I was worried about the moving being over-hyped when I heard all the promotion prior to it's release. I am not a superhero movie fan in general but went to see the film with my husband. I was completely blown away! I have no complaints about this movie. The acting was fantastic. It was action-packed and had something for everyone. FANTASTIC FILM!!! I can't wait to see what they do for #3!!!!!!!!

Leading up to the release of The Dark Knight I heard a lot of people comparing Heath Leger's portrayal of the Joker to that of Jack Nicholson, and I don't think that there should be the comparison. Mr. Nicholson was the perfect actor to portray the character in the much lighter themed "Batman." After seeing The Dark Knight, which is a much darker movie, Heath Ledger was ASTOUNDING in his portrayal of the Joker, and in this reviewer's opinion, made the movie. I strongly recommend this film to both comic book fans and non-fans, as I feel that not only is it an action powerhouse, but it also has deeper meaning interwoven through the entire story.

I've never been impressed by the concept of Batman, or the past movies. While I still wasn't impressed by Batman in this movie, overall the movie was astounding. The action scenes were spectacular and everyone's role was fulfilled wonderfully. I was especially wowed by Ledger's performance as "the Joker".

My expectations for The Dark Knight were very high, and it didn't meet them. It was simply good, but not great. Too long. Plot gets convoluted at times. Needed a better editor to streamline the story. Also, this is the last time I will see a major movie like this on opening weekend. The crowds were insane.

I always cover my face during the parts of movies that make me nervous. In this movie, my face was covered a good 80% of the time. The characters were well developed, the actors were believable, the writers stayed within the guides of the comic for the most part. It was better than the hype.

As a comic collect, huge action fan, and lover of Batman Begins... I wasn't impressed by the movie. It felt slow and awkward too often, there was too many plots and subplotsj and Bale's Batman has not grown to be any more convincing.
The greatest thing about this movie is that Ledger's turn as the joker added a depth and realism to the character that is to date unparalleled. He was menacing, psychotic humorous, anarchic, and brilliant all in one... but that wasn't enough to carry the movie for me.

There is nothing I can add to the overwhelming avalanche of praise for this film. Michael Caine is correct; Heath Ledger will receive an Academy Award nomination and should win. During the showing I attended, the audience often applauded at the end of scenes he was in, or gasped out loud in amazement at the very least.
The only criticism I have is that the ending was anti-climatic to the rest of the film, and was shot at such close quarters that it was difficult to tell what was going on. Otherwise, fantastic.

Outstanding movie. Heath Ledgers portrayal of the Joker was superb, showing he was a menace to society with no remorse.He seemed to totally loose himself in the role. This is the best Batman film yet, hopefully the next installment will be as well thought out and put together.

So sad about heath ledger, the possibilities he could have had, by far his greatest role ever. This movie is one for the ages which needs to be viewed more than once. so much action and story its hard to take in the first time around.

Very well done. I thought I liked Batman Begins. But this film took Batman to the next level. Great new gadgets, and of course the Joker. This is how I always thought the Joker should have been played. It's hard to remember its Heath Ledger. Fantastic performances. I will see it again, and when released on DVD it's a must buy. If I had a third hand it would be 3 thumbs up. Don't miss this film.

The movie was not stop action; very witty, excellent writing and the story was intriguing--it never missed a beat.
All actors did a superb job especially Heath Leger as the Joker. Excellent cast, director, stunts, etc. I expect an osar nod...do I hear nominations??...of course! Need I mention an Oscar worthy film?

My daughter and I went to the 12pm show 7/17, the projector had a problem, we waited an hour for the 2-1/2 hr. movie. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!! We got home at 4am. The movie was so good, with surprises throughout and my favorite was Christian Bale as Batman (I can't imagine anyone else playing him now). My daughter's favorite was Joker (Heath captured her heart). I thought the whole cast was fantastic.

I didnt get to excited about seeing Dark Knight. I figured that everything was in the previews. Movies that have this much hype are never as good as they make you think. I was truely surprised. My whole family loved it. It was the best Bat Man movied so far. We are truely saddened that the Joker character will never be played again by Heath, he truely created the Joker character.

You've seen and heard all the hype. IT'S NOT HYPE! This movie has everything a movie buff like myself wants. I love Gary Oldman; he truly shines as Gordon. And Heath Ledger's Joker is the scariest villain since Leatherface wielded his Chainsaw in the Texas Massacre! I was stunned.
Plenty of gadgets, the beautiful/rich, the very bad, and even a lesson for society without pushing our face in it. You MUST see this movie in the theater - it's that good!

Once in a blue moon a sequel is better than it's original... this is one of those times. Heath Ledger (God rest his soul) deserves the Oscar. He is the best villan I have ever seen on screen. His performance steals the show! Despite great performances by Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart, I still couldn't wait for the next Joker sequence. Unfortunately Aaron Eckhart will be severely in the shadow of Ledger's performance, but I found him to be a greatly played character as well. PHENOMENAL! Can't wait for the next one, and good luck MR. Nolan in trying to duplicate this one... you've got some hard work ahead of you...
