This was the first movie in a long time that every character was not only well defined but well played. Each actor brought his charachter life and each held there own. Even the so called minor character of Michael Cane and Morgan Freeman who extensions of the Brues Wayn/Batman character
Nolan gives us plot that is both scary and very real espeically in todays society. He neither preaches to us nor patronizies us he just shows us what is. This makes for movie making and watching at its best
This movie was more than any of my expectation for it, there for highly recommend it.

I must say that with all th hype regarding Heath Ledgers demise that I had made an assumption that all the accolades regarding his portrayal of the Joker were related to nostalgia for yet another young actor that had died too soon. This was an incorrect assumption, Heath Ledger is the Joker and I, like others I have read here, really enjoyed Nicholsons Joker and yet, I believe that Heath has taken the character to a new and very original level, too bad he will not be back. Unfortunately for me Christian Bale was not nearly as charismatic as I have seen in the previous Batman and even in other films like American Psycho where he was brilliant. Aaron Eckhart was passable as Harvey Dent
would have like to have seen Katie Holmes reprise her role

This Batman was by far the best of all Batman movies. Exciting jam packed with action throughout. Highly recommend it. On occasion the voice of Batman and the coin flip of the DA get annoying. Overall a must see movie of the summer.

The Acting, the Dialogue, Costumes, FX and a Great Story. There is nothing in this movie that will disappoint you. No offense to Jack Nicholson who played an Equally great but dissimilar role of the character, Ledger's Performance of the Joker was so spot on it was scary. Dark and humorous it made you beg for more. I would go see this film again and again.

I have loved batman since I was a kid, so I was thrilled when they decided to come out with new versions showing the darker side of Gotham (starting with Batman Begins).
The show was non-stop action with the Joker (Heath Ledger) absolutely stealing the show. Every scene the Joker was in the audience was on the edge of its seat.
this did lead to one of the few problems i had with the movie, though. While it fully lasted the 2hrs 40 min (and packed a lot into the time), the entire movie was high suspense. there was no room for the movie to climax because everybody was already on edge.
in all fairness, i think that this was done to portray what it really was like in Gotham at the time, as there weren't any moments in the city where people could catch their breath, but it was a cinematic flaw.
all in all, amazing movie. best super hero movie i've ever seen, by far. it deserves more like a 4.6/5, but because it's not quite 5, i had to go w/ 4.

I wanted to experience this movie alone to understand how deep down inside Heath Ledger had to reach to make the Joker so real and what may have pushed him to his level of insomnia and anxiety to accidentally overdose. What a tragic loss that was. Not to lay blame. He gave his all to his craft and he was obviously a very gifted actor and it may have been difficult for him mentally. He must have known the success this role was going to bring him. Heath succeeded in every way by showing you the joker from his broken child to his twisted adult self. The cause and effect. He brought the joker to life. This movie is by far the best movie I have ever seen in my life. I left the theatre in tears. Not just for the story line and the characters, but for the performance of a lifetime by Heath Ledger that can never be outdone... this movie tapped into my emotions in a way I was not prepared for and I am going to see it again and again. Heath left his mark on the world with this performance and died a legend. My heart goes out to his family for their tremendous loss. My heart is broken because he did not get to share this success with his family and was robbed of his opportunity to relish in his much deserved reward. This movie will certainly sweep the Oscars in every category including best supporting actor. I do however think that it should have been rated R for it's violence. I think that it is too much for a young mind to process. There were scenes that made me cringe and I am an adult. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys the art of acting. It is by far the Best Batman movie ever....

This was an awesome movie. It was great for the action-loving movie goer. It also had a bit of romance. The Joker keeps you on the edge of your seat. Mucho props to the director, Christopher Nolan, he captures the essence of batman and joker and their eternal battle. Definately recommend this one to everyone. It's a must see this summer.

It was a good movie. Acting wise it was really AWESOME MOVIE and i think that Both Bale and Ledger deserve Oscar.
I personally think that if they had put a little bit more suspense and thrill in this movie then this can be the best movie ever made. But with PG-13 rating, it really ROCKS!!!
I never saw any better PG-13 movie than this one.

the dark knight is a killer movie - literally! the action by batman, the comedy form the joker, this movie proved to be worth the all the talk that was made. heath ledger actually did a fantastic job and jack nicholson should be proud. christian bale made my day in this movie. seeing it at midnight made it even better.

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed this movie. However, it was not without flaws and acting disappointment. Was The Joker "great"? Yes and no... he was in and out of character in the movie. Maybe it was designed so that he was crazy one moment, and then a perfect business man type the next. Didn't work for me. Bruce Wayne is a stick in the mud. If I were rich I'd have some fun along with the seriousness. Bruce, and Batman, were robotic. Lastly, explain to me how The Joker got the upper hand in the fight? How did ONE bullet get through the suit... really. In Batman Begins every little thing was plauseabel. Not in this one. Too many things that were too "far out". At least for me... Still, enjoyed the movie very much.

By far and large this is the BEST Batman movie ever made, beating even Tim Burton's dark initial film.
Heath Ledger's performance is absolutely stellar and engaging, to the point that by the end of the film, you really are rooting for the Joker. The play of the performances and development for both Joker and Batman are so perfect, so intoxicatingly brilliant, you'll need to see the film more than once because it's that enjoyable! The introduction and development of Two-Face only adds to the momentum and the inside jokes perfectly accent this dark, most realistic, and most perfect of superhero films.

Most movies based on comic books or video games suck, but this was excellent. It's kind of slow at first, but picks up in a serious way very quickly. Heath Ledger plays the best psychotic crazy person I've seen in a movie, even surpassing Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector. At first you think he's funny, eventually you get disgusted with him, and you eventually wish that Batman would kill him. Great flick. Not for kids in any way. Really should be rated R.

I think the exceptional performance of Heath Ledger overshadows the great job Christian Bale does as the Dark Knight. Obviously Ledger does a fantastic job emulating the Joker, but the combination of him and Bale creates a perfect villain to hero show for the audience. This movie is extremely well done and I have already seen it twice. I would definitely recommend this movie to even the most skeptical movie-goer. They will surely enjoy themselves.

Excellent flick. Typical Batman storyline not much to gush about but Heath Ledger's performance is so stellar it's worth seeing again and again just for that. Set more in today's times makes it much more believable than comic strip. I like that, some may not. Maggie Gyllenhall not glamourous enough to be the love interst at all. We'll probably own this one on DVD for sure.

The Dark Knight kept you tied to your seat. There was non stop action. Between The Joker(Heath Ledger) and Batman(Christian Bale) the conflict continued throughout the movie. Ledger played a very deep, dark and scary Joker. He convinced you that you don't want this Joker around. I would definitely recommend this movie. Since there is so much violence in it I think it should be rated R.
