This movie surpassed any expectations that I had by far. I personally never bought into the whole comic book world or anything pertaining to that nature, but I have a feeling that if I did there would be no possible way that I could have been disappointed. This movie was simply incredible. I am usually very critical of a lot of movies today simply because they give away anything to look forward to in the previews, this was not the case. I would absolutely recommend this movie for anyone from 8 to 80.

The costumes and makeup are exceptional. The perfromances of all of the actors was spot on. Yes, Heath Ledger did a wonderful job, but you can't look past the others as well, like Gary Oldman. I would see this movie over and over again. When it comes out on video, I will by it. A keeper.

This is what Batman is all about. Dark, scary, not afraid to take the fall. This is what the Joker is all about: Mean, evil, and absolutely twisted and crazy. Great story, good music, wonderful acting and awesome special effects. This is a win-win. Who's better Nicholson or Ledger? They are equally talented. You can't compare the two Jokers. Nicholson's Joker was cartoonish, while Ledger's Joker is very adult, scary and cruel. It would be like comparing an apple to an orange. Now that they have it right, now they must hire Adam West to play the older out-of-retirement Batman in an R-Rated movie adaption of the adult graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns". I'm serious. Very serious.

As I stated. This movie was worth the wait. I am usually not surprised by movies, but man did this one keep you guessing as to what was going to happen next. Definitely not boring, action packed, Heath Ledger was awesome.

After seeing "Batman Begins" in 2005, I knew any follow up would be good as long as Nolan and Bale were a part of it, but I had no idea that it could be this good. Very rarely are sequels anywhere near as good as the original, but "The Dark Knight" is better than "Batman Begins", and much better than any other Batman movie that has ever been made. It's dark, it's violent, it's everything a Batman movie should be. Even if you aren't a Batman fan, there is a good chance that you will like "The Dark Knight", because it's more of a 'crime drama' than anything else, it just happens to feature characters from the Batman universe.

My son wanted to go see the movie for his birthday. I was not looking forward to sitting in the movie theater for 2 and half hours watching a batman movie. I was very shoked at how good this movie was. Lots of action and great effects. The best Joker ever. I don't think they will be able to use the character again.

It is very violent for children under 13. As a mother, I would not recommend taking a youngster, no matter how much they beg. Having said that, it was AWESOME, FABULOUS and INCREDIBLE. I loved it!

No Spoilers Here - Like Batman Begins, this isn't your typical "Super Hero" movie. Chris Nolan forgoes the formulaic Good Guy/Bad Guy ultimate showdown plot and delivers an amazing crime drama along the lines of Heat, except with costumes and gadgets. The plot doesn't rely on special effects and gratuitous violence to tell the story, although there's plenty of both. Everything you've heard about Ledger's Joker is true and then some. If Hopkins can get a Grammy for Silence of the Lambs, then Ledger is a shoe-in for Dark Knight. Absolutely amazing movie.

Director Chris Nolan has done an outstanding job of weaving together a tale that examines different aspects of the human psyche. The way he portrays ordinary citizens faced with chaos from the Joker is magnificent! The performances of Ledger, Bale and Eckhart are memorable. The action sequences are balanced with superb acting which gives the film all you need to make it one for the history books.

As the mother of 2 girls who have swooned over Heath Ledger for years... (they are both too old now to admit it) I must admit I too wanted to see this young man in his last acting role. He did an awesome job as the Joker. The entire movie was gripping from the beginning to the end! And it seemed like the 2 1/2 hours just flew by. I recommend it for teens and up. Not for the young ones.

The Darkest Batman yet. The Joker was so disturbing, so evil... I am still haunted by the superb acting of Heath Ledger. Not a movie for young kids. 100% action from start to finish. By far the best Batman yet! It remided me of the comic books from the 60's. 5 Stars!!!

Darkest and best Batman yet. I love Jack Nicolson, but Ledger is the real thing. His performance is incredible. Unfortunately for Christian Bale, who is an excellent Batman, Ledger steals the show. See it for the story, see it for the action, but most of all see it for the Joker!!!

This film is simply awe-inspiring. Everything that was great about _Batman Begins_ is at least 10 times better in this movie, from Lieutenant (now Commissioner) Gordon's believability to Bruce Wayne to the new Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhall replaces Katie Holmes) and even some of Batman's new gadgets like the Batpod are just fun to watch and bring a great sense of nostalgia to the screen for anybody like myself who grew up watching Batman and playing with the action figures (and, though I hate to admit it, even wearing the Batman boxer shorts). Of course, what would a Batman film be without great villains, and this is where _The Dark Knight_ truly excels. Not only is Heath Ledger's Joker impersonation one of the best and most believable performances I have ever seen from any actor, but Echart's Two-Face persona was almost equally as impressive. I could go on and on about how great this movie is, such as when ______ happens and how shocking it is to see _____ die but I wouldn't want to ruin the experience for anybody who has yet to witness the masterpiece that is Chris Nolan's _The Dark Knight_. Plain and simple, GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW, you'll thank me later!!!!!

It was good action, good plot, and good acting by all the cast.

I really loved all the action. Great story line. My only bad comment...its a little to long! I believe I thought to myself a couple times geez does this movie ever end...and I thought OK now it's gonna end...and it didnt...but other then the longness of the movie it was GREAT! Oh and they kinda tried to fit a little to much into the end of the movie but totally worth it!

Heath Ledger does not steal the show, but only because he has competition. He outdoes Jack Nicholson's Joker.
"This city deserves a better class of criminals . . ." Should replace "Where does he get those toys?"
Michael Caine is his usual droll self.
The action is there for the guys. Is the romance there? (I am not sure, I saw it with my sons. But enough for us.)
I've been waiting for this since Batman Begins. And I was not disappointed.
Lots of action. Lots of laughs. More if you pay attention to the dialog. Particularly between Bruce Wayne and Alfred.
How well defined are the characters? How believable is the character development? I am easy to satisfy. I was. You will have to make up your mind for yourself.

I'm not a big comic book fan nor am I a fan of Heath Ledger. (To be honest I couldn't even tell you another movie he's been in.) So I went into the movie thinking that this was going to be a medicore movie with a lot of hype.
I'm happy to say that I have been pleasantly surprised. Mr. Ledger's performance was absolutely outstanding. He made me laugh, he creeped me out, and he made me want to yell at the screen "STOP THAT!" (Watch his mouth :P) His performance drew me in and lost me in the movie.
Mr. Bale seamlessly went from Batman to Bruce and back again. He embodied the inner struggle felt between the two characters. He made me believe and sympathize.
Maggie Gyllenhaal fell a bit flat in my opinion. She did an average performance in an above average film.
Aaron Eckhart was a great Harvey Dent. He didn't get a lot of time to develop the Two Face character though. I hope its more "fleshed out" in the next Batman movie. He needs to watch Mr. Ledger's performance over and over and take some notes.
The psychological aspect of the movie was amazing. The inner struggles and seeing true evil and fighting the true evil inside all of us. It made the movie so much more than "good guy kills the bad guy".
All in all, the movie was worth every dime I paid and then some. These are the type of movies that I will gladly pay for and come back for more.
