Overall excellent movie. The only cast member that I was not impressed with was Batman himself...he was a bit cheesy and whatever they were trying to do with his voice...totally did not work. Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne was great! Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was comically sadistic...fantastic!

The Dark Knight was a decent follow up from Batman begins. Nolan has proven over and over that he knows how to make a movie deliver a powerful punch. The performance of the Joker by Heath Ledger was magical and I truly believe he would have received similar reviews even without the tragic ending to his life. He may deserve an academy award for following up the large shoes of J. Nickolson and stepping it up a notch.

I really enjoyed this movie - my only complaint was I got a little bored about an hour into the movie, but then it took off!! I liked the special effects with Batman's lighted eyes. I thought Two-Face's special effects were amazing. Heath Ledger was terrific - his speech, mannerisms, etc. that he used as the Joker were perfectly creepy! My favorite scene is when he is dressed as the red-headed nurse. I had trouble hearing actor Gary Oldman in his scenes. I found that he mumbled his lines and his voice was much lower and indistinct than other actors in the scenes. Maggie Gyllenhaal was good, but I found uncharismatic as the leading lady.

It was a pretty decent movie. I was coherced into seeing it. I'm not a big batman fan, so I guess I'm biased. However, I was very impressed by Heath Ledger's role, he definitely stepped out of his mold and became the character.

Read the other reviews and they are spot on. Ledger's interpretation and acting will be remembered and discussed for YEARS to come. It will impair future Batman movies looking to incorporate the Joker....my opinion, noone will be able to perform at that level.
All other aspects (story line, action scenes, actors) were outstanding. I will have to say THE best movie I have ever seen. To put it another way....the theatre was packed and at the end, no one spoke as they left the theatre. Even out in the hall, my wife and I went into the bathrooms and they were full of people and both the Men's and Women's bathrooms were eerily silent as most of the people in there had come out of the Batman theatre. It was not until we reached the parking lot that I finally broke the silence in asking my wife was she thought and our thoughts were similar. The movie was very "dark"...most of it was the character that Heath brought to life....the criminally insane mind that has a total disregard for human life. It has been 24 hours since seeing the movie and I am still thinking about it.

I had been following the hype in the media and frankly was sceptical. I was totally blown away by the superior movie that is "The Dark Knight". Christian Bale gave Batman the most convincing portrayal yet. The supporting roles were cast and acted superbly. The most definitive role must go to Heath Ledger. It was eerie. It was creepy. I cannot imagine any performance that will beat this one for a long time to come. It was unsettling to watch him as he consumed this role and became the Joker. Whether his untimely death played a factor in the feelings he created onscreen, I think so, yet that performance will stand alone.
This movie is a MUST-SEE !!!

Would I reccomend this movie? You Bet I would. I have seen it 3 times already and I still enjoy every minute of it. This is how BATMAN should be. Everyone who worked on this film brought their a-game. Bale, Caine, Oldman, Echart,Freeman, and Gylnhall, were all ecellent in their role, but it is Ledger that give a performance beyond words. He is a force of nature in this film. He is the boogeyman in the closet, the monster under the bed, and nightmare in your head. It saddens me so to know that I'll never have the chance to see Ledger again in the role of the joker. I know had he lived he would have gone on to be one of our greatest actors. If you haven't seen it yet Go! I am going to see it again Sunday in IMAX.

Heath Ledger made the movie. Jack Nicholson's Joker was always my favorite character of any Batman movie. However, Heath Ledger blew him away. Had I not known that Ledger was playing the Joker, I'd had a hard time finding out. His voice, accent and look were just amazing and totally different from anything he'd ever done. I want to see it again!!

Great performances! The actors (especially Ledger) is what made the movie, for me. For someone like me who doesn't go to the movies often, due to 2 small children, and for someone like me who hasn't kept up with all the "Batman" comics or books, this movie definitely took me off guard. The tone of the movie was serious (versus your average superhero movie), and therefore the violence was a bit too much for me. Not to mention the volume!!! I would, however, recommend this movie to friends, as long as giving them the heads-up.

I thought it was a great movie filled with great action sequences. All actors were great! Heath Ledger's performance as the joker was awesome. He was creepy and at times funny. It is sad to know that he is gone. He was a promising actor. He is missed. I feel the movie keeps you watching and not wanting to get distracted as you are always wondering what will happen next. Though I did think the movie was a bit long it was still an excellent movie and in my opinion definitely one of the best Batman movies.

