Great (Rated 4) for mature adults and teens. Too violent (Rated 1) for young children, immature teens and even adults who would be influenced by the justified violence. It is this violent factor that makes it qualified.
Beyond that it is extremely well made and acted. All principals were great. Heath was, as everyone is saying, remarkable in his unique portrayal of the Joker. Certainly award material. One fo the best BatMan movies and up there with Ironman in superhero category. I liked Ironman better.
Too bad we can't make great movies without glorifying violence. There were some redeeming qualities (being vague to avoid ruining it for viewers) but they would be lost on the immature.

I seen this movie last night to a sold out theater. I was so excited, and expecting such an epic that after the movie I felt very dissatisfied. Too much hype, and the movie just didnt deliver what was expected. Not a bad movie by no means, but needed more. Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the Joker, he made the movie. But the overall movie was just average to me. You should go see it, a lot of people loved it. I thought "Iron Man" and "Transformers" were much better movies.

We have seen a number of super-hero movies that explore the darker aspects of being a super-hero (Spider-man, Ghost Rider, Hulk) but this one does it best. You can really see Batman teeter on the edge when he is trying desperately to stop the Joker.
This is a much darker and less "fun" version than the original Batman with Keaton and Nicholson. Ledger's joker is different having a much darker and sinister edge.
It is a long movie that is for sure. It doesn't drag but I found that I almost needed a break from the high drama of the Joker plot. I almost wish they had setup the movie to require a sequel to complete it, so they could spend more time exploring the other characters in the movie. But all in all a good flick.

Definitely a must see for any Batman enthusiast. Packed with action, but I think the beginning had more violence than necessary. I don't want to be more specific and spoil parts of the beginning of the movie. Perhaps it was felt that they needed to make it very clear just how sick and twisted the joker is. If that is the reason, I suppose I can give the director as pass on it. However, parents that are somewhat sensitive to how much violence their children see will definitely be bothered.

This is the Batman Movie to top all. I love the way the plot line in The Dark Knight and Batman Begins in, and there is a lot of twist an turns, always keeping you on the edge of your seat. And Heath Ledger performance is great, if they ever decided to bring back Joker again in this series I do not know who can top him off. I just hope that they keep this series going because I am loving it all. Dark Knight Rocks.......GO SEE IT!!!!

This was honestly the best movie that I have ever seen. The characters were so in depth and perfectly emulated that I will go see this movie again and again. This was heath ledgers sign off as an actor and his performance in this movie will go down in history as one of the best ever.
You owe it to yourself to go and watch this film as it will be the next record breaker in the box offices.

Although it ran at least a half-hour too long, Dark Knight lived up to all of my expectations, and was the best super hero movie sequel since Spider Man 2. Heath Ledger's performance was indeed excellent, and not just hype due to his untimely death.

I went to see this movie as I am a BIG Ledger fan. I have to say that he outdid himself on this movie. Christian Bale as proven again that he makes an excellent Batman. The plot of the movie managed to keep me on the edge of my seat. Anyone who doesn't see this movie is missing out on the best movie I have seen in years!!!

The Dark Knight was one of those rare treats you experience once or twice every decade. The Dark Knight leads a small group of films this millennium so far that have refreshed the movie going experienced, and inspired me on a personal and professional level.
An up and coming filmmaker myself, I was reminded scene after scene why I have always wanted to make movies. Fine performances from all cast members, notably the late Heath Ledger who would have been our next Brando, or more. The best Joker there ever will be.
Yes, it is long, and you wonder where it will end, and how, but it is much like being at a bar on daylight savings time when you gain an hour; you don't complain.
In the end, it had enough SFX but not too much. It was a dark, mesmerizing, nearly impeccable piece of film making that is ultimately a very human film, and one anyone can relate to one way or another.

When you first start to watch this blockbuster you know what you're expecting. A summer action flick. The last performance of Heath Ledger. And an all-star cast. But what you get is so much more. The Dark Knight struggles with the idea of nature vs. nurture and other psychological theories. Heath Ledger as the infamous Joker ultimately steals the show. Besides his questionable throaty interpretation of Batman's voice, Christian Bale knocks the ball out of the park as well. The plot is very enticing and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I think we can expect a sequel in the future and even Oscar nominations.

Even with the hype, the movie did not disappoint. Bale, Ledger, Oldham and Eckhart were terrific. Movie had lots of action, limited love story and overall arc to story was dark and appealing to adult sensibilities.

Very good movie but the editing should have been better.To go to different seens with the same actors at diferent locations was like they had time travel . No time transpired and they were in a new place. Other than that it was a good movie.

There was not a dull moment in the movie! It started out intense and stayed that way with appropriate and few spurts of humor. I wasn't a batman fan but this movie was amazing. I will definitely go and see it again.

the graphics were amazing, the story was perfect, it was dark it was evil it was heroic , but heath ledger took the movie to a whole new level, he had an oscar winning performance that still sends shivers down my spine when i think about it.. i highly recommed this movie to anyone

This is one intense movie, with a masterful performance by an unrecognizable Heath Ledger as the Joker. Just saw this yesterday afternoon, 19 years after I went to see Tim Burton's Batman.
I was a little surprised at the ending. Not to spoil it but it seems a little impractical at this point. And, as excellent as it was, I'm sure 10 minutes or so could've been trimmed. Two and a half hours is just too much, even for this movie.
Still debating as to whether TDK or Iron Man is the best movie this year. They're both damn fine adaptations.
Any Batman fan, nee any movie fan should enjoy this one.

This is a must-see. Not once during the movie did I get distracted. The Joker character was fantastic, and I thought all the acting was superb. It's the best Batman yet. I can't wait for the next one, but I bet it will have a difficult time living up to this one.

This by far is the best summer movie. Heath Ledger was great and Christian Bale as usual doesn't disappoint. The action scenes were so realistic, one couldn't help but get caught up in the movie. Great movie!

Just saw The Dark Knight and words can barely describe it. What an amazing, complex and intricate script. Imagine infusing the crime drama of Heat with the characters of the Batman mythos but leave behind almost any semblance of a comic universe. The story was great. The acting spot on. The effects and action sequences were awe inspiring. In the realm of comic book movies there has never been anything like this. This is an adult movie. I can barely imagine a child any less than 15 enjoying the content, most wouldnt understand it. Its too sophisticated, complex and mature for kids.
As for Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker...Well I think Oscar talk may be a bit much. Dont get me wrong, he is amazing and has plenty of rich dialog but I didnt think he was any better or worse than Jack in Burtons original. Obviously the tone of this movie is much darker and without camp so his Jokers performance was equal to that task. Lets not forget Bale though, he IS Batman, the only authentic Batman as far as I am concerned. And this is by far the best of all the Batman iterations and movies thus far. It is distinctly far better and more ambitious than Batman Begins, which I liked fine.
The Dark Knight will challenge most comic moviegoers who expect typical mindless popcorn fare. And I for one think that the comic genre is is better for it.
PS. A word to the wise, TDKs running time is 2 and 1/2 hours which translates to about 2 hours and forty-five minutes. So take appropiate bladder measures if you dont want to miss anything.
