I am not of the ilk that feels dark=sophisticated=good. I did not enjoy this movie. I can appreciate the excellent performances, but I was unable to care about any of the characters. I would certainly discourage people from taking their children.
I honestly was not expecting to love this movie. Now, having seen it TWICE in three days, "love" is not a strong enough word to describe how I feel about Wall-E. I think the folks at Pixar are getting better and more brilliant with every film. I was so touched by this movie on many levels. Wall-E is so charming and so easy to fall in love with, and the movie has some wonderful messages.
OK, so it's over the top, unbelievable, whatever. It's a great way to pass a couple hours in that old-fashioned action serial fashion. It is great to see Indy and Marion together again, and Mutt is a fun new character. Of all the cruddy movies we will be inundated with this summer, this one is good fun for the whole family.
