I had high hopes going to see "The Dark Knight" on opening night, and they were definitely exceeded. The movie does at times seem to drag on, but it also covers a very large amount of material. Many times you'll think "Oh, this is it" and then the film delves right into something else, which keeps your attention front and center. Ledger's depiction of The Joker is much more dark and rough around the edges than the funny, cartoonish job done by Nicholson. It's a shame this was Ledger's last film; his disturbingly spectacular performance is a major departure from the pictures he's done in the past.

The movie ended at 3am and we still could have watched more. It was beautifully shot, the story line had you at every moment and the acting was incredible. Plus, the city of Chicago looked amazing as Gotham City. It leaves you wanting more....including more Heath. He was phenomenal.

It wasn't what I expected. I was slightly let down, thinking of the potential the characters could be pushed to. But I was surprised, in a good way, at the movie overall. The plot had a lot of depth, always kept you thinking. And the special effects and action scenes were great! A lot of action! Much better than Batman Begins! I hope everyone goes to see it (but don't go expecting anything from it - soak it in as you watch it, and you'll leave with a smile on that face!)

This movie was EXCELLENT!!!! Heath Ledger was amazing; the way he changed his voice, the way he walked everything a total stranger! Christian Bale played an outstanding Batman role I don't think any other than those two actors would've done such a MARVELOUS collaboration! GO SEE IT! I would watch it over & over!

The Dark Knight is by far the best super hero movie ever and the best movie of the year! Christopher Nolan derserves an Oscar nomination for his direction as does the late Heath Ledger. His performance was simply put...the acting role of a life time. Stellar cast...stellar...I'm going to see it at least 2 more times!

The expectations of a great movie have been underestimated. With now 6 batman movies, thousands of comics and hundreds of cartoons this is the batman and joker i have been long waiting for. With a Epic combination of actors and actresses this movie blows the other batman's out of the water. Thrilling, exciting and creepy at times Heath Ledger got the stand up performance of his short career. My only advice, see the movie and dont be late the front is not where you want to sit.

This is the Batman movie we have all waited to see since the beginning. Heath Ledger gave a brilliant performance, and only wish he were here to see the finished product. I know the academy doesn't look at movies like this for oscar considerations, but this by far warrants a couple of them.

As a HUGE fan of the original Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson Bat Man-I was very skeptical of how this movie was going to go. As well as a little creeped out about the recent passing of one of the lead characters.
For the entire length of this film- I had to remind myself to blink! Ledger not only supercedes his predecessor but raised the bar for any Bat Man Villian.
MUST SEE! (I even particpated in the un-heard clap at the end of the movie!)

Joker was the Ace that this movie needed...i cant even put it into words how well Heath nailed this role...his best work that i've ever seen. Batman's voice is kinda annoying..i realize why he does it but it's good for quick sayings...but when he does a long dialog it gets kinda stupid...Two Faces ....well his face is perfect...now that's the two face....remember when they did the other batman movie and Harvey had a piece of paper cover his face as a thug tossed some acid on him...and then all of a sudden batman is leaping from the crowd...now that was ridiculous..this was way more believable and BA on why he was so bitter at the world and depended so much on his coin...because the world had gone mad and he was confused and he trusted in a coin flip to the fullest....that nailed the comic book to the T!!! The scarecrow's appearance in the beginning was kinda weaksauce...you'd expect more from a major player like the crow...but that's fine....at least in these movies the bad guys live at the end to fight another day...except for Harvey of course...but this could be a good mix in the future Batman movie..where all the villians unite and take down the Batman...for at least a while....but getting back to this movie...as the Joker wanted...it put a smile on my face and i cant wait for the next installment.

The movie had good action with great acting. Heath did a fantastic job. The effects were nice and I liked the twists and turns. The fight sences between Christian and Heath were intence and Aaron's role at end of the movie was crazy. I need to watch it again because there was a lot going on at all times.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. 2 1/2 hours of pure excellence. Heath Ledger did an outstanding portrayal of the joker, he was able to make him scary and funny at the same time. Effects were incredible. Also there wasn't just 1 big climax to this movie. There were many. I believe this is the BEST Batman yet!

I saw The Dark Knight at a midnight screening with some friends. With so much hype in the last couple of days I was starting to get a little worried. Turns out I had nothing to worry about at all.
First of all Heath Ledger's Joker is as good as billed if not better. It was an amazing performance and capture the psychotic and chaotic personality of the Joker to a tee while at the same time creating a new interpretation of the character. Great all around.
You should not be surprised by the story as it was teased perfectly at the end of Batman Begins. This is about that escalation between the bad guys and the good guys and the toll it takes on the good guys to keep up. This is definitely the middle of that larger three act story.
If you enjoyed Batman Begins, you have to see this one. See it this week with a good crowd and you will not be disappointed.

