This movie will go down as one of my favorites of all time. I was so eager to see this movie.. I bought my tickets as soon as i could find them and waited for five hours to be one of many to see the first viewing.
As I walked out of the movie theater I was not disappointed at all. This is the way Batman should be done. Action packed, non-stop thrill and adventure, emotion, and jaw dropping, heart pounding events.
Christian Bale plays Batman like no other and truely becomes the chartacter so many have read about in comics across the world. Bale is by far the greatest Batman to grace the screen by far.
Heath Ledger also did an amazing job. The character of the Joker was a complete difference than Jack's version alomst twenty years ago. This dark and twisted character is what sold the move to me. I was thinking that it could not live up to the comics and in return it exceeded my expectations. Ledger keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time, and keeps you asking for more. Along with Aaron Eckhart and his character of Harvy Dent/ Two-Face. Aaron did a brillant job of playing this twisted character that helps lead to Gotham's distruction.
This movie was brillanty casted, and I could not think of a more satisfying cast at all. This movie was well written and directed and is the summer's best movie by far.
I have seen the movie three different times all ready with my friends and each time was still amanzing, and I was not bored at all.
I recomend this AMAZING movie who is looking for and action packed, romantic, on the edge of your seat movie. This is the best by far

A lot of great actions and stunts. Some parts were a little slow in my opinion but that could just be because I wasn't too into the other batman movies. However, I think if you DO love the other Batmans, then this would be a great film. My honest opinion was that Ledger stole the show. He is the best Joker to date, HANDS DOWN! It's such a shame that he'll no longer be able to continue this role or any other for that matter. He was a wonderful actor and he would've stolen the show even if he was still alive. I can't say it enough. HE was the most entertaining character in the entire movie.

This film is far different from previous Batman films, let alone the old television series. It is not suitable for younger children or for those susceptible to nightmares! Heath Ledger was amazing in his portrayal of sociopathy, and had he lived he could have proudly worn the crown now on the head of Jack Nicholson. Bale was a bit too brooding but his persona changes were seamless. Sir Michael, of course, is always brilliant, and this case was no exception. His was the humour which turned this from a horror film to an intelligent suspense. The true genius was the makeup artist, rarely does one have to close one's eyes to keep from losing one's popcorn. Eckhart started off seeming to be the vain politician, but his character unpeeled neatly like a plump onion. Watch out for his star to rise like a meteor on steroids.
Just don't take the kids, unless you want them sharing your bed for a couple of months afterwards!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

FINALLY they're getting it right. Hollywood needs to learn from Jon Favreau and Christopher Nolan; you can't just make ANY comic book movie, you have to have a director who loves it. I loved Batman Begins; I love Dark Knight. It's finally Batman from the comics, not the 70s TV show.

This movie is hot and dark. Christian Bale is awesome and so is Heath Ledger. It is a very dark movie where violence is just for the fun of it and the Joker makes sure we all know that. All the actors do a great job except Maggie Gyllenhall. It is a long movie with many events taking place. It will keep you very interested and you might even want to see it several times so you can take it all in. There is never a dull moment and a surprise at every turn. I hightly recommend this movie.

Batman again? I know that people will never grow tired of the masked crusader fighting evil in the shadows. Being a bit leary of yet another remake that wouldn't live up to it's 90's predecesors. I had been forewarned of it's unappropriate content for children. So expecting a much more violent and gory version I got one that played on the typical edge of comic book violence. In translation the kids (and kids at heart) found it to be the most entertaining. Although the acting and characters were phenominal I found it to be a tad lengthy. An Oscar winning cast truly living up to its legend.

Its hard to express the sheer power of every single performance and production aspect of this film. All i can say is that if you do not see this film on the big screen, you are missing out - worth every cent and every minute. Comic fans, movie fans, action fans, 'dark' fans - you will all be satisfied. A lot of fans did not get the dynamic between the joker and batman, there was some laughing at parts that were truly disturbing on a psychological level... think before you laugh at a lot of his comments. Heath deserves an award for this performance - its the most believable of all the villains yet.

After seeing the first Batman Movie in this new Saga, batman begins, I could tell that it was going to go above and beyond any expectations we had for this superhero. The Dark Knight fulfills these expectations by giving us the superhero story and feeling we don't usually receive. A superhero who has such a dark and sometimes villainous plot, as well as kicking evil in the a** at the same time. Heath Ledger destroyed Jack Nicholson in his persona as the Joker. It was a perfect casting and he made the role so believable. I loved this movie and would recommend it to anyone who asked.

Wow, I thought The Dark Knight would be another sick violent mediocre summer flick, boy was I wrong.
What a fantastic film. I think even for children that are mature enough to handle some "adult themes" this movie would be acceptable. It's a thoughtful, intelligent and captivating movie that's beautifully shot. Heath Ledger was incredible.

