Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, makes this Batman both realistically evil and sinister in the classic Good Vs Evil battle for Gotham City. Christian Bale redefined the role of Batman during Batman Begins, and now the bad guy gets a whole new make over from the comic and earlier Batman movies. Ledger's Joker is true evil and a psychopathic madman in a twisted clown face. His performance makes you believe Joker is pure evil, without remorse or regrets, Ledger deserves Oscar for this role, which has redefined the Evil Comic Book Villian for all future comic book to live action movies. The action, special effects and fast pacing make this movie a bit difficult to follow at times, but continue the thrills that Director Christopher Nolan started in Batman Begins. Batman is no longer a dual personality, He is a hero, using a black bat suit to protect his identity and those around him from harm, He uses his Batman vigilantism to turn Gotham around, all the while taking the heat from the police who could not do what he could do and does.

I thought this was what the Batman movies should have always been. The performances in the film were great and the action was nail biting. This is a movie that I want to see over and over again.

This film was very pleasing to the eye, I did find there wasn't a great soundtrack however. It seemed to quiet at times of action.
I think that Batman Begins was a better overall movie.
4 Stars from me, well spent 11.50!

The action sequences were amazing and the special effects. Heath Ledger's version of the Joker was excellent. I was creeped out by his character and I think all of the actors involved did a marvolous job.

This movie was incredibly amazing! I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys movies that have some action and a ton of plot. Not to mention Heath Ledger's role as the Joker was unbelievable, one that you must see to believe. The multiple story lines kept the movie interesting and the explosions, comedic relief, and painful punishments were what completed the entire experience. This is a movie to remember.

Heath Ledger is as excellent as you've heard. Aaron Eckhart is almost as good. The action sequences are tense and spectacular. The pace is breakneck despite 2 1/2 hours of length. Overall, the film is bleak and violent and surprisingly unengaging. As fine as "Dark Knight" is, I had forgotten about it before I got back to my car.

Jack Nicholson created the Joker's silver screen presence, but Heath Ledger more than surpassed it. No other Batman film (or superhero film, for that matter) matters more than The Dark Knight. See it, and you will understand.
In addition to its overwhelming entertainment value, The Dark Knight is full of valuable lessons such as doing the right thing in spite of terrorizing opposition, heart wrenching setbacks, and fickle negative public opinion.
We freedom-loving citizens can learn a great deal from this visionary masterpiece.

"The Dark Knight" is definitely one of the best movies of the year, although it comes second-best to "Batman Begins." BBegins, aside, Christian Bale is obviously the best Batman of them all, and he continues the new and better legacy of the Batman movies with "The Dark Knight." Although Bale is still great in this sequel to Batman Begins, Heath Ledger (as all critics have repeatedly pointed out) definitely takes the cake as The Joker; and quite possibly the best villain, albeit a different kind of villain than some of the others. I say the Christopher Nolan Batmans are so different, because they take on an immensely darker and more serious nature than some of the others- which in my opinion puts them above with a less cartoonish nature, and a more disturbing outlook. Barely, did "The Dark Knight" get a PG-13 rating! Very action-packed, and somewhat violent, this movie barely got PG-13 because there is little blood splattering and no expletives. Yet the action does not falter. It is very sad that this was Ledger's last finished performance, because we see here that he is at the top of his career (including Brokeback off course). He makes the character The Joker his own creation in a twisted sadistic fashion that really puts him at the top of the list of actors who make their character so real and surreal at the same time. Four stars instead of five, because I wish they would have had more room for more Batman, and less Gotham politics. BUT this movie perfectly sets the stage for more Batmans to come (hopefully with Bale and Nolan!)

I have to say, I came into the movie with a very high expectation, and I was totally blown away. Heath Ledger pulled off a Joker that was completely different than the comic Joker, but completely amazing in his own way. Aaron Eckhart played a flawless Harvey Dent, right down to Twoface's mad mood swings as his regained and lost his humanity. Christain Bale carried a dark and angry batman like he was born into the role. Toss in a few nice nods to the comic book (I love how they nodded to Jokers infinite backgrounds) and a nice spattering of humor, and you make a midnight show that I was very happy to see and take 3 hrs of sleep before work!

Stunning performance by the late Heath Ledger combined with Aaron Eckhart's perfect portrayal of "Two-Face" Harvey Dent made this film an absolute must-see. I could not be more glad that this movie returned to the darker side of Batman. This film was almost 100% straight from the comic series! Who could ask for more?

I wasn't quite overwhelmed with anticipation to see it, but it was still very good. I must say I was skeptical with all the buzz about Heath Ledger's performance, but it is not overrated, and in fact is quite memorable and frightening. Jack Nicholson might've been the original "Joker-you-love-to-hate", but Ledger truly tops. I was scared of him! I was not scared of Jack's Joker.

I was on the edge of me seat for the entire movie- I can't believe it was two and a half hours long!! Heath Ledger was incredible, as was the entire cast. Special effects were fantastic!

Where do we begin? When I first saw "Batman Begins," I liked how it went, but somehow it didn't completely feel like a Batman film. "The Dark Knight" changed that: Gotham looks grittier, I now love the tumbler, and I've even gotten use to Christian Bale's Batman voice (Kevin Conroy still does it best).
Almost all of the early reviews criticized the film as being too dark and serious. Compared to earlier film adaptations that's true, but compared to the comic this movie got it right. However, none mentions the light comedy strewn within, which is just enough to be true to the comics. This is seen in one of my favorite parts of the film, the interaction between Bruce Wayne and Michael Caine's Alfred.
That leads us to the biggest attraction to the film: Heath Ledger's Joker. I loved the dark performance I saw him in the trailer, but it got myself thinking: "Why so serious?" Then I saw the movie. Everybody talked about how scary he was, which is true, but he is also damn hilarious. You can't take your eyes off him, even when he is shown briefly. He has officially replaced Jack Nicholson and even Mark Hamill as the best screen Joker.
Amongst all this, we can't forget Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), because this movie is also about him and his eventual tragedy. Hell, the biggest influence of Christopher Nolan on both Batman films was "The Long Halloween", which was all about Dent and his ill-fated transformation.
Every person in the film, from Morgan Freeman's Lucius Fox and Gary Oldman's Gordon, to the the lower rung cops and criminals, all feel like rounded characters with their own backstories, and rounds out this incredible work.
This is a must watch film. Yes it's a 2 1/2 hour film, but I would not cut a thing. The action was big, the twists unexpected, the emotions deep, and feeling afterwards is that you want more (apparently I'm amongst the minority on that last one since many thinks it was long).

I'd say this is one of the best action films of the year. Well coordinated action sequences, brilliant plot, and the fantastic performances by all the contributing actors fairly sum up my review for the highly anticipated "The Dark Knight".

I have always been a HUGE Batman fan. I was less excited about the darkness of Batman Begins and extremely skeptical about the Dark Knight. I had sorted feelings due to the "buzz" about Heath Ledger and feeling it is merely due to his untimely death. As much as I think Christian Bale is a phenomenal talent, his portrayal of Batman completely pales to Heath Ledger's disturbing yet FLOORING manifestation of the Joker. I only wish the movie concentrated more on Ledger's character.

If you're contemplating what movie to see this summer, this is one you can NOT miss out on! No matter what kind of movie you like, you WILL enjoy this one. The acting is exceptional, the directing was well done, the plot is unpredictable at every twist and turn. The Dark Knight is truly a very very well done movie.