I give this movie a 9 out of 10. The joker was very convincing in his role and Batman was up to par as usual. The only thing that could be considered negative is the length. For some people it may be too long and take too many turns.

I didn't care for Harvey Dent, aka Two Face. I especially didn't like that he was the vocal point to the ending of the movie. Heath Ledger was very good as the Joker - actually i don't want to admit it but he was outstanding (didn't care for most of his previous movies)

"The Dark Knight" is already one of my favorite films. I didn't think Heath Ledger would be as good as the reviews said, but I was wrong. I was mesmerized each time he was on the screen! One of the best villains portrayed in film, hands down! Besides the Joker, the rest of the movie was really quite flawless. Besides Batman's scruffy "disguise" voice, I loved every minute! I would recommend this film to everyone!! You won't be disappointed

Usually when a movie is as hyped at The Dark Knight has been, the movie can't live up to expectation. This movie manages to surpass expectations.
That being said...this movie isn't for the faint of heart. The joker is truly disturbing, and the movie is DARK. Way darker than any previous Batman movie. I think they managed to capture the feeling of despair perfectly.
As an aside, I think that Maggie Gyllenhaal did a fantastic job replacing Katie Holmes, in fact, I wish that she had been Rachael in both movies...she adds much more depth to the character.

I know that some people are talking more about Heath Ledger's Joker than they are the whole Batman movie in general.
They should be - Ledger is just fantastic as the joker. Seriously steals the show.
I was going to definitely see the movie this weekend, but ended catching one of the midnight showings of this summer blockbuster. I couldn't believe that all of the shows were sold out! Good thing I bought my tickets on movietickets.com (enter shameless plug here).
The movie is good, maybe running a little long, especially at 3am.... but overall, it's a summer blockbuster that can't be missed. The acting was superb on all counts and the storyline was very good for an 'action sequel' if you want to call it that.
Ledger and Downey Jr and up there together with my summer's acting picks!

I had very high expectations for this movie, and the movie only somewhat delivered. It was too long ang the plot seemed stretched at some points. The story was good, but not revolutionary. The film seems more like a bridge to get to the third movie then a true installment in its own right. All ot the main actors delivered fantastic performances. Heath Ledger was good, but not as wondeful as everyone made him out to be. In my mind, Aaron Eckhart stole the show as Harvey Dent. I do recomend this movie, but it is not as good as it could have been

In what has been touted as the movie event of the summer, if not the year, “The Dark Knight” opens this weekend and there is no doubt that long-time Bat-fans will enjoy it as much as non fans.
Batman returns to the big screen this summer in “The Dark Knight” A direct sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins.” Much of the cast has returned featuring Christian Bale as millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne who moonlights as Gotham City’s masked vigilante. Maggie Gyllenhaal reprises her role as assistant DA Rachel Dawes, Gary Old returns as James Gordon and of course Michael Caine is the ever-loyal Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
The returning cast is nothing less than excellent and even the new faces on the silver screen are impressive. Aaron Eckhart (Thank You For Smoking) delivers a great performance as Harvey Dent and transitions well into an alter ego.
Of course it is Heath Ledger’s Joker that everyone is talking about. This is the role that allegedly caused the late Mr. Ledger to use antidepressants. While it is hard to separate the real-life tragedy from the role Ledger brings a dark sophisticated psychosis to the film that leave you wishing he was a bigger part of the film.
As it turns out Eckhart’s character gets more screen time and does steal quite a bit of spotlight from Ledger when you look at the big picture. When Ledger is on screen there seems to be nobody else but the Joker.
Also returning from the previous film is acclaimed director Christopher Nolan. Nolan who also directed “The Prestige” diverts from the style of telling parallel stories through different time periods. This time around we get a more traditional linear narrative. With many of the main characters already established there is no real need for flashbacks. Nolan succeeds with this new formula. The pacing of the film is great and nearly every member of the cast gets a one-liner for comic relief.
Set almost immediately after the previous movie Gotham City is facing another crime wave. This time financed by a Chinese business man. Of course when the Joker wants in on the action he manipulates, murders and cheats his way to the top of the Gotham Crime scene.
Meanwhile Harvey Dent works through Lt. Gordon with the Batman to nab the gang leaders.
As you may draw from this there is quite a bit of DA/Courtroom drama here, making this movie something like the ultimate episode of “Law & Order.”
“The Dark Knight” delivers. It delivers action, comedy, thought-provoking scenarios, some potential seizure-educing special effects, many very impressive performances and come 2009 it will deliver at least an Oscar nomination for Heath Ledger.
