I am in the minority here, as I thought it was just OK. It was not nearly as great of a performance in a lead Superhero role that Robert Downey Jr. brought to Iron Man. I thought Heath Ledger carried the film, and the movie showcased Chicago beautifully. Who cast Eric Roberts in this role? He was just awful. The Mayor was wearing eyeliner. The writing/ plot was weak., but the action was fantastic. If it weren't for Heath Ledger, this is a 2 star movie. Does Christian Bale need to speak in this weird deep voice when he is Batman ?? Lots of flaws in this movie. I was not that impressed- except for H. L. He was the BEST.

Indeed it is a movie worth going to see, I did, however, think that all the hype is way overrated. There were better movies recently that Dark Knight would not come close to. Also regarding the joker, not sure why people say Heath Ledger played such a disturbed character, he was funny, not as much as the old joker, perhaps, but he came off more as a comedian to me then a disturbing role the media is talking about.

This one actually lived up to the hype and Heath Ledger was as good as advertised. It ran a little too long, but that is the only thing I can say about it that wasn't great.

I was definitely doubtful of how great the movie was going to be based on the excessive and overdone exposure it received. However, the movie was above and beyond expectations. I expect to see it again in IMAX to get the full effect of all the special effects. Two thumbs up for sure.

Heath Ledger's performance saved this movie from being a real stinker. The movie drags on forever, Batman appears to be inept and the villians ( other than the Joker and a late appearence by Two Face) are boring. The plot appears weak and all over the place and the special effects are average, nothing new and exciting. Too bad cause a truly "dark" Batman is whats really needed to breath life into the homogenized version weve seen too much of.

Far too long, much too loud for comfortable
listening. Dead characters kept coming back
from the dead. Confusing story line, which in
reality wasn't much of a line at all. The whole
film was mostly a tribute to special effects. The
one saving thing was Heath Ledger's role as
The Joker. Michael Caine was also very good,
in an understated way as usual.
Someone can also perhaps tell me why the
theater has to show ten previews, some for films opening in early 2009, prior to showing
the feature.

Overall this is a great movie. It was a little long at 2 hours, 32 minutes but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great cast, Ledger's portrayal of the Joker lives up to the hype, and I would recommend it to my friends.
Although there is very little blood and gore, it is dark and somewhat violent and I would not bring my 9 year old to see it.

This was fun and the movie didn't seem long. The joker was scary, Batman was portrayed perfectly...the makeup on both the joker and two face, excellent. The movie was dark, but fun.

Brought the wife to this movie and neither of us is a big superhero movie fan. She loved it! Mostly because of the superb all star cast yet especially the acting of Heath Ledger as The Joker. He might be nominated for his role in this film. Otherwise it keeps your interest for the 2.5 hrs. Not recommemnded for kids due to the violence, etc... (shoulda been R) They leave the window open for a sequel with The Joker but don't know who else could equal Ledger's legacy. I also enjoyed the realistic "media spin control" that they used in the movie. Makes you wonder what our politicians tell us is the truth. Overall highly recommended and well made entertainment.

The Dark Knight was easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. The hype surrounding it was at such a high level that there was no way it could flop. Heath Ledger put on the performance of his career, it's a shame that he had to die shortly after. The joker that he created kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what he would do next but kept me laughing with his dark jokes. Even if you know the story already The Dark Knight will still have you sitting there for the whole two and a half hours not knowing what to expect next. Nolan is a brilliant director and I can't wait to see what he does with the next part of the series.

This movie was excellent and totally worth seeing, but ran a little long. They could have cut out a plot line towards the end and the movie would have been the perfect length and kept you wanting more. Also, Gyllenhal not nearly hot enough or good of an actress to be the femme. Needed a much sexier girl for that part. Action seens were unreal. It's a must see in the theater, unless you own a monstress home theater.

Heath Ledger was out of this world. He really sold the part to the point that it was a bit creepy. I started to lose faith in the movie making industry for a little while, but this movie proves that they can still produce a great all-around flick for us to enjoy. You would never have thought that with the comic book movies of the past that hollywood would really bring its talented writers and actors together to make a movie so complete. I was impressed with the movie's story-line flow and its darkness to mimic what could be interpreted as society's reaction to those who set to rid it of corruption but only demonize themselves...

I had heard all the hype and actually never saw the first one. I went with my son and husband and thought it would be ok.
I would put this as one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The acting was top notch and the special effects kept you on your toes. It was the quickest 2 1/2 hours I can remember.

I was both impressed and amazed with how well he transformed himself into this character and it was painful to realize that such a great talent was lost. I thought this movie really captured the emotional and physical turmoil of batman and really helped us to learn more about the struggles of the character. Well written, well directed, well played!!

Chris Nolan topped himself with this one! Batman Begins took this hero back to his truly dark-- not "cartoonish"-- roots, and now we have a modern-day Joker that would not embarass the noirish original, born in very dark times. This movie has it all-- big action, amazing effects, a perfect script, great acting, and just the right tone. I saw it twice in the theater, and I NEVER do that!

You've all heard that line to describe movies: Its an Intense Thrill-Ride! I've always thought of it as a joke. Its a rare occasion when a movie has me literally peeking my eyes through clenched fingers clutching my face for whats about to happen next, but this movie delivered ten-fold! The action was exciting and even had me jumping in my seat from time to time. The story was intense, heart-breaking at times, and I really didn't see the end coming. The entire cast gave stellar performances, but I left the theater a little sad, in knowing that Heath Ledger, who gave a frightening, humorous and truly mesmerizing performance won't be gracing the screen any longer. Christian Bale delivered beautifully as did the entire cast. This film makes me excited to go to the movies, as I rarely have this much fun. This movie, to put it simply, is just really wonderful, dark and at the same time delightfully refreshing.

Arguably the best superhero movie ever. Great depth of character added by Christian Bale's Batman performance. Heath Ledger's turn as The Joker worth staying up late for. Michael Caine and Gary Oldman both deliver, as always. Complex and interesting storyline, a unique darkness to the underlying themes that Frank Miller must be proud of. My only criticism would be that it is a little too long - there is so much story to tell that they didn't seem to know what to edit out. Overall awesome and well worth seeing, even at midnight on a weeknight!

This was one of the best and most well put together movies i've ever seen. This surpassed spiderman, ironman, superman and the hulk in terms of superhero movies. Its a must see and i cant wait for it's DVD release. Oh and Heath Ledger was amazing, as sad as it is to say, that is the way to go out, with the performance of a lifetime.
