TDKR is a fitting end to Christopher Nolan's and Christian Bale's Batman trilogy. It is not as gripping as The Dark Knight nor as tight a story; but what movie can ever top that? It is impossible.
If you are a fan of these Batman movies, this one will not disappoint. If you are comic book purist who can still enjoy a great movie, you will like this.
The Dark Knight is about as perfect a crime drama as there has been in years. The script is long, yet tight. The dialog is well-written and equally well delivered. Each of the principle cast members delivery outstanding performances. This movie is less about Batman and more about the triumph of basic human decency over chaos. It is about the needs of the many, the citizens of Gotham, outweighing the needs of the few or the one, Batman. So much has already been said about Heath Ledger's Joker that I will not write any more than to say, he is as perfect a screen villain as Anton Chigurh was in No Country for Old Men. The action sequences were beautifully shot, but not stand alone or as payoffs to uninteresting setup scenes. There were more a result of the dialog or scenes in between and made perfect sense. This movie is less about the action and gadgets, though there are here aplenty. It is more about the interaction of the characters as they all seek to deal with the events unfolding around them. I do not write movie reviews. Obviously. The Dark Knight is such a spectacular film that I had to write something. Three words, "Go. See. It."
