This is a fun movie. Christian Bale broods, Heath Ledger is insane, Maggie Gyllenhaal has virtue. There are complex toys, Michael Caine as the butler, the usual Batman things. Heath was indeed a wonderful joker, although I don't think he would be getting quite so much press if he weren't dead.
That said, it kind of hits you over the head. HERO AS VILLAIN. VILLAIN NEEDS HERO. TRUE SACRIFICE IS SACRIFICING BEING SEEN AS A HERO. COMMON PEOPLE ARE TRULY GOOD DEEP DOWN INSIDE. Etc. It's hardly subtle. The characters aren't very subtle either- they all represent something that can be summed up in one or two words, although Heath Ledger & MIchael Caine bring a spark to their roles. Don't get me wrong- it was fun to watch it, and I would recommend it, but don't expect a cinematic masterpiece.

The Dark Knight was a great movie. Very entertaining and such an action packed movie from beginning to end!! Everyone played such wonderful characters and I loved Heath Ledger as The Joker (SO DARK).

The Dark Knight is the best 'superhero movie' that I have ever seen. Heath Ledger, who will be sorely missed, played the most evil, amazing, and enjoyable villain of any that have been put on the screen.

This movie was the finest example of what a comic adaptation should be. They nailed the jokers character right on the head, and heath ledger was the best joker there could ever be. The story was great , the actors were perfect, depicted everything you would get out of reading the batman comics and leaves me wanting more and hoping for more. If you get a chance, go see this movie. Even if you havn't seen the first movie, or are a comic book fan, this is a great movie regardless,you can't go wrong.

There is a lot to celebrate with this movie. I enjoyed the action scenes and the techno/fantasy stuff; it was really fun. The Joker was portrayed in a convincing style and clearly expressed chaos in every scene. Michael Cane’s character does a fine job of bringing stability and a tiny bit of realism to the story line. The movie is about 20 minutes longer than necessary and it gasps for enthusiasm because of it.

Although the acting was phenomenal and the way it was filmed really set the mood and tone, I thought that the editing of this movie was lousy. It did not flow, I had no clue what was going on, and half way through the movie...the movie should have been over. But then new characters were introduced and an entire new movie began. I would have liked to see more development of the characters since they were awesome, but it just fell short to me with too much action and not enough dialogue. There should be a balance of the two, and there wasnt. This movie was supposed to contribute to giving credibility to the genre, but in a way it kind of didnt.

My husband and I LOVED this movie. This is the kind of movie the audience claps at the end, the kind of movie you linger in your seat during the credits to see if there's an additional scene. We can't wait to see it again. You can use every positive adjective you know to describe Health Ledger's performance as the joker and you wouldn't be overselling it. I actually believed after 2 hours he WAS the joker until I remembered this is a character from a comic book. I wouldn't bring children under 13 because the movie is very dark and could be scary for younger kids. Don't expect to see the previous franchise Batman films. This is a masterpiece.

Much more of a reality based premise than the cartoonish efforts of pre "Batman Begins" Batmans. Heath Ledger is great as the Joker and the 2.5 hr length will fly by. You will not be bored.

Good movie, it may be a little hard to follow all of the story line especially for the younger viewers. The action sequences keep the movie moving along but in reality the 150 minutes is a bit long and probabyly not necessary for telling the story. Despite this the Batman franchise has another hit on their hands thanks to strong performances by the principal actors and hats off to Mr. Ledger for a Joker we will never forget. We will miss you.

This was the first superhero movie that i feel was not corny and somewhat satirical, intentionally or otherwise. I was really impressed with the fact that director Chris Nolan had a deep story to tell, and told it very well. This was also the first good Heath Ledger film since The Patriot. The Joker was hilarious and terrifying at the same time. I absolutely hate superhero movies but Dark Knight is on my shortlist of best all-time movies.
