For Twilight series fans, the movie gave us more of the first movie's "campy" feel with the music, dialogue, etc. I definitely wanted to see more of Edward - but the storyline of New Moon prevents that until the end. Jacob was endearing and adorable with his short hair. The movie made you feel you wanted to see Eclipse right away! Cannot come soon enough! Bella's NEED and desperation for Edward's love was well portrayed, but even though Edward expresses his inability to live without Bella - we don't see much of his dark days without her. That would have been interesting to see!
Special effects were cool, but the movie as a whole was silly. Corny lines at times reinforced the unrealistic storyline. Some suspenseful moments, but the outcome was predictable. Reminded me of the movie Dante's Peak. Characters doing silly things during an extreme catastrophe.
Had to cringe at certain parts - even shaded my eyes at the very graphic violence at times. Despite that, the plot was very interesting. Brad Pitt's overdone Tennessee accent was actually funny at times. Tarantino's style a la Pulp Fiction is definitely present in this movie as well.
I really enjoyed this movie - my only complaint was I got a little bored about an hour into the movie, but then it took off!! I liked the special effects with Batman's lighted eyes. I thought Two-Face's special effects were amazing. Heath Ledger was terrific - his speech, mannerisms, etc. that he used as the Joker were perfectly creepy! My favorite scene is when he is dressed as the red-headed nurse. I had trouble hearing actor Gary Oldman in his scenes. I found that he mumbled his lines and his voice was much lower and indistinct than other actors in the scenes. Maggie Gyllenhaal was good, but I found uncharismatic as the leading lady.
