As soon as the movie begins, the audience is thrown into the action. Nolan really nailed this script down, displaying intelligence, emotion, and intense action in the movie. At first I was somewhat suspicious of the hype, especially around Heath Ledger's characters mainly because I felt critics were saying he did well out of pity for the "situation" not long ago. I was wrong! Heath Ledger was incredible, made the Joker seem ridiculously menacing and twisted, and took control of every scene that he was in. Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart were amazing in their roles as well. My only real problem, and it's not that big of a deal, was Christian Bale's voice when he was Batman. I understand that Batman does some deep voice thing, but Bale sounded like he was talking through his teeth. I couldn't really take him seriously when he talked. Other than that small "problem," the movie was well done.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

One perfect movie, perfect balance of action, talent, FX and the Score. The role of the Joker was best played by Ledger. There is no doubt in my mind, he will be best known for his role as the Joker. From the start of the movie to the end, its a rollercoaster ride. id have to say its the best Batman movie to date. The talent in this movie, from Freeman, to Bale and Caine to Ledger was a perfect balance. i will be seeing this movie another 5 times this week. i recommend this movie to everyone.

First things first, is Ledger's performance worth the Oscar win? Absolutely. His role as a menace to society is so underdeveloped that it greatly works in its favor. If Ledger is not able to to win the Oscar, nomination should be for sure, I say put him up for the lifetime achievement award, if anything. Bale and Eckhart deserve recognition for their work as well, while Eckhart's character is not put into a lot of development; it is easy to see how his role evolves quickly. The supporting cast is extremely well put-together. Maggie's role is heavily underwritten but it works a lot better than Holmes' work. Freeman and Caine and Oldman really raise the ethical boundaries in the film and they do it well to ground Bale's Batman. If only Nolan were around to direct all the previous Batman entries in the franchise. Bottom-line this is just a great movie to watch over and over again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

All of the midnight showings at Willowbrook Movie Tavern were sold out and everyone left the theater with the same opinion - It was awsome!
In Batman Begins Christian Bale took the Batman character from cartoon to reality making sense of so much that was just fantasy and he continues this in this movie.
In The Dark Knight Heath Leger does the same for the cartoon villian The Joker. Although many reviewers concentrate on Leger's role, this is clearly an ensemble work where each character is equally weighted and the acting is strong across the board.
The movie is long at 2 and half hours, but not once did I look at my watch nor did anyone around me. It's a must see movie and possibly one of the best since the summer of Star Wars 3 and Batman Begins.
I do not recommend the movie however for younger viewers though. It's two and half hours of darkness and violence even though nothing truly gruesome is shown it is implied and the good guys struggle with staying the good guys and the bad guys at time appear to be good. It's definitely an adult movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Literally, several blocks of Chicago destroyed for your entertainment, at intervals in this fine film.
Surprisingly talky action-adventure. Yes, all you heard about Ledger's performance is true - its a disturbing gem. People will be talking about the pencil for months. It is a rare FX action adventure that gives almost the whole principal cast the chance to ACT in a key scene of their own.
Above average FX, except the needless sonar subplot. Dark, confused fight scenes.

I am a big fan of the original batman starring jack nicholson and micheal keaton but the story line, acting, and visuals in this movie far surpass the 1989 version. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker creates the most sinister villian EVER seen on the big screen, while Christian Bale, yet again, delivers a stunning performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman, giving the audience a true look inside the duality of the character. The story line is absolutely perfect, everything makes sense unlike the previous series of Batmans which often left you saying "Oh Come on!!! That would never happen!!". I recommend you see this movie even if you haven't seen the first one, Batman Begins, you're assured to love it!

