Easily this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It absolutely blows the pre-Nolan Batman movies out of the water. Even disregarding the publicity brought by Heath Ledger's unfortunate death, this movie should be up for multiple Oscar rewards.

It was well worth the wait., long enough movie-not dragged out. One of Heath's best movies! He was amazing if not even better than Jack Nicholson. Go see it if you havent already! I'll probably see it 5 more times before it leaves theatres.

Lots of action and special effects. BUT the main draw is Heath Ledger's Joker...totally evil, insane and scary. This was one, great action hero movie! My only criticism is that it seemed a little long, I was worn out about 2/3 of the way through the movie and then they started up several whole new stories...

This movie should have been called 'Joker Begins.' It is literally the Joker's show and it is such a tragic shame to lose such a rivetting actor in his artistic prime. Heath's performance is terrifyingly kinetic. Each twitch and swallow captivates and builds a truely manic monster. Christopher Nolan moves Gotham from the dark world of 'Batman Begins' to an even more lost Gotham driven by apathy and anarchy. Christian Bale delivers another solid performance, as do the other veteran actors. The addition of Maggie Gyllenhal is far less annoying than Katie Holmes, and Aaron Eckhart is perfectly adequate as Harvey Dent. Though the villain Two-face pales to Ledger's joker. But who am I kidding, each scene without the Joker lacks that something special.

Yes, it's grossed $155MM in its first weekend. And it's a "summer blockbuster".
It's also a pretty damn good movie.
#2 in the "vaguely feasable" = "more credible" series, you get a stunning Ledger as Joker. I think he's as good as everyone says. Bale is good, too as is Eckhart and Maggie G. And Oldman. But the director - Nolan - is the man.
It's two and a half hours long and it feels like it's an hour. Very hard to truly blend storytelling into an action flick, but I feel he does.
Sure, you can pick holes in this.
But you be a dummy not to see this movie.

A lot has been written about this movie regarding it's cast and especially the loss of Heath Ledger.The cast is universally excellent and the movie really hits home when it begins illustrating the basic conflict between the Batman and the Joker--one is trying to bring order and the other lives for chaos.
It also ends on a note that is very familiar if you are somewhat knowledgeable about Batman lore. {Not really a spoiler but...Batman cannot exist within the established system of laws. He is and must remain the outsider.}
If I have a criticism about this movie (and I am a very long time fan of Batman & love Chris Nolan and Christian Bales' work) it is one that might seem minor to other viewers, BUT I hate the continual usage of the Rottweiler breed as the "bad, vicious" dog. So many children will see this movie and will continue to associate that image with those dogs.Perhaps cinematically this choice makes sense but I feel I need to point out the impact this has, even subconsciously, on the viewer during those scenes. I still gave the movie 5 stars because IT IS overall an excellent movie with stunning and edgy performances by both major leads and all the supporting cast. My dearest wish is another such Batman movie in the future. Just no dogs. There are enough "bad" people in the Bat-verse to go around..

This movie was an astounding piece of action, thriller, and talented acting. I love Christian Bales' performance as Batman. I think he's the best Batman yet. Heath Ledger's final acting performance has a great mixture of madness and skill attached to the menacing Joker. He had me grasping my husband's arm and hiding my eyes at some of the stunts and scences. It's a great movie!

This is the darkest and the most dramatic of all the Batman movies and I have seen them all. Heath Ledger as the Joker makes Jack Nicholson look like the picture of Mental health. This is one of those movies you may have to watch two or three times to really get it.

Christopher Nolan is amazing. He took what would be another comic movie and turned it into a question. A question about who we are as people and the consequences of our choices.
It's action packed from the beginning to the end. I never imagined the incredible twist at the end.
The performances are unbelievable. Christian Bale is probably one of the most under rated actors in the business. He brings a responsibility to Batman that most who have played him do not. The only weakness in his performance I thought was his voice as Batman. It sounded like he was trying.
Heath Ledger was absolutely stellar. A role of lifetime and I cannot imagine some one else attempting to play the Joker after Ledger's performance. I would be intimidated. He brings a comedy as well as horror to the Joker and makes us examine who we really are as people. Such a loss.
All in all amazing performances, coupled with brilliant directing, and major action. Definitely lives up to the hype and worth your 11 bucks.