After watching earlier Batman movies I had a special preliminary feeling such as "Batman feeling". I was waiting to watch the newest Batman movie very much. After watching The Dark Knight cinema my feeling is totally changed. In my opinion the new part does not follow well earlier parts of Batman stories. The radiated feeling of the new movie is totally changed. In other words, this Batman is not similar as the old Batman... I was little bit disappointed when I left the cinema.
The story is not bad. Actors, actresses are good, but for example Joker played by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger are not same. Heath Ledger plays very good in this movie, but I liked Jack Nicholson as Joker character better. I had same feeling in case of the main actor too.
Technical presentation, digital effects of the movie is absolutely very good. Beautiful pictures can be seen watching movies. Motion picture is also OK for the cinema. It was a very good decision to use Chicago as Gotham City. Chicago gave a nice background to this movie!
As summarize: In my opinion the story is little bit poor, the old "Batman feeling" changed. Technical presentation, digital effects are fine. Actresses, actors playing well but I like earlier characters better. I can recommend this movie for everyone, because everyone has to watch the newest Batman movie! Why?? Watching this movie is obligatory....

I liked the Dark Knight, but I didn't love it. The acting was good, but Heath Ledger's performance wasn't exeptional. If he hadn't died, I wonder if people would feel the same way about him. I love Christian Bale and Gary Oldman and was surprised to see Anthony Michael Hall. There were some interesting scenes and plot developments. The character development was good and there was psychological depth, but this worked again the movie in a way. Because the characters seemed almost like normal people, I found it hard to believe (slight spoiler) that Harvey Dent went crazy under those circumstances, refusing pain medication and threatening children. I know the point of the Joker's actions was to create chaos and the movie did a good job of making the audience feel this chaos, but I didn't like the feeling I had when I left the movie. Instead of being excited about it and wanting to talk about it, I felt blah. The movie was just a gray blur to me and there were few scenes that stuck out for me. I definitely liked Batman Begins better.

There's no dobut that this is an excellent film. It was a bit too long and could have been cut by at least 10-20 minutes. There's way too much hype, too. Regardless, you'll enjoy the movie very much. Go see it!

I don't know about you but i feel like there hasnt been a movie with much substance in a while. I havent left the theater thinking, "wow. that was a really good movie" in atleast 6 months now. I thought the casting was perfect. Heath did such an amazing job with joker. He was so dark and psychotic- a perfect villan for batman. Christian was dark, mysterious and sexy as usual, but this time i feel like i really got to understand what batman is really about. It was great to learn the whole story behind two face. I didnt realize he was such a hero. This is one of those movies im going to buy and watch over and over.

Not to be out done by Heath Ledger's riviting preformance as "the joker", i was very impressed with the acting abilites of Gary Oldman as "Lt. Gordon" and Aaron Eckhart as "harvey dent". The trio's acting superpower put on a compeling show of lust, love, decete, fear, and anger. Although i was a bit let down with Christain Bale's performance as "Batman". I felt there was something missing as if he wasnt a complete batman. I also feel the this actually only deserves a 4.5 star, due to the lack of plot and lack of resolution, but i have seen it twice now and the second time around was just as good if not better than the first. All in all, i feel like this is a movie that i would buy, isnt that the ultimate disicion in movie watching? the purchase of the movie for your collection... so i say yes, buy it.

The characters were great, Heath Ledger did an excellent job, almost to good. Christian Bale is the best Batman ever!!!!!!!!!! His character is totally believable because he has feelings, he is not perfect and he has moral decisions to make. Michael Caine as Alfred shouldn't be overlooked, he did great!!!!! The plot and story line were very good, kept us going the whole movie!!!!!! Not for young children!!!!!

The movie was very entertaining with plenty of suspense and even though it was about two and a half hours long there was no lull in the action. Heath Ledger gave a very good performance and made the character believable. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes action movies.

Although the special effects were impressive and Keith Ledger's preformance very good, we found the movie boring. I was ready to walk out after the 1st hour, but stayed hoping it would get better. Unfortunately it never happened & we left disappointed.
