This is what the Dark Knight should be. A little bit twisted. A whole lot of dark humor and character development. I was ready to buy another ticket to see it again after the first viewing, and I never see movies more than once in the theater.
It's truly a shame that Heath Ledger passed away because his interpretation of the Joker is the closest I've seen to the image in my head of what he's supposed to be like. Absolutely cruel with no conscience and no sense of remorse. Christian Bale continues to perform well as the Dark Knight, improving on the first in the series, and letting us see the human elements of Bruce Wayne such as love, lust, selfishness, hatred, and self-loathing.
I can't wait to see who they'll bring into the series as the next villains. Bane would fit extremely well into the current state of Gotham City post-Joker.

My husband and I went to see this movie, and I have never sat down to watch a batman movie before.I don't like action films either, But this movie was so so so so GOOD. I truly loved it. The acting in this movie was great!!! It is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I hate that the star of the film isn't with us anymore. He really made the movie! This is a must see!!!!

I thought this movie lived up to the hyoe and more. I think Heath Ledger lived up to the reputation of the Jack N. Joker but had his own spin. Creeper. I may need to see it again just to catch a few things that I may have missed.

Are they just hyping Heath Ledger's performance because of his death? No. His performance is exceptional and very memorable. Jack Nicholson was the quintessential Joker, but anyone who sees this film will forever think of Mr. Ledger as the greatest Joker ever. Does it follow the graphic novel by Frank Miller? No. Just as they reinvented the story of how Bruce Wayne decided to become a batty vigilante, they have also taken liberties in introducing both the Joker and Two-Face in a surprisingly thoughtful story with plenty of unexpected twists. The pacing is steady—there are no slow spots and nothing going so fast you can't follow it. The filmmakers got no more high-tech than a good Bond flick while retaining as much realism as possible. At two and half hours, the speeding bus with a bomb on it feel satisfies without feeling overly long. The Dark Knight should be the basic template all future action films should follow. My boyfriend is not a Batman fan and went begrudgingly just because I wanted to go so bad, and he's telling people now it's one of the best movies he's ever seen in his life.

The Joker's tour de force performance, Batman's quest to rid Gotham of all its thugs, and Chris Nolan's script, make for arguably the best Batman movie ever. I saw it twice and read the plot before seeing the second show which made for an memorable experience. Glad i was alive to see it...

very fun and action packed movie that keeps your attention. its fast pace makes you think along with the action. you get your money worth with this two and a half hour show. although the action is somewhat unrealistic, the story line is intense, intensely evil, and I can see why some of the actors had trouble with the good versus evil underpinnings of the story.

I didn't think it was possible with all of the press that it was getting, but The Dark Knight delivered. The drama was intence, the action was breath taking, and the Joker was chilling and disturbing. I can't wait to see it agian.

This was the best Batman movie to date. I don't think they can ever top it! Heath Ledger was great as the Joker. I have always been a fan of his and will really miss him as an actor. No one will ever be able to play the Joker.

If I had to rate this movie out of 10, it would go way beyond that. Christopher Nolan, the director, did a remarkable job. The stellar cast and the action makes The Dark Knight the best movie I have seen in a long time. Do not get me wrong, Batman Begins was also superb. Of course, Heath Ledger, went out on the best perfoemance of his career and life. By far, it surpassed Jack Nicholson's performance(even though he was brilliant).The Joker was maniacal, unpredictable, evil, and funny as he should have been. Like I said at the top, FLAWLESS is every aspect of the film.

This movie was extremely enjoyable, both because of several things. First, it continued the powerful story of Batman Begins. Second, there was good acting by all of the lead actors/actresses, and some (Ledger) gave one of their best performances ever in filming this movie. Lastly, the plot/story was actually pretty involved and much more interesting than your standard action movie. While a few things were expected for consistency with the comic books, many things were done that left you guessing until they occurred. An overall great movie to go see with your best buds or your girlfriend- two thumbs up!

i thought the dark knight was great. i enjoyed all 2& a half hours of it although i had to pee an hour into it. Joker was brilliantly done along with Harvey Dent. My biggest complaint along with other people i spoke with was batman/bruce wayne's character. as a huge batman fan i was disappointed of the lack of development of batman as a detective & bruce wayne was more like a trust-fund baby rather than a CEO with an inheritance. still worth watching 7 will be seeing it again on IMAX.

The Dark Knight is a very good film, though not quite as good as its five-star reviews. Although it probably deserves four stars (okay, four-and-a-half), both critics and viewers have consistently rated it even higher. To be sure, it features an engaging, character-driven plot, which is unusual for an action adventure film based on a comic book, and even contains a redeeming social message. Neither of those, however, would usually garner such stellar reviews. What elevates this movie to a higher plane is Heath Ledger's masterful performance as The Joker, who he plays as a brilliant, quirky, murderous sociopath. In so doing, he not only dominates the film -- which is saying something because the rest of the cast is excellent -- but establishes himself as one of the few actors of our time who can elevate a film beyond it's script, its genre, and even its director. In that, he joins the ranks of Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, Sean Penn, and, ironically, Jack Nicholson (ironic because Ledger has even surpassed Nickelson's extraordinary performance in the same role back in 1989). Sympathy votes aside -- Ledger died of an accidental medication overdose in January at the age of 28 -- he is virtually certain to be nominated for another Oscar for Best Actor, and seems quite likely to win; indeed, his performance is so strong, it's difficult to imagine anyone beating him. His performance in The Dark Knight is likely to earn him cult status as the James Dean of his generation. Those who enjoy action adventure and special effects will almost surely enjoy both Ledger and the film in general. Christian Bale turns in a very competent performance as Batman, Michael Caine is even better as Alfred, his devoted butler (reprising a role he played in Batman Begins), and the rest of the cast is thoroughly competent and consistently engaging. (Warning: Although it's rated PG-13, the movie is quite violent, even frightening at times, and parents should think twice before permitting kids under 13 to see it.)

Should have been rated R for all of the tormenting and violence of innocent people, scene after scene. I left feeling that there are real people that share the same twisted views on life, as the Joker did. Overall I thought is was too dark and violent to sit through the entire 2 hours and 30 minutes, it got repetitive and more disturbing.
