It is so cliché to say, "You will laugh. You will cry." But you will...especially if you have a son who is going to college soon and especially if that son had a particularly tight bond with his toys and the first two Stories. My college-bound boy and I saw Toy Story 3 last night and we both absolutely loved it. I even saw HIM get a little misty-eyed from time to time. Thank you Disney Pixar for another great film! Trust me, you will not be disappointed spending the time money to see this treasure.
While it appeared difficult for the screenwriter to fit every juicy detail from the book into the movie, the overall feeling was the same: sweet, innocent, and passionate. I loved the comedic moments and the supporting cast, while under-utilized (i.e. it would have been great to have Alice's role expanded) was terrific. I definitely recommend reading the book first so you can cash in on all of the inside jokes. Still, this under-budgeted film will prove to be a great delight to everyone who sees it. Enjoy.
Heath Ledger's performance, while disturbing, was absolutely phenomenal and Christian Bale delivered another outstanding portrayal of Batman. If you haven't seen it yet, do it (without the kids)!! I rarely see movies at the theatre twice but I will be seeing this movie again.
