This is one of the few times where a movie lives up to its hype. Bale, Eckheart, Oldman & Caine all turn in top notch performances; however, it is Ledger's mesmorizing performance as the Joker that makes the movie. Both his performance and the movie deserve Oscar nominations.
The movie flies by even at 2 1/2 hour run time. Strong script, amazing cinematography (I-MAX is the way to go on this one) and solid direction backed by all actors on full cylindars.
A caution to parents, this is a violent movie and deserves a PG-13 if not R rating, see it first before taking the kids. By all accounts this is a must see.

If you came to me two years ago and said that Heath Ledger would make a perfect Joker, I would have shrugged you off. Let me make this perfectly clear: Heath Ledger IS THE PERFECT JOKER. Amazing . . . 'nuff said.
Far from the "ha ha-circus" Joker played by veteran Jack in the first Burton installment, Ledger totally takes this character to another dimension. Sick, twisted, sometimes-likeable, and most importantly: an absolute sociopath. From the first "pencil incident" to the philosophical justifications of his behavior, this is a complete and perfectly developed villian.
Nolan keeps getting better on every level, Bale is near perfect . . .I have nothing even remotely bad to say about this film..
IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.

Went to see Dark Knight last night and was completely blown away. I am a huge Batman movie fan so I knew I was going to like the movie because of that. However, this movie goes above and beyond what any film has done for comic book hereos. I will not be going in to detail about scenes as to not give any spoilers. But here is a good warning to parents: Beware for children younger than 13 or even those teens who are squimmish. This movie is terrifying at times. There are a couple of scenes where I literally had to close my eyes because the images or the parts leading up to the image were too much for me. Of course Heath Ledger is amazing. No doubt the best villian ever on the screen. And Eckart plays Harvey Dent so well. But there has not been enough about Christian Bale. He is by far my favorite actor to play Batman, and not just because he is gorgeous. He lets us see the side of Batman I've been wanting to see for a long time. And I thank him and Christopher Nolan for bringing it to the screen. I will definitely go to see this again, maybe this time on IMAX. Don't miss this movie but think twice about taking your young kids.

When I went to see The Dark Knight, I had very high expectations. I hate this because it usually sets me up for a huge letdown(i.e. Spiderman 3, Pirates 2 and 3) However, after seeing The Dark Knight I did not have this letdown. I was left fulfilled, not needing more. Yes it was a great script. Yes the directing was amazing. Yes the cinematography was fantastic. But what made this movie so great was the casting. Every character was played to perfection; and none better than Heath Ledger(RIP) as the Joker. He was able to play a villain that was so creepy and devastating, but at the same time you find yourself liking him. The subtle mannerisms that he had just made his character that much more real. This movie was wonderful and just when you think you were reaching the climax of the story line, they take it one step further. I could not have asked for more, and that's no joke.

h. ledger(?) was great, he captured the essence of the character ( joker), too a tee, the little quirks that a complete whacko would exhibit.The rest of the movie paled in comparison to his performance , just a little bit too long, and to many continues from scenes that could have been the end of the movie. Excellent film. Heath Ledger did an excellent job playing the Joker. Better than Jack Nicholson...not really just different, two different takes the on Joker. I really like Heath's meniachal character versus the more humorous Jack. Aaron Eeckhart did a great job as Harvey Dent. Christian Bale plays a decent Batman, always coming off as cheesy but difficult task to not be.
Overall excellent film, I don't think Batman fans will be disappointed. It doesn't leave you with a villain to look forward to for the next film but that's part of the suspense I suppose.

What can I say about this movie that others have not? I will confess that I have been a fan of Christian Bale's for almost 2 decades, so it is a treat when I get to see him in a genre that I love as well.
The movie was great! Not only were the performances spot on, but the plot was well thoughtout and did not let the extravagent stunts steal away from the theme of the film.
Overall I was most impressed by Aaron Eckhart. I expect excellent performances from the likes of Bale, Caine, Freedman, and Oldman, but Eckhart's turn as Harvey Dent/Two Face was most surprising of all. While ledgers death is tragic and his performace will be hailed through Oscar season, Eckhart's turn as the DA turned villian was one worth watching.

I waited for this movie all year and it went above and beyond my expectations ! The movie was modern film at it's finest and i wouldnt of wanted it any other way. Christopher Nolan deserves an award for how great he was not to mention the late Heath Ledger whom everyone believes is just a "rumor" for an Oscar nominee. Jack Nicholson's role of joker in 1989's Batman was nothing compared to Ledger's role of joker. Bale returned as Batman as he should have and proved once again that he is the best for the Batman role. Everyone should see this movie it keeps you on the edge of your seat and for a 2 1/2 hour movie it went by fast because you are soo drawn into the action. Five stars and two thumbs up from me !

I went to the midnight screening to see this movie, and all i can say is; so worth it!!! This movie was AMAZING, awesome story, great action sequences, and an amazing performance by Heath Ledger. This movie was so inticately written, with twist, and story elements that made it just so great. The ending was great and leaves you both shocked and wanting more. I truly recommend this to anyone who wants to see not only a great comic book movie, but a great movie.

"The Dark Knight" was what I really expected: excellent acting, brilliant action, and a great story from beginning to end. The hype for this movie was not over exaggerated at all. The movie lived up to everyones expectations, and I mean both Batman fans and people who don't really care about Batman at all and just watched the movie for enjoyment. Christian Bale from "Batman Begins" comes back to play Bruce Wayne/'Batman' in the movie. Bale happens to be, in my opinion, a great choice to play as the Batman. His acting just surpasses and defeats any other man who has played the role as Batman. Heath Ledger, like Bale, took his role as 'The Joker' seriously and this is actually a reason why the movie turned out so well. He played it so well, that you think 'The Joker' is a real person and is not being played by Ledger. Christopher Nolan has produced the two most darkest Batman movies of all time and he has for sure captured the darkness of the Batman story. I give "The Dark Knight" a two thumbs up and 5/5 stars; a must-see.

This rattled me to the core. It was an unflinchingly bleak allegory of the War on Terror. Batman and Gotham's leaders were forced to question how far they would go to fight crime and terrorism, when faced with a villain hellbent on raining down death and chaos. Heath Ledger disturbed me deeply. Brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and directed throughout.
I'm just surprised the studio ever let it through, without at least inserting some lighter elements or a "happier" ending. I suspect this is the depressing Part 2 of a trilogy; the Empire Strikes Back or Two Towers for the Chris Nolan tour-de-force Batman saga. So hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel. But no light in the movie at all.

Christian Bale, and the late Heath Ledger are an amazing team. The techianical support and production designers did a fantastic job as well. I would recommand this movie to my friends! Be careful to make age approperite decision when allowing your childern see this, it is a dark flim. A perfect Comicbook movie!
