A dark, nasty, brooding, manic depressive film about crime, heroism, sanity, and purpose that outdoes every superhero movie since Superman. Richard Donner may have redefined the genre in 1978, and Tim Burton may have helped in 1989, but Nolan has plumbed the comic book film's uncharted depths and come up smiling maniacally. Heath Ledger more than deserves an Oscar, and not just because he's dead. He deserves it because I've already started to forget Jack Nicholson's Joker. This is one dark, dark knight. Why so serious indeed.

This movie is absolutely terrific! Not only was Heath Ledger's Joker unbelievable in every way possible, but the entire cast out did themselves. Even though the movie was over 2 and a half hours in length, it was worth every second! Great plot, great character development, and probably the best sequel I've seen.

I checked the ticket by online on friday, there were sold until almost last showing time, so me, my bf anh his bro went to cinema half hour ago, but seats were pucked already, so we sat seprately. The movie was a best movie I have seen this summmer and very action and meaninful even though the movie was so long about 2 and half hour, I really enjoyed it.

Heath Ledger performance was wonderful! He outshined Nickleson's Joker. I kept waiting for Heath to appear in the next scene! It's a long movie and NOT for kids with ADD. Any Batman fan will enjoy this as the BEST of any of the Batman movies!

Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, and all of the other performers were amazing. The story was awesome and full of a lot of surprises. The Joker is definitely a twisted character and you truly never know what you will get next out of this guy.

the acting was great all around but heath ledger did an incredile job as the joker, he was captivating you could keep your eye off of him and there wasn't a sceane where he didn't make you laugh and in that same moment give you chills down your spine. its a longer movie but it carries it self well. its definately worth the money to see it.

The Dark Night was funny and scary all at the same time. Heath Ledger did a wonderful job as the Joker and this was not a movie you would expect him to be in. For him to be a crazy, psycho, deranged man (and the joker none the less). Besides that the movie drew you in. When you thought it was going to end when they first caught the Joker, really that was only half way. The movie was well plotted, but sadly not as good as Batman Begins. The general feel of The Dark Night was totally different. Another thing that was disappointing was that Racheal Dawes was played by another actor. She did not have the same personality or feel for the part. Over all A good movie

It seems today that good movie sequels are far and few between, especially when it comes to the superhero type. However, The Dark Knight went above and beyond all expectations I had.
The role of the Joker has been played and filled dozens of times, both in live action and animated, therefore I can assume that trying to make the character different than all others past has to be a complicated ordeal. To simplify this new face to an old character - Heath Ledger was phenomenal. I fell that he played the role exactly how the Joker was meant to be. Not silly, and full of mischief, but psychopathic, ordered, and terrifying.
I think that the untimely and unfortunate death of Ledger may have given him a lot of the attention for this film, however, Christian Bale was amazing as well. This Batman we have is realistic, and perfectly acted by Bale. If Bruce Wayne were real, I would bet money that he would look, and act, like the Christian Bale Bruce.
I could only think of a few problems with the movie. The Katie Holmes/Maggie Gyllenhaal swap is noticeable if you know it's not that same actress from the first film. I felt that Rachel Dawes looked older than she needed to be.
Also, I would have liked to see some kind of reference to a future villain. In a lot of the comic book movies theres usually something that hints at a future film, and unfortunately with this one, I didn't see it.
It was still a wonderful movie, and my qualms were heavily outweighed by the greatness of the whole. I look forward to the sequel, and hope that it doesn't take another four years to make.

Dark Knight is probably the least "cartoony" of any superhero movie to date. It's like watching The Departed only it's got Batman, Joker, and more explosions. Monster's Ball was probably the first time I began to realize what a good actor Ledger was, and his death is all the more of a tragedy in that his Joker performance lives up to every bit of the hype and would have thrust him onto the A-List, much like Iron Man is doing for Downey Jr (not to mention that Christian Bale has been one of my favorite actors in the world since American Psycho). The first hour or so might play a bit slow in parts, but by the half way mark it kicks into action-thriller mode straight through to the end. Also at the half way mark we get an action sequence that rivals the Batmobile chase from Batman Begins, which literally culminates in a theater full of cheers. Cheers and even emotional beats are reached in a truimph of the human spirit dilema near the end of Act 2, while the very last shot of the film also summons the applause it deserves as it cuts to dark . Intense psychology, humor, action, tension, heavy plot, and plenty of eye-popping spectacle makes this one of the best and most satisfying movies of the decade.

