Usually when a movie/actor receives a lot of hype and promotion before the average person has a chance to see it ... you probly find yourself a little let down on occasion. Well, rest assured this will NOT be one of those times! Heath Ledger is all that they say he is and so much more. Rarely do we see someone that can delve so deeply into their character that you no longer see the actor. The best performance as the Joker by far. Batman himself was just as good in this movie as the first as we see him battle the moral conflicts that are associated with is choice to serve Gotham. Although, i don't like when 2 different actors play the same character - it works here with Rachel Dawes. I could go on and on about how much I loved this movie but instead I will just say "Go See Batman ASAP!" ... of course there are alwasy a few points of irritation: 1) it was a little longer than i expected - of course that may just of been the fact that i saw it at 12:01 am! 2) there seemed to be several story lines going on - not bad but i kept thinking it was the end when it wasn't - everything was summed up well in the end though. So over all 2 thumbs up, 5 stars, A+, a must see!!!

Best Comic Book movie ever!! The troika of Batman, Harvey Dent and Gordon is at the heart of the movie. They play off each other well. Only weak link - Maggie Gyllenhall. She made me miss Katie Holmes!
This is a very dark movie. Is a total 180 from Batman Begins. And is 10 times better.

First I have to say I have never been a fan of Batman or these kind of movies so my review might not be one people show base whether they see the movie or not.
Everyone does need to see it because of the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker. He was amazing and it was an Oscar worthy performance. If it were not for his role in the movie I would never have gone to see it.
It was a movie that was 2 1/2 hrs long and seemed to me that it lasted 5 or 6. All the actors did a great job but it was just a bit over the top for me.
The two headed coin and the last line of the movie were just too corny for me.
Everyone else in the theater loved it though so I would tell all to see it.

Not long ago there was an extreme anti-superhero sentiment with film critics. If Dark Knight did not silence them then they are speaking out of prejudice. This film was not held together by flashy effects. This was a character driven film, that seemed to thread together a great plot while taking a look at many aspects of the concepts we have seen in six films over the last 20 years. It took away the silly fun side Burton had in the 80's and put it in a much more believable light. Intense and well done, this movie will be quoted for decades.

The Dark Knight was exactly like advertised, a thrilling, suspenseful, amazing almost three hour adventure. Heath Ledger deserves an oscar for his creation of a truly maniacal Joker. He was clearly the highlight of the film. My only regret is that I felt that Harvey Dent's transformation wasn't what it could be. The makeup design felt more at home in Terminator 4 which we saw the preview of before the movie than the Dark Knight. Overall, it was a thrill ride that I recommend everyone check out as soon as possible

I could literally write for the next hour about this movie. It was fantastic. Much better than the first Christopher Nolan adaptation, and I love Batman Begins. He adds a realistic perspective to a story that was never meant to seem real. The villians were frightening, but not without their comic moments. Bale is the perfect wounded hero, although as you will learn in the movie, he does not see himself as a hero. It was socially relevant and produces questions about the nature of good vs. evil and what we are all capable of deep down. I am wishing/hoping/yearning for a third installment and many more between this duo.

Awesome, just frickin awesome. Saw it last night at 12:01 am and it didn't end until 2:45am and still got up for work. It was worth it. HL was unreal, didn't even know it was him! And FYI, I'm 40 and took my 14yr old son, he wants to see it again.

The cinematic detail in this movie was the best that I've seen in a long time. You really feel like your in Gotham City. Heath Ledger's performance of the Joker is probably going to win best supporting actor. All in all the Dark Knight was everything that I thought it was going to be. I would recommend it to anyone who grew up watching batman, and still enjoys the caped crusader....

I believe the movie was worth the hype and I enjoyed every minute. My one issue with the movie was that Batman begins spent most of the time exploring Bruce Wayne. In the dark knight we do not see that character at all. Instead we see are shown that a vigilante will draw out "a better class of criminal" - the kind like joker who have no plans or purpose other than chaos and instability. This movie was about the villians more than the main character.
PS - WHY DID THE MAYOR WEAR EYELINER?

I loved the portrayal of the characters and the surprises that kept popping up throughout the movie. I had chills throughout the movie, from the gripping performances, and the way that the life issues were brought forward in the story line was eye opening. Truly moving performances. I don't usually go to movie theatres to see a movie, i wait until is on DVD due to the high cost of movies. This was worth the money to see in the theatre.

By far one of the best comic book movies ever made, and the best movie of the year. Yeah!! It is Dark and intense just how a Batman movie should be. The best batman movie they will ever make and the reason that I said that is because Heath Ledger was not playing the Joker, he became The Joker. Heath left nothing of himself in the character. The whole time I felt that the Joker I grew up with jump out of the comic book into the movie. He has to be the baddest villain of all time and he manages to do that with no superpowers but with human emotion. He feels no pain he loves nobody, he has nothing to loose. He was full of funny quotes but he was pure evil. Even I was a little creep out by his performance, in a good way, just because my eyes couldn’t believe that a director actually had the b#lls to take a risk like that. This movie in my opinion should have been rated R, this movie is not Batman and Robin which clearly was target for kids under 10. You’ll be crazy not to go see this movie.

What can I say? A big step up from Batman Begins, and I loved that movie too... The acting, especially by Ledger, is superb. They didn't try to "wow" you with special effects, but the effects they did use made you say "wow." A dark, sinister plot grabs you and brings you in for the duration of the movie. At 2.5 hours, it is long, but watching Batman kick bad guy butt keeps you busy the whole time. Great movie.

WOW this movie was one of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. The whole cast did an excellent job making their character come alive on screen. The story line was great, it makes never lets you think you are going to know what is going to happen next, it is always a shock, and I love those movies. If you have any plans to go to the theatre you should go see this one hands down, I completely plan on going again.

I fell in love with Ironman and thought that it would be my movie of the summer...The Dark Knight completely blew me away. (Ten times better than Ironman!) The movie had a great storyline, although I think they tried to squeeze a lot of movie into 2 1/2 hours. Even if you have a complex against the character of Batman or comic books turned into movies, still go see this for Heath Ledgers character of the Joker. Truly an amazing piece of work.

While going to see this movie at the midnight showing, I was worried about being tired or falling asleep, however I had nothing to worry about. This movie had me sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time, without any slow scenes. Great performances by all actors/actresses and was more than worth the minor exhaution I feel at work today. I will definetly see again in the theater, and will be buying the DVD. A TRUE MUST SEE MOVIE!

Captures the essence of The Batman. Fantastic movie. Superb acting. Great character development. Hope there is a third and fourth. DC Comics/Warner should consider making a Superman Batman Movie (Christian Bale & Brandon Routh).

A perfect telling of how the clash between Batman, the Joker and Gotham City begins.
The introduction of Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent is no less than what is expected for that character and the actor. The late Heath Ledger gives a stellar performance as the infamous Joker. He is so close to what you would assume the Joke would be (much better than Jack Nicholson in my opinion). Christian Bale's follow-up to Batman Forever is outstanding as he delivers Bruce Wayne more into what Batman is and less of himself.
This installment of the series may be a bit long, but it marries all the characters, schemes and dreams all into one. A bit of warning, it does have strong "humanity can win" content, which is to be expected of the "true" character of Batman.
