This movie delivers everything you wanted and more. The action scenes are well made and make your heart race. All the actors do a great job, but Heath Ledgers performance is definitely Oscar worthy. It's very sad that he is gone now and cannot continue sharing his talent with all of us.

This move absolutly lived up to the hype. While Ledger's death was tragic and over publisiced by the media he shines as the joker and in some instances steals the show. the rest of the cast is just as amazing... also i laughed more than i expected to. i am so glad i saw this in the theater!

The whole movie from the start had me gripped to my chair. ITs filled with lots of action and great special effects. The story is really great and deep, it doesnt leave u wanting more. Absolutely one of the greatest movies of it's time! This movie will keep you in suspense for 2 1/2 hours straight. I was actually pleasingly drained after the movie. You HAVE to see it for yourself.
The action is non-stop and the plot twists and turns........go to the bathroom, concession stand, etc. before it starts; you don't want to miss one second. Definitely will see this one again and again!
The acting was superb but I would bring back Katie Holmes as Rachel (too late now!) What was she thinking when she picked that dead-end comedy, "Mad Money" over this blockbuster? Maybe it's Katie who went MAD. BIG MISTAKE!!!

This was an excellent movie, the cast did a wonderful job of portraying the characters, I felt that maggie gylenhall did a much better job than katie holmes, however she looked worn out in most of the scenes. Heath was excellent, if you did not know it was him, there would be no way to recognize his voice. Go and see this, and pay attention as there are hints about what will happen in the third movie.

This movie lived up to my high expectations. Heath Ledger will forever live on in my memory for his spectacular performance in The Dark Knight. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoyed Batman begins. Even though it is a lengthy 2.5 hours long, I did not loose my focus once or catch myself looking at my watch wondering when the movie would end. It is an action-packed, thrill ride with multiple twists. This movie is easily one of the best movies of the year.

The movie was as good as I could have hoped it would be. It portrayed Batman (and his adversaries) in a very gritty perspective and it pulled it off. Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face) did the job he was supposed to and Heath Ledger (Joker) was every bit as crazy as the commercials made me think he'd be. Even more so, actually.
The only person I didn't like was Rachel Dawes (Daws? Doz?) and the only reason I didn't like her was because she was portrayed by Maggie Gyllenhal in this movie. I don't like Maggie Gyllenhal. I don't know why, I just don't like her. But otherwise, the movie was great.
. . . yeah, I kind of even (sort of) like DC comics now.
WARNING: (for overprotective parents) the movie really shows the true colors of a psychopath and doesn't hold back much. And if you're looking for a specific example: In one of the earlier scenes of the movie the Joker does a magic trick involving a pencil and some thug's face/throat. If you think that seeing a movie of this kind would taint your child, by all means, continue sheltering him/her.

I took my 13 year old son to see the midnight showing of The Dark Night. I had planned on sleeping, but there was no need. This was a great movie full of talented actors who brought their characters to life. While the role of the Joker was very well played by the late Heath Ledger, I believe all of the actors did a great job. This movie left to your imagination any violent events which I don't think we get to experience in the movies anymore.

Batman is the hero in the comic but the joker played by heath ledger was the real hero who saved this movie. If you are a heath ledger fan this is one of his best if not best roles he did in his highly awarded career. This movie 2hr and 47min long was only good with the joker in the scene which was about half the movie. Then the other half had you wishing that the joker was in the scene because without him it made you want to fall asleep. Bale as batman a poor choice and two face not a very good job but scary at first. So go see it for heath and you will try to talk like him when the movie is over it happens to everyone.

Very well done. I was afraid that there was too much hype because of Heath Ledger's death, but he gave the performance of his life and definitely was the best actor in the film. His psychotic portrayal of The Joker may have even topped Jack Nicholson's in the original Batman movie. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to go right now.

Ledger's Joker was amazing! He did a great job pulling together all the faces of Joker, from Jack Nicholson's version, the animated series and the comics! Bale does another great job as Batman even though I'm still a Micheal Keaton fan. I'm gonna watch it a second time, worth waiting in line for 2 hours at midnight.