No one needs to hear another rave about Ledger's performance as the Joker. Needless to say, it deserves all the accolades received. The plot line was remarkably coherent for this genre. Two complaints are the length and some of the writing. Some of the lines are so corny as to make you cringe. This can work in Batman movies that are played for camp. But this movie is played for darkness, which it achieves in spades. And that makes the cliches seem out of place.
They certainly could have taken 20 minutes out with no problem. Moreover, in my theater at least they showed twice as many trailers before the film (likely because they had such a large audience) as usual, which added to seating discomfort.
Go see it. But don't bring the kids.

I will say that I do have to agree with one of the reviewers here: the PG-13 Rating is a little on the light side as the movie has A TON of people getting killed, and in some violent ways, so parents be wary of taking your little ones to see this or you may find yourself explaining things you may not want to address at that time. Other than this, I loved this movie. Ever since the first Batman movie came out with Jack and Micheal Keaton, we have been starved for real Joker and Batman characters (sorry Val, you just didn't cut it as Bruce Wayne). What we have here is not only one of the BEST performaces of the Joker (Heath Ledger should win an oscar for his role HANDS DOWN), but Christian Bale continues to shine as the darker version of the Batman. Why do I say Mr. Ledger deserves an Oscar you say? Some will say that it would be his accidental death that will net him additional attention and possibly out shine his performance, well, let me put that nasty (and totally unfair) rumor to rest. Even IF he didn't pass away, his masterful portrail of the Joker should still win an Oscar just because of how wonderful it is. Not only does he bring humor, crazy and charm to the Joker, but this is what sets him apart from even Jack's stab at the same character: Ledger brings the scary intelligence to the Joker role. In layman's terms: while the Joker IS crazy (I don't think that's debatable), it doesn't detract from the fact that he is ALWAYS two and a half steps ahead of the cops, but only one half step ahead of Batman. As you watch the movie unfold little by little, you will find yourself saying, "How did he (the Joker) think of that!?" I know I felt that way several times throughout the film. You will never know what's going through his mind until its too late (one scene involing a bank is UNREAL). To avoid going into much detail, the usual list of characters shines through, as everyone plays their parts well. I honestly don't have any complaints about the movie. Yes, it is two and a half hours long, but trust me, you won't notice, unless you can't sit still for long periods. It has to be this long to flesh out all of the subplots, so there will be no "slow points" or spots where there is nothing going on. Also be on the lookout for Mr Nolan's character: it should be interesting to see how his character is ised in future films. Can't miss with this movie!

Dark Knight is one of the BEST Batman movies yet! (and this coming from a MARVEL comic fan) Heath Ledger (RIP) preformed as the best Joker that I have ever seen, yes, even better than Jack! This movie was an "on the edge of your seat, nearly falling to the floor" movie from start to finish. It's the BEST thing that DC has done in YEARS (please keep in mind, I'm NOT a huge DC fan... I prefer MARVEL comics :P)
I would recommend this film to EVERYONE... And I plan on seeing it again!

I really enjoyed the movie. It was much better than I thought it would be. The storyline was somewhat believeable; there was just enough action and the acting was excellent! This movie is quite frankly one of the best I have seen this year. The actors are superb and truly make the movie live up to high expectations. With all the action and special effects, there is also a unique chemistry between each of the characters.
The "deep" aspect of this movie is that you can truly see a struggle between good and evil. It is not only a gun shoot-out, but a clash of morality within each character.

Finally a comic-based movie, though not completely accurate, that does not use the entire movie to glorify our hero. This movie has a very creative and twisted plot that leaves you guessing and even jumping out of your seat. While "Batman Begins" truly redefined the superhero film for me, I still felt it had its flaws. The pacing was a little off at times, especially when it came to the latter half of the film. It seemed to have lost the suspense and storytelling of the first hour and started to rely only on its action sequences. "The Dark Knight," however, took everything that was spectacular about its predecessor -- the brilliant performances, the beautiful cinematography, the driving music, and most of all the flawless direction of Christopher Nolan -- and created something that went far beyond my already hyped-up expectations.
Gotham City and its inhabitants have never felt so real. It's perfectly clear that Nolan nurtured every single detail that went into recreating the endangered city. The mark of a brilliant filmmaker is often not seen but felt -- and you'll feel it. There's a reason why "The Dark Knight" has topped the box office for two weeks in a row and possibly a third -- actually, there are several reasons that will be demonstrated to you once you seat yourself in front of that theatre screen (or IMAX screen, if you REALLY want to feel it).
Of course, I can't finish off the review without mentioning Heath Ledger. I don't know how to put his performance into words. All I know is that I FELT The Joker's every beat, every footstep, every blink. Feel it for yourself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
