This movie was hyped up, but surpassed my extremely high expectation. Ledger's performance was flawless and Bale was amazing as always. I have seen the movie twice already it is just that good. If you haven't been this is a must see!

I thought that all the talk about the movie due to Ledgers death was just a bunch of hype. Nothing could be further from the truth. This was truly one of the best movies I've ever seen and Ledger was unbelievable in the role as the Joker. It is sad that Ledger is gone and that he will never be able to play this role again. Give him all of the awards for a job well done!

This was a movie that kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It was very intense! I would highly recommend it as the story line is fantastic. It makes you think deeply about good and evil and the choices people make.
I did notice that there were several young children under 10 in the theater. I have an 8 year-old boy, and there is no way I will let him see this for several years due to Joker's violence.

I didn't think this movie lived up to it's hype. It kept my attention, so the length flew by. Ledger convinced me that he was a creepy psychopath and stole the show, definitely. Overall the movie was like an ADD convention, with constant action, and an unoriginal plot. The message of evil and constant violence and killing didn't seem much different from most hollywood blockbusters. Not for everyone.

The acting was tremedous, the plot, the suspense. I'll admit I jumped a couple times. The special effects are to die for. Heath Ledger should definitly get an Oscar nom for this movie. If he doesn't the movie industry must be blind!

Perhaps I still don't fully understand it, however it was one of the best movies I've ever seen up until the very end of the evil twist. Christian Bale has always been the only reason I come to see the movies that he's in because he's always been "the good guy", however he's taken a total twist at the end that just makes NO sense.

I'm a 41 year old mother of two girls. I enjoy action movies, sci-fi and fantasy- along with an occasional chick-flick but usually watch movies for children. The Dark Knight was such a relief and such a ride! A relief because I saw that quality movies with intricate plot twists, meaty scripts, amazing effects and great acting can still be found in one movie. The movie was ride because it never stopped- all the chases built the plot and added to the excitement. I could see the sense of The Joker's anarchial logic (yikes!) and understood the choice that Batman and the Commissioner had to make. I can hardly wait until the next installment. Until then, kids' movies will have to do. See this movie now!

I love batman movies and this was the best ever. Great performances by all, terrific plot, and the performance by Heath Ledger was one of the most amazing I've seen by anyone. He was the Joker perfected....frightening and thrilling all at the same time. Many awards to follow-no doubt!

This was a great movie. Heath Ledger as the joker was exceptional, not over the top. It was a long movie at two and a half hours, but I barely noticed that because it was so good. Go see it if you haven't yet and you even somewhat like these types of movies.

Despite the fact that I am a huge Christopher Nolan fan, and a huge Christian Bale fan, this movie is probably one of the best I have seen in a while. Non-stop action, fantastic acting. Not to mention Heath Ledger's amazing performance as Joker. Out of all the movies that I have seen Heath in, this is his finest performance. I am sadened to think that this was his last movie, but I am glad his last was his best. I would reccommend that you see all of the Christopher Nolan movies.

I've seen pretty much every comic book adaptation into a "major" motion picture. This has to be most well execute from a depth, mood, character development perspective. The best analogy I could use for friends regarding Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker was Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. It was a villain performance that was so complex, intense and articulate that it sticks with you for days afterward. The screenplay was amazing...story arc, dialogue,pace, etc.... at a quality and polish rarely found in comic book adaptations.