This movie was so entertaining I had trouble sitting still in my seat!! Heath ledger blew me away with his part. He was absolutely perfect!! However, he completely showed the movie itself up. I have been waiting for this film for the past 2+ years; Heath Ledger was cast 2 years ago on my birthday; my only disappointment was that in that time, I had spoiled any subjective effect the movie might have had because of my foreknowledge of the plot (and related twists).
If you were smart enough to have stayed away from superherohype.com during the film's production, congratulations . . . this movie is going to be everything you wanted and more.
Ledger's performance is every bit as idiosyncratic and sadistic as the buzz has insinuated; he breathes disorder; his mannerisms and facial expressions fume; he inhabited this character. To say he stole the show is an understatement. Ledger's screen time is significantly less than Nicholson's Joker in Batman (89), although there is an ever-present foreboding throughout the film as The Joker lurks unseen by the audience.
Bale was . . . well, Bale. His performance as Bruce continues to grow in sync with his character(s); especially entertaining are his public displays of jackassery as the shallow megalomaniac that is Bruce Wayne, or at least as the residents of Gotham perceive him.
This film had the signature 'Nolan-twist' that he's come to be known for; multiple twists, actually; and executed with the precision that M. Night Shyamalan would give a kidney to adopt. He treats these characters with a 'real-film' approach . . . that's why they rise above the ranks of 'comic-film' characters in this film.
This film was nearly perfect; I could go on and on about my praises, so it's easier to pick out the few problems it had.
They seem to have edited a handful of scenes to make it more appropriate for a PG-13 audience; this results in momentary snippets of ??wtf?? It becomes apparent that this may also have been done to shave off as much of the already 152-minute running time; a huge dose of Batman in itself; but n’er a dull moment.
My other quam was the dimensionality of Aaron Eckhart who plays Harvey Dent. He was the third choice for this role (after both Edward Norton and Matt Damon passed) and it kind of shows. He's a good actor, even in some parts great; but his consistency pales in comparison to Bale and Ledger. He would have been my first choice for a Lifetime production made-for-TV Dark Knight, however. Ok, ok, he's not that bad, but you'll see what I mean.
That being said, the action, thrills, and psychoanalysis of the characters through this film's plot far outweigh any residual corniness this film might harbor . . . speaking of harbors . . . watch out, is that The Joker!?!?!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Much like Batman Begins, most of the characters lack depth. Bale's Bruce Wayne is mildly entertaining, but his Batman lacks even Val Kilmer's dramatic flair. Ledger's performance as the Joker seems to be the only character who actually has any kind of depth. The effects and the action are the only things that get this movie to 3 stars.

The Dark Knoight was a great movie. It really leaves you still thinking about it long after it's over. The acting was exceptional, especially Heath Ledger. It was a very sepctacular performance from all the characters. The Joker really stood out as the center of the evil in Gotham City, due to his relentless pursuit to show the dark side of man. Thriving off the deepest darkest urges of civilizations urge to be rich and survive at all costs. The visuals and graphics were in amazing detail, contrasting good and evil. The fight scenes could have done with a little better coorigraphy. But the action sequences, where Batman is running through the streets of Gotham on his Bat-bike and Bat-mobile are very well done.

I saw this movie at the 12:01am showing on Thursday night/Friday morning. It was showing on 10 different screens and they were all sold out. It was unlike any "comic book" hero movie I've ever seen. The acting was out of this world. If Heath Ledger doesn't get an Oscar nod there is no justice in the world. Every actor was at the top of their game. I would definitely see it again.

All my predictions about the plot of The Dark Knight were wrong. And I've never been happier about being wrong in my life. The film was incredible, and better than the first installment if that's even possible. Heath Ledger's Joker is as genius as everyone says. Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Aaron Eckhart give phenomenal performances as well. If you see any movie this summer, it should be The Dark Knight.

This is by far the best movie that has come out all summer. A well-rounded cast and storyline will keep you enthralled through every second. Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker was truly chilling and really shows his versatility as an actor.

Saw this sequel last night and I must say it is even better than the first. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker reinvented my whole perspective on the character. This Joker is dark, sadistic and show great depth as Batman's constant Nemesis. I also enjoyed the way Harvey Dent's descent into Two Face evolves. I especially liked the special effects/cgi used to show Harvey's maimed face. This movie is also full of many memorable one liners. My favorite scene is when the Joker is trying to work his remote detonator towards the end of the movie. I would definitely recommend this movie and cant wait for the next installment.
