Only regret is not seeing in IMAX first. Will go again for that experience. A little long, but defintely the best of the Batman movies. Ledger was totally immersed (maybe even lost) in the Joker character.

A very modern view on the joker and Batman very dark never taking the easy out always keeping the auidience on their tows cause you know it could go badly cause no punches were pulled

The Dark Knight is quite simply the kind of movie that makes you lean forward in your seat and ignore a rumbling stomach or full bladder because you don't want to miss a thing. It is also the kind of movie that you'll probably walk out of saying, 'I'm going to need to see that again.' Christopher Nolan's delightfully dark follow-up to Batman Begins is a masterfully crafted summer blockbuster that's slick but not stupid, with Gotham City standing in for New York in a thinly-veiled but surprisingly poignant commentary on the state of post-9/11 America.
The film features a tremendous cast, including Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes in an abrupt but overdue replacement of Katie Holmes from the previous film. All of the principals are wonderful, as you'd expect them to be, but Heath Ledger as The Joker steals the film. His performance, the most complex of his too-short career, is the best thing about a great film. In fact, the Joker's perfectly blood-curdling laugh is reason enough to go see the movie, as Ledger makes Nicholson's Joker look like he should be entertaining at children's birthday parties.
The Dark Knight is an intelligent, wildly entertaining summer movie that is best enjoyed on a big screen. Do yourself a favor and go see it. Just leave the kids at home.

The first comic book movie worthy of an oscar nomination (if not win). Not to mention Ledger's amazing performance as the Joker! He truly deserves an oscar, probably one of the best portrayals of a villian ever. It's too bad he's not around to see how people are reacting to the performance. Nolan has done it again and honestly the movie is great you forget it's even batman part of the tiem. It just seems like an amazing crime action/drama, with a little dark comic relief.

While I expected nothing short of perfection from Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, I had my own reservations about the late Heath Ledger as the iconic villain- The Joker. After seeing the film I am pleased to report that my anxiety on behalf of Mr. Ledger was completely unnecessary. Heath Ledger took on the role of The Joker with the skill of a sincerely gifted artist, and the dedication of someone committed to living up to generations of fans.
Aside of Ledger's stunning performance, "Dark Knight" proved itself a worthy drama and action film not only suited for comic book lovers, but for movie go-ers far and wide. The film was a triumph.

I was worried that this movie wouldn't live up to it's hype. I was worried that the drama was only because Heath Ledger had passed away, BUT it lives up to every expectation and then some. This is a must see movie....not for Batman fans, but for anyone that enjoys a good movie. A very excellent and thrilling movie!!!

The movie was very entertaining. Although it was only PG-13, it was very graphic. I did not really care for Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel, but she was about as good as Katie Holmes: somewhat lackluster.
The movie was extremely long, but not unbearably so. There were times that we thought the movie was going to wrap up but another plot turn would continue the story line.
I think that the development of the continuing characters was great and I would definitely see another sequel if it is of this caliber.

Awesome movie! It was just the perfect mix of everything. Unlike previous Batman movies where one character was the sole reason the movie was watchable (ie Jim Carry as Riddler), Heath Ledger was an incredible Joker and was a perfect compliment to the movie!

6 stars! The story had a great plot and wonderful actors- who performed their best yet. There's a lot of action, little romance, and AMAZING acting. Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart , Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman -this a full-cast of males - created the best Bathman I've ever seen in my life. This is a MUST SEE IN THEATERS! It's not the same at home w/o great sound and picture quality!

Heath Ledger is just fantastic! I saw the preview for The Dark Knight last year at an Imax theatre before I Am Legend and I was just in awe. I had no idea that it was Heath Ledger playing the joker at first because he just disappears into his character so well, which I think is the definition of a really amazing actor. Since that preview/short much has been said about Heath's amazing performance and I certainly hope he gets nominated for his work. The cast works together so well in this film. Christian Bale is by far the best Batman!!! Also,I am so glad to see Maggie Gyllenhaal instead of Katie Holmes, Maggie does a much better job! Awesome movie, everyone must see this film.

Heath Ledger gives a mind blowing perforance and really makes the transition into the joker well and in my opinion definitely deserves an oscar for the role. Christian Bale yet again does another great job of playing the caped crusader and really brings batman to a whole new level that he has never gone to before. Overall the movie keeps your attention the entire time, does not disappoint, and is worth seeing again and again.

Heath Ledger made an excellent Joker. The comic book joker was a Maniacal Psychopath. In the movie, Ledger portrays an elevated Maniacal Psychopath. He never really loses his cool, yet he goes way over the edge. He pushes Batman to nearly cross the threshold of what he represents. They also show a more realistic representation of Two Face. Very well scripted.

I am not of the ilk that feels dark=sophisticated=good. I did not enjoy this movie. I can appreciate the excellent performances, but I was unable to care about any of the characters. I would certainly discourage people from taking their children.