So, let's be brutal, because I am tired of the Batman franchise churning out lame movies. It was Average, not poor, but not great either.
Honestly, this movie has no clue what it wants to do, or be. It is a poor combination of action movie, thinly played love story, and examination of some conflicting characters.
For an action movie, it is was way too long at 2.5 hours for its thin content. I wanted to scream "hurry up" at several points when you get the same repeated sceen of the Joker creating havoc, or Bruce/Batman searching his soul for the x'th time.
I was lead to believe they had 3+ hours of footage they had to cut down. That would have been painful unless there was some actual plot elements in there. There were hardly any in the main movie as it was.
In such a 'dark' movie, with such a sense of tragedy / impending doom, it is almost embrassing that we are expected to believe that Bruce/Batman would do such brooding/pondering about Harvey Dent? There is no way that Bruce/Batman would be that naive or star-struck, or for that matter would trust anyone in the first place. And he would not need 2 hours to do it.
Now, the Joker is a great character, but when you just get repeated sceens of him blowing stuff up, or the pathetic escape from the police holding cells, he becomes completely one dimensional, almost like an annoyance. It spoils what could have been an Oscar-worthy performance if only he had had a plot line to follow (Heath Ledger was very, very good).
As for Batman himself, well he gets completely dwarfed by all the junk in the plot. All we see is Bruce being Bruce, i.e. shallow and kind of pointless (more supermodels anyone?)
When we do see Batman he is full of self pity. Christian Bale tries to make something work, but does not seem to be able to pull Bruce/Batman out of the self-pity until the last five minutes. Hardly entertaining to watch 2 hours of sulking. Just give the Lamborghini back and move away to Mexico or something.
That is the paradox. This is neither an action movie, nor something more complex like a study of the character elements - the nihilism etc. It is a poor mish mash.
When are we finally going to get a Batman movie that gets it? They need to combine Batman Begins and Dark Knight, cut out the waffle, cut out the love story, and see what happens.
I am only glad I did not rush to see it.

was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. Exceptional acting
(especially by Heath Ledger as the Joker), great story, awesome action. The twist

Constant action through the entire 2:40 runtime. As reported everywhere Ledger was amazing. One or two ridiculous stunts but couldn't detract from the rest of the movie. Wish I had seen it on an IMAX screen to make it even better. Enjoy!

Excellent potrayal of characters, and Joker was the highlight of the show. Heath Ledger was awesome, and so was director Christopher Nolan. Must see. Movie is little long and has might have been better with editing of some scenes.

Overall it was a very enjoyable movie and one I would recommend to all my friends. My complaints? Bale growled all the time he was Batman, and the costume, specifically the mask, looked like it was fit for a head half his size. But, if those are my biggest complaints, the movie was pretty much spot on.

Went to see Dark Knight last night. This was the worst movie of the year. With so much hype, you'd think this was the smartest, most thought-provoking movie ever made. But the dialog was simplistic and each scene was totally transparent. The only time the movie 'shocked' me was when the fake Joker slammed into the glass. And yes, the flying scenes were spectacular. But after 90 minutes I was begging for this movie to end. The DA character was so silly and so unnecessary that I was convinced the only reason he existed was because someone's friend who does SFX must have begged the director to let them work on this film. Was anyone really surprised that the coin was two-headed and was not this act of ‘flipping the coin’ a direct rip-off of last year’s Oscar winning movie where ‘random chance’ was the theme? Was anyone really surprised that Gordon wasn't dead? Has anyone else noticed how Maggie Gyllenhaal looks a lot like Miss Piggy? After seeing this film, my faith in America and the World took a nosedive - are we really as stupid as the trite dialogue in this movie?

The movie stinks: read the New Yorker review with which I agree. I couldn't follow the story line, I had no idea who was good or bad, Batman's actor could be a good comedy shtick, the Joker (Heath Ledger) was over the top and repetitive and disgusting (I think his acting as well as the movie is exagerrated). Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was so spot on it was eerie. I grew up reading the comics and it was amazing to finally see the Joker as written in the comics brought to life, unlike Nicholson's portrayal, which was fantastic but just not the Joker I grew up with.
Fans will still be talking about Ledger's performance decades from now, to me one of the all time great acting jobs.

The movie was really intensive with action andand suspense. For the first time we would see where the joker is coming from.
Michael Caine really proved he was worth the role.
I think Heath Ledger showed us how amazing he was before saying goobye as if he wanted o make sure we will miss him.
The movie all together is great.. For the first time there is something going on that is not centered around one person in such type of movies.
Everything in this movie is worth seeing. but grab a pillow to hold on while watching, its 2 hours 40 minutes.
