The Dark Knight, man, does this movie keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time! This is why we go to the movies, for the sheer excape into a world beyond our own. In this case it was a world that could much resemble our own, this is what Christopher Nolan does well, he brings a realism into the characters and background that we can all relate with to some degree. This movie was made not only for the average comic-book geek like myself but for the unknown and less critical movie-goer. The movie was breathtaking with its visuals and action-packed excitment. Heath Ledger's performance was beyond phenominal, each scene with the Joker just stole the show. His character is infatuating with his shrill hilarity yet scary attributes that I yearned for the next of appearance of his treacherous behavior on the screen. Christian Bale's performance as Batman was a bit darker then his previous but just not as exciting as Ledger's nor Eckhart's (Harvey Dent). In fact, Bale kind of overdid his disguised voice as the Cape Crusader that it was almost funny to hear especially as he's trying to have a conversation with Lucious Fox (Freeman), who knows that he is Bruce Wayne! I was completely disappointed with Maggie Gyllenhaul's Rachael Dawes character, her beauty and performance was lackluster to Katie Holmes that I couldn't believe that two of the biggest names of Gotham were fighting over her! In all, hands down, The Dark Knight is the best movie of the summer and audiences of all ages, will be captivated of this explosive movie experience.

i thought that the movie was probably 45 mins longer than it needed to be. Also, the whole pace of the movie is more reminiscent of walking through the various stages of a video game than anything remotely like the kind of film where more conventional movie tools are used.... like a plot , character development etc.
Gotham , I always thought was supposed to be New York City. Therefore, I was a little surprised to see a lot of Chicago city scapes in this movie as well.
having said all that, I must also say that Heath Ledger did a fabulous job with the joker role. It really is a shame that we lost this guy

What a superbly done movie. Dark, Dark, Dark, as Batman should be. A.K.A the first Batman with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. This is, by far, Heath Ledgers best performance of his life. I just loved seeing the inner conflict of the Batman character, classic!

I didn't want this movie to end. This movie goes beyond the previous versions of Batman. Tim Burton's version was more stylized or even cartoonish at times, similar to the tv series. The Dark Knight creates a horrifying real world. The types characters I've never seen before. The Joker is sadistic and enchanting. I was drawn to Ledger's chaos. Many say Ledger's performance rival's Nicholson's performance as the joker. I say take it one step further, Ledger's performance revivals Nicholson's performance in "The Shinning". This Joker character is the scariest character in film history. Aaron Eckhart also makes a great performance as Harvey Dent. Dent is tested and pushed to complete destruction. Eckhart is brilliant and second to know one in this film. Its interesting to see Bale as Batman change throughout this film. Batman's morals become more clear through this film Bale portrays a complex batman that makes surprising choices. Great Cast, Great Writing. Amazing film.

Before seeing the movie I was the biggest critic. I didn't give Heath Ledger a inch of acting credit and the previews showed me a mediocre performance at best. But I told my wife on our way to the theater that I'll give the movie and his performance a fair shake. I'm a man of my word. After seeing the film, his performance is without a doubt Oscar worthy. I admit when I'm wrong and his performance was legendary. It literally sent chill up my spine.

This was the best Batman movie ever. The story was great, the setting and effects were excilent...this movie definately lived up to the hype. Heath Ledger's Joker was a disturbing, twisted individual with seemingly no reason behind his madness. Ledger emersed himself so completly in this role, it is very difficult to see the person who played suck likable characters in other films. It's no wonder that he was having problems sleeping (if his fellow actors are to be believed). It's such a tragedy that he played the best role of his life, and that life was ended so abruptly. Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, and Gary Oldman all did excilent jobs giving their characters more depth than previous Batman movies allowed. Although this series of Batman movies are darker, I think they portray a better, more reallistic version of how Gothom City would really be.

The best comic hero film I've seen. I was so impressed by the story and the overall plot, the acting, and even the directing of the film. The story was so good, that it left the special effects and action sequences second, which is unusual for this type of movies. I highly recommend it. I thought the first 30 min. were too slow and not as intense for this genre, but it only helps build momentum and ads to the overall quality of the film. Pay close attention to each character, individually, and as part of the story. This movie makes me believe in Hollywood again. :)

Though an all-star cast, I've never seen a villan so predictable, nor a hero so unconfident. Roles were not as tight as I'd like to have seen. Oscar nods?? Possibly Gary Oldman and Maggie G., otherwise with lack of cinematic thrill and length of time it took to tell this tale, average at best. Sorry, Batman, loved ya since I was a kid!!!

The Dark Knight transcends the summer popcorn movie (though it serves that purpose masterfully) and deserves to mentioned in the company of the finest films ever made. As the final credits rolled, one cannot help but dispair at the loss of Heath Ledger, who gives hands down the greatest perfomace of this film and creates maybe the best screen villain since Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector.

Hands down this is the best depiction of a comic book hero on film. The acting was wonderful and the movie pulled me in to their world.

This movie was absolutely great, so much better than the last Batman movie! Heath Ledger really stole the show with his scary antics and stellar performance. He really took the villain character and ran with it! I will really miss him, and if he is not awarded an Oscar for this performance then those Oscar nominators have no idea what a great performance is. You were great Heath! We are gonna miss you!!!!

This is the best of the series so far. Well played by all actors, especially Heath Ledger. He got into the mind of the Joker and played him like he was playing a real-life character, not a comic book one; Oscar worthy performance. I've seen it twice and I'll see it again.

A group of under-rated actors stepping up to the plate, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal rose above my expectations. Even Christian Bale wasn't terrible, proving that with great writing and incredible direction, any lame actor can make it big. See this one in theatres, you wont be disappointed.

While I give a qualified recommendation to see this movie, particularly for Health Ledger's performance, if you want to hear the dialogue at all, wait for the DVD to come out when you can turn on the subtitles. The soundtrack overwhelms the dialogue in a number of points during the movie, making it unintelligible.

two and a half hours of awesomeness. as someone who has only a few years ago been interested in the "superhero movies" this was a wonderful movie. and my boyfriend who has always loved the comics loved it too. it takes batman out of the whiz bang pow era into a real world that all of us can understand. i would see it again and again.

This movie received way too much hype and was boring at times. It dragged on forever and should have finished up about 45 mins sooner. How many times did Harvey Dent flip his coin...75? Watching Batman ride his lame motorcycle was embarrassing...and when he did the terrible 180 wall turn seemed cheesey. Batman's voice is so so bad and seems like he is straining to sound like that. I could hear abour 4 or 5 people around me yawning as I did the same. Anyone think Bruce Wayne needs a hotter leading lady than Maggie Gyllenhaal?

I was at first, disappointed that Katie Holmes was not in the movie. I enjoy returning characters. But Maggie Gyllenhaal was a great replacement.
Lot of action - a bit long. I thought a great place to stop would have been once Dent became two-face, leaving us with an appetite for the next installment.
Some areas were hard to follow as so many things were going on at one time.
Overall, enjoyable and definitely worth the ticket price. Heath Ledger delivered as all the hype promised.