I saw The Dark Knight---and I must say that it is actually worth all of the hype! This is the first Batman movie I have ever seen. Yes, I know I should be shot for not having seen one, but this one is worth seeing. It's easy to watch and follow, you need not have seen the other movies to understand this movie. But when you go, prepare to keep your eyes open ALL the time, because something is always happening. So worth it!

I have to admit this movie could be one of the best acting roles that Heath Ledger has ever performed. You forget that he is Heath and only see him as the Joker. I enjoyed the movie, although I was disappointed in the limited time that two-face appeared. I thought they could have continued with that role. This movie was absolutely incredible. I've spent this summer trying not to have lots of expectations going into movies and I can honestly say that no matter how high my expectations may have been about The Dark Knight, it exceeded every single one of them!
Christian Bale combines the perfect amount of the intellectual Bruce Wayne with the brash and headstrong Batman. I was skeptical about the Oscar buzz for Heath Ledger, but he seriously, seriously deserves it. He was absolutely, insanely (no pun intended) fascinating and frightening as the Joker. Aaron Eckhart really surprised me as Harvey Dent - he was really great as Gotham's "White Knight."
Morgan Freeman, Sir Michael Caine and Gary Oldman all reprise their roles as excellent as any character they've ever played; and Maggie Gyllenhaal does a fantastic job of playing Rachel Dawes, especially when she goes through something I never expected.
All in all, this movie was absolutely far more than I ever expected it to be. EASILY the biggest hit of the summer - and not just because of box office sales. I have every intention of seeing it again, only in IMAX the next time around.
The Dark Knight soars miles above all the other blockbusters of 2008 - it will absolutely blow you away.

I have been going to big budget comic book and action movies for a long time and this is the best one of all. Christian Bale has recreated Batman into the most iconic of the comic book heroes since Christopher Reed amazed us with Superman, yet Bale's Batman is not a one-note goody two-shoes. He is a complicated, flawed human being wrestling with the questions of what to do with his enormous wealth and power -- similar to Spiderman's coping with the responsibility brought on by good fortune -- and being a man with a complex, dark, even at some points evil past -- similar to Ironman's dissipated and psychologically damaged beginnings. Bale's Batman is better than Downey's Ironman. But the real difference between The Dark Knight as a single movie and the other comic books is the villain, the late Heath Ledger's Joker. It is the Joker that elevates this movie above the other comic book movies because even with all the technology and the explosions and the action, we can see an acting duel that is more entertaining, more muscular and more artful than we see in most movies of any genre. The supporting cast is just right. Maggie Gyllenhall provides a more equal match as a love interest to both Bale and Aaron Eckhart. They are both in love with a grown woman here, not one of Hollywood's famous skinny starlets. Some of this stuff is a little dark for kids, but teens and tweens will be good to go with this one. It will give them something to think about, along with all the rest of us.

When I went into this movie I knew it would be good, but I had no idea it would be this amazing! It was the best movie experience I've had in a long time! Whereas I had heard about some comments made by other movie reviewers that put this picture down, I came to be blown away by the high quality of this one. Compared to "Batman Begins" I would say that this not only meets it in quality of work, but it astonishingly exceeds it. The intense action was thrilling, the pace never slowed down, and when the directors did give a breather to the viewer it only increased in intensity by use of the viewers imagination. The Juggler didn't steal the attention of the show from Batman even though it did seem to revolve around his antics of terror. Batman leaves the viewer well satisfied and wanting more of his astounding performance and character--against all odds.
This is a movie to be remembered well if not watched over again and again and again.

Very well constructed and produced film - well done actions scenes, and the director and writers have gone to great pains to make the action more believable than typical action movies. Heath Ledger did a superb job, leaving you with the feeling that a great deal of untapped talent was lost with his death. An all around terrific movie, and the fastest 2-1/2 hours I've spent in a theater.
