I'm not going to go into a long review or anything, but I will say that very rarely does a film live up to its hype. Most of the time people say, "that movie was so awesome, you have to see it, go or you will regret not seeing it on the big screen." Then you go and you don't really see what the fuss is about.
First of all, if you're a Batman fan you'll be thrilled, but even if you don't really care, you'll be thrilled. If you view it as an action or crime film it is the top of the genre in quality. One thing is for sure, you won't know what's going to happen next. Don't read spoilers or let people tell you too much about it. The acting is very strong and by far it is the strongest, darkest, and most serious of all the Batman movies. You'll realize that during the opening scene. The movie starts out 90 MPH. Christopher Nolan brought Batman back to the way it should be after the cheesy Batman Forever and terrible Batman & Robin.
The new Batman series has set a new standard in comic book hero movies. Not only that but it is the best film of 2008 so far and it will stay in the top five. Movies like this don't come along often and it has created a level of excitement not seen in quite a while. Just go to a theatre and stand in line if you don't believe it. A lot of kids were in the theatre I went to which surprised me because the film was rated PG-13 but it was the edgiest PG-13 I've ever seen and I'm almost certain a couple things were trimmed back to avoid an R. I wonder if they will release a Director's Cut. Either way, the film was amazing, go see it if you get the chance.

Overall the movie was awesome!!
My only gripe was with Batman's "Clint Eastwood smokers dry throat" voice. It was overkill.

I'm not one who gets overly excited about movies, and this one was no exception. It looked good and I wanted to see it, but I couldn't see myself camping out for tickets or anything. But I gotta tell you, this movie blew me away! The actions sequences and overall story are amazing. Christian Bale gives an awesome preformance as Bruce Wayne/Batman which of course was expecting after seeing Batman Begins, but the shocker was the oscar-worthy preformace by the late Heath Ledger! I knew this guy could act, but I'm old school and was convinced that no one could beat Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Ledger's preformance proved me wrong from the first scene! He played the character so well, that at times, it was hard to remember that the Joker was a fictional character and that it was an actor behind the cracked, distressed make-up! This movie is long, but don't let that discourage you! It keeps you interested the entire time and at the edge of your seat most of it! Two thumbs up, five stars, how ever you want to say it, this is a must see!

The Dark Knight, the latest from Christopher Nolan in the august Batman lineage, takes the crown from all its predecessors. Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne, flamboyant billionaire and Batman, the menace to Gotham City criminals. The cinematography and intent to keep the films grounded in reality on the part of Nolan makes for a very evocative film. I was surprised at the PG-13 rating, but the inferred violence does make it more personal as it occurs in your head, not graphically on the screen. As many will attest, Heath Ledger will no doubt be nominated for an Oscar; which he will deserve and yet will likely win based on sympathy for his death rather than the disturbing and deeply moving performance he gives to this film. The Joker and Two Face caused many to fear the gritty realism would be lost as it would be hard keep the camp out. However on the contrary, Ledger and Eckhart are gruesome, mentally disturbed, and anything but amusing. The scene with the explosion of Gotham General Hospital did come across as highly comical, because of the absurdity of the unrelenting and yet cartoon-like reactions of the cross-dressing Ledger. Overall, this film tops even the Keaton Batman, long held as the pinnacle of current incarnations of the Caped Crusader. I might suggest strongly considering the PG-13 rating for younger children as the actions which are inferred are extremely violent and harrowing. There are more true life depictions of various insanities than most films which are actually devoted to such.

This movie was everything every reviewer said it would be, and better! You start right in on the action, there's no fussing about the Joker's backstory or his motives, and from then on, you are in until the credits start rolling. The director and his actors definitely took what the momentum they created from Batman Begins, and turned it up another level. Casting was dead on for each role, and I'd have to say that this is a movie I would see several times and still not be able to pick up every little detail.

