The 1989 Batman starring Keaton and Nicholson was an amazing movie, you just couldn't beat Jack's performance as The Joker. When I first heard they cast Heath Ledger as the actor set up to take on the sky-high standard Nicholson left behind, I thought it was a joke! Heath Ledger-really?! I laughed it off until I saw this movie. I sat in the audience and kept saying, "wow." Ledger blew this performance out of the water, leaving skeptics like me with a whole foot in my mouth.(ouch) You have to compare Nicholson to Ledger, but keeping in mind they both tell a different story of the Joker. Nicholson gave the character charisma, insanity, and an experienced hand that left us spooked and left the bar high. Ledger presented a more psychotic, youthful, terrifyingly insane character who is the most dangerous criminal: one who kills for the thrill, with no goals or itinerary in mind. Of course, with a sense of humor. Perfect performance by Ledger. Christian Bale always a superb performance, he does Batman justice (since personally, the original Batman is Keaton) and then some. He gives the performance the dark persona, charm,wisdom, humor, and sexiness it calls for. And may I add- Gary Oldman?! WOW. He IS Commissioner Gordon! Just like Michael Gough is always going to be Alfred, Oldman was definitely a fan-favorite. (In every showing, the theater starts screaming and clapping and going bananas when he re-appears, its great!)The movie was absolutely amazing, full of every bit of suspense actions and twists that movie-goers love. Plus the action scenes were off the wall! ;) By far some of the best action sequences ever concocted and carried out! (you aren't ready for them, trust me)I can't even begin to describe how amazinly well put-together this film is. A+ for the film overall, A+for every single actor, A+to the director, A+to the entire film crew, it now joins the ranks of my favorite movies.

This is a fast paced, edge-of-your-seat, fun movie of the summer. I truly enjoyed it and even though it is a 2 and a half hour movie, it felt like it went by so fast! Heath Ledger's portrayal of Joker is so intense. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a nomination for this. Love it!!!

Gripping movie, the 2 hour plus time flew by so quickly. A little more violence than I prefer, but oh so mesmerizing. Heath Ledger was the perfect Joker & hopefully will be recognized for an Oscar. Is a movie I would like to see again and again.

Bale and Ledger are amazing in this movie. The Joker's psychotic nature is scary yet is funny in parts. Much better than Nicholson's version of Joker, although he was great also. Non stop action with many hints as to what the next one will bring..

Sometimes sad watching Joker scenes knowing that Heath Ledger is gone, but he did a fantastic job. He carried the movie. Sort of hated Batman's voice. A packed theater so get there early! Worth it.

The Dark Knight was worth waiting in three different lines for more than 1 hour to see. The wole story was great as were the effects. Though it was a sadening effect when you see the amazing job Heathe Leger does knowing he can never play the joke or any other part again. I have a big habbit of falling alseep during long movies even if i like them but this whole movie i was wide awake. I would recommend this movie to anyone to go see!

I had read so many positive reviews about The Dark Knight, I was concerned that the movie was being overhyped and didn't get my hopes up.
The movie lives up to all of the glowing reviews. Not only was this an excellent depiction of the Batman universe, the acting was superb. I was concerned that the reviews about Heath Ledger were overblown because of his death, but they were not at all. Heath Ledger as the Joker was incredible.

From my point of view, what makes this movie great is the deep issues it deals with. The first and foremost issue for me was the connection between doing what's right and its effect on hope. We see the effect loss of hope has on people. The dialogue between joker and batman about playing by the rules is so relevant to law enforcement! Another easily missed theme was the connection between our choices and consequences for the chooser and others. On top of this heavy issues substrate lay outstanding acting, chair-gripping tension, breathtaking action and some cool stand-up-and-cheer heroics. And I must admit, having never been a big Ledger fan, his performance is oscar-worthy.

The Dark Knight is such an incredible movie on so many levels. Heath Ledger has done an outstanding job portraying the psychopath joker. Christian Bale has also done an amazing job as the Batman and has helped the character become so much deeper than just a comic book hero. The one downside to the movie is that it's 2.5 hours, but it goes by pretty fast.

I've always been a fan of the Batman franchise, and for the first time I have been fully satisfied. Not that Batman Begins was a bad film to say the least, but this one surpassed all of my expectations. The action was top notch, the story was complex but easy to follow, and every performance was fantastic. However the performance that stands out the most is the one given by Mr. Ledger. His take on the The Joker was creepy, funny, and entrancing. At one point during the movie I was looking Heath Ledger in The Joker and I couldn't find him. He made a full transformation in that role. If he doesn't get an Oscar win, let alone a nomination, the whole system should be shut down!

This movie was edge of your seat from the beginning! It was intense, and I was exhausted after watching it. Ledger was amazing, and very disturbing... His performance was spot on. Bale was great as well, and the movie was seamless overall. It definitely lived up to all the hype.

The Dark Knight is about as perfect a crime drama as there has been in years. The script is long, yet tight. The dialog is well-written and equally well delivered. Each of the principle cast members delivery outstanding performances.
This movie is less about Batman and more about the triumph of basic human decency over chaos. It is about the needs of the many, the citizens of Gotham, outweighing the needs of the few or the one, Batman.
So much has already been said about Heath Ledger's Joker that I will not write any more than to say, he is as perfect a screen villain as Anton Chigurh was in No Country for Old Men.
The action sequences were beautifully shot, but not stand alone or as payoffs to uninteresting setup scenes. There were more a result of the dialog or scenes in between and made perfect sense. This movie is less about the action and gadgets, though there are here aplenty. It is more about the interaction of the characters as they all seek to deal with the events unfolding around them.
I do not write movie reviews. Obviously. The Dark Knight is such a spectacular film that I had to write something.
Three words, "Go. See. It."

Ledger's performance was stunning. Daniel Day Lewis stunning. He will be missed. Overall, the film was fantastic. Beautiful look and feel, superb acting by Ledger, Freeman, and Michael Caine, and an anything but boring storyline. For 2.5 hrs, it sure didn't feel like it. Still, there were some soft spots. Maggie was miscast, in my opinion... didn't care for her character. Christian Bale's raspy Batman voice was irritating and unbelievable... came off as trying-too-hard. Likewise, the performance of some of the minor-roll characters was poor. Nevertheless, an overall excellent movie. Highly recommend.