I have been highly anticipating this movie since the reveal at the end of Batman Begins. Since then I have realized how much I have obsessed over Batman since my childhood. Once I realized this I began to dive deeper and deeper into the comics of Batman. I realized how sick and twisted the Joker could be during that time and I knew that Heath Ledger would have a lot to live up to, since Jack Nicolson watered down the role. Therefore, when the movie started and I saw how hardcore Heath Ledger was, I knew the movie was going to be flawless. Luckily, I was not disappointed in the least. The switch in the actress for rachel was a little disappointing, but she did a good job in the role so it c an be overlooked. Christian Bale continued to perfect his role as Bruce Wayne and Batman, I feel that he truly brought the characters to life and made them as complex and believable as a real human being. The movie was a thrill a minute with an in depth story to support it. The way that the characters developed was unbelievable and really helped me to connect with the characters. All in all the movie was everything I had hoped for and more. It is truly a sad event for more than the sake of Batman that Heath had to meet such an early end. He will be missed and for this unbeatable performance, unforgettable for his best role. Best super hero movie ever!

i have already seen this movie twice and im incredibly impressed. The filming, the directing, the acting, the editing is all superb. Everyone must see this movie in respect of Heath Ledger. His acting is more than incredible in this film. This is by far my favorite film of the year and possibly in my top ten of favorite films of all times
If you like crime-action-drama-films--this is your movie
if you like action scene after action scene--this is your movie

This adaptation of storyline from the Batman saga is simply one of the best ever done. While there were still ample effects requisite to any action film, this one went further. Atypical to many action films, there is a strong sense of character development; even compared to the previous Batman movies. Equally intriguing is the apparent social commentary played out toward the end in the Joker's last act of mayhem. And, of course, there is the Joker himself. I was very interested in seeing how Ledger would play the role, given Nicholson's wonderful portrayal of the character before. The late actor did not disappoint. His rendition of the Joker is captivating. The detached, psychotic, sociopathic man you see on the screen is beyond convincing. In all, this was a masterful addition to the saga we have loved for so long.

First let me say this is by far my favorite movie ever, I'm not just saying this because I just saw it. Much like I've erased the Matrix Sequels from my mind, I can now erase the 1989 Batman. I remember liking that movie as a kid, but as I got older and learned more about the characters through the comics, I started to hate that movie. They changed the story too much. Additionally, the Joker was like 25ish when he killed Batman's parents. So he should've been like 50 when he became the Joker. Anyway, this is not a critique on the '89 movie but a review of The Dark Knight.
Let me start off with the negatives.
1. I didn't like that they kept Rachel Dawes in the story. If Katie Holmes wasn't going to come back, they should've just dropped the character and gone with a new chick. Maggie Gyllenhaal did a good job, and she had Katie Holmesesque mannerisms, but that made me notice her more. Had I not seen Batman Begins, I would have absolutely no problem with this. I am in no way comparing the two, but am just saying it was weird, kind of like when they kept switching the Catwomen on the 60s Batman show.
2. I would not recommend the movie for children under 10, but that's me. And I would maybe end up becoming the Joker if I was 9 and my parents wouldn't let me see the movie.
3. The movie is so good that you might catch yourself looking at your watch to see how much is left. I kept looking worried that the movie was going to end.
On to the good stuff. I don't want to give away plot so I am just going to say that this was the best Joker portrayal ever. I had my doubts when I saw the first Joker pictures, but the writers, costume designers and of course the late Heath Ledger did an excellent job representing the villainous Joker.
Lastly, they should award a Nobel Peace Prize (Ha ha ha) to Christopher Nolan for reviving the Batman franchise. I strongly agree with the Heath Ledger Oscar nomination.
If you liked Batman Begins, you will most likely love The Dark Knight.

Not being an avid follower of either the Batman movies or the comic books I went in to this semi-blind. I thought the story was intense and it captured my attention right away. The acting was flawless and after this if any more Batman movies come out I will go see them right away. I would recommend this movie to any person who likes Batman and or other super hero movies.