I played a high ranking police office in The Dark Knight and was pleased that I got to see myself in the movie last night. Christopher Nolan truly outdid himself with TDK. Expect stellar performances from the big name actors and even the extras.. ;) Watching Heath as the Joker made me uneasy as he brought out the sadistic side of the villain. Christian Bale brought out the darker side of Batman while maintain his facade as a billionaire playboy. Without disclosing too much information, be prepared for layers of sub-plots that create several climaxes.
As Chicago resident, it was also fun watching the city get turned into "Gotham" too.
The best movie of the summer!

Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker. It's so sad that he is no longer with us - he was a great actor.
Love Christian Bale as the Batman. This movie has a great story line and great character development and great action scenes. Definitely "darK'....and I'm the kind of person who prefers comedies or chick flicks....but I thought it was a very interesting and engrossing movie. I liked it a lot.

Heath Ledger's performance, while disturbing, was absolutely phenomenal and Christian Bale delivered another outstanding portrayal of Batman. If you haven't seen it yet, do it (without the kids)!! I rarely see movies at the theatre twice but I will be seeing this movie again.

One of my top 10 best films of all time!. This films has nonstop action and excellent visual/special effects, not to mention exceptional acting by Heath Ledger and Christian Bale. In fact, I think Heath Ledger nailed the Joker's sick, twisted persona and should be nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor! I plan to see this movie again soon!!!

This was a great movie. The cast was amazing though it is plain to see that the show was stolen by Heath Ledger. To me this is the way that the Joker was meant to be seen. Nonstop action that is sure to keep attention. Though the movie is 2 and a half hours it really does not feel like it. It is a great movie. A must see. Worth every penny.

Excellent movie! Heath Ledger's turn as the Joker is legendary! You can't recognize the actor in this role and he really showed his range as an actor. Bring on the acting nominations!! I believe that there is no role that Christian Bale can't nail and I think he shines as the Dark Knight! I enjoyed this movie more than the first, it was way more dark. One thing I love about Chris Nolan's work is his "organic-ness". Nothing looks too forced even when Heath Ledger is in a nurses uniform setting explosions off, it looks...natural! Some of the scenes in this movie literally took my breath away. Another thing I enjoy about this movie is the caliber of the supporting cast! Great actors supporting actors who are on their way to being Oscar winners of the future. Bale should have been at least nominated already with turns in The Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma and Rescue Dawn.
Great movie! Look forward to the next. Bravo to Christopher Nolan for making a really cool movie. Bravo to the cast for delivering great/legendary performances! I will end it with a prediction....Heath Ledger will get at least recognized if not rewarded for a performance of a lifetime, literally!

This movie is great, and a fantastic successor to the Batman movie franchise. With 2 hours and 30 minutes worth of action it is definately a good view albeit long. My only gripe is Batman's voice, I mean come on... really??? But a great movie overall and worth every penny.

Well Heath Ledger lived up and maybe surpassed all of the hype. The Joker was new and even more dark, demented, and sinister the Joker that was played by Jack Nicholson. Very entertaining. Nolan and Bale kept Batman human rather than unbelievable and all CGI which I enjoyed. I will see it again at least once in the theater but probably several times. I can’t wait for the third installment of the series.

Maybe once every two years a film comes along that I'd actually want to go right back and see it again. "Dark Knight" falls into this exclusive category. I found myself gripping the arms of my seat almost throughout. Heath Ledger completely disappears into his role as the Joker, literally making all previous incarnations look clownish. The depth with which this summer blockbuster also explores the nature of society and morality is refreshingly impressive. Since "Drak Knight" in IMAX is sold out this weekend, I'll probably go see it in IMAX next weekend. This was simply A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

Let me first say that I am not a fan of most comic book movies. This includes any and all Spiderman Movies. So, when my wife asked me to go see this, I reluctantly agreed. Throughout the movie I was waiting for it to start sucking.....well I was dissappointed. This has to have been the greatest movie of the year and one of the best movies I have ever seen. There is a little something from almost every genre in this film. I would suggest everyone go see this ( unless you are afraid of clowns) Trust me when I say you will not feel like your wasting your money. You may even want to pay alittle bit more
