This movie was amazing. From Heath Ledger's masterful performance as the Joker, to Christian Bale's brooding & conflicted Dark Knight, this was one for the ages. I would highly recommend it to Batman fans, action movie fans, and fans of films that examing society, and the things that drive people to commit the actions they do in life.

All the buzz and hype about Heath Ledger's performance was true... this was his most incredible role ever. This movie screams "sequel," and it's sad to know that Ledger can never reprise his role as the Joker. It will be impossible to recreate that character with as much depth and darkness as Ledger put into it.

This movie was excellent, and i definitely recommend you see it. The only thing that bothered me was Batman's voice. It probably had nothing to do with Christian Bale himself, but the "5 packs of Camel Wides a day" voice just became comical after the first half hour of the movie.
And I'm sure you've already heard this, but Heath Ledger was actually quite amazing. All the acting was phenomenal.

After all the previews and the hype about Ledger's posthumous Oscar nod, I had some lofty expectations for The Dark Knight. I felt that comic book movies had been done poorly in the past, Batman Begins included. But, I had new hope for the genre going into this movie. The brief excerpts of "The Joker" unveiled in the movie's previews eluded to a new kind of villain. One that was not only sinister, but calculating and unpredictable. I still didn't believe Christian Bale made a good Batman. He plays the part of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne very well, but comes up very short as the caped crusader just as he did in Begins. Maggie Gyllenhal and Aaron Eckhart are also pretty poor in the portrayal of their roles, and don't really sell their on screen romance. Although that is probably a flaw in either directing or screen writing rather than acting talent. When Eckhart's DA Harvey Dent becomes "Two-Face" (if you don't see it coming on your own, it's probably best I tell you since most Batman fans will know as soon as his infamous two headed coin is revealed early on), it throws a unique and even more unpredictable wild card into the mix for Batman and Lieutenant Gordon (played by Gary Oldman). As expected Morgan Freeman and Micheal Caine lend their talents to small but significant roles and accentuate the cast all the more given the flaws of some of the major players. Finally, Ledger really takes command of the screen during his scenes. Partly because everyone wanted to see his last performance, partly because he had been given a substantial amount of Oscar buzz for the role and partly because based on the reviews and previews already released he seemed to be a particularly nasty villain. Ledger really did a fantastic job with "The Joker." Unlike Jokers of the past like Nicholson, he is not the jokester that those were. This new incarnation reveals himself as the movie goes on as a cold, ruthless and terribly resourceful villain that enjoys chaos and destruction and takes great pleasure in orchestrating it. Ledger has some funny screen gems that are more funny situations rather than classic clown gags like Nicholson's electric joy-buzzer. Another subtle change was Joker's makeup. The new joker sports twins scars in the corners of his mouth and a smeared application of makeup to lend itself to the joker's more chaotic tendencies. Those who want to know the origins of the new joker will be disappointed soon after the movie begins after the joker concocts several stories as to the origin mangled appearance. All in all I gave The Dark Knight a 9 out of 10, but the five star system doesn't really allow for 4 and a half stars. It is my opinion that anyone should enjoy this movie and would likewise recommend it to anyone.

2 1/2 hours of action and eye candy. The success of this film rests largely on the Joker which is played to perfection by Heath Ledge. He is, hands down, the star of the movie. Too bad he won't be able to do a sequel. It did seem a little long, but with the level of acting and lots of action, it held your attention to the end. Looking forward to the next chapter. Again, it's a shame Ledger won't be available.

This movie lives up to comic book fans expectations. The Joker that would recklessly kill a Robin was brought to life in this sequel and Harvey Dent/Two Face couldn't get more on target without Frank Miller getting involved. Bale as Batman was great again! Looking forward to a third installment.

This movie was excellent in every way. Some might find it a bit long but it moves very fast.
All the actors did a terrific job. Most focus on Heath Ledger, and it was a brilliant performance, but all the actors did a wonderful job. I am a big Gary Oldman fan and found his performance very enjoyable.
I would recommend this to anyone.

So, in terms of batman movies, this one wasn't quite as good as "Batman Begins" in my honest opinion. Heath Ledger's performance outshines all others and is worth the ticket price by itself. If you're looking for a good action flick, go ahead and see the movie. If you're looking for a more realistic batman movie, you might just wait to rent this one, 'cause you may be a little let down.

Honestly,with all of the hype surrounding the Dark Knight I was sure I would like it but I never expected it to be as phenomenal as it was. I was blown away! Nonstop action. Amazing performances by Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and yes,the late Heath Ledger. Heath was unrecognizable as the Joker. I have been a fan of Heath Ledger since I saw him in the Patriot, but his performance in The Dark Knight gave me chills! No one will ever be able to play the Joker again. EVER! All around just an amazing movie; I already want to see it again. Lastly, leave the little ones home, as The Dark Knight is quite violent.

Ledger is everything the Joker was drawn to be - a complete psycho. The film takes the Batman franchise to a new level by reintroducing everything that made the comic such a compelling creation - twisted villians, morally complex heroes and rampaging violence. The film stretches into 2 1/2 hours so keep that in mind before you buy that bladder-bursting jumbo coke.

This movie blew the hype out of the water. This is probably sounding redundant by now, but Heath really raised the bar for villains...and acting in general. The Joker was portrayed just how he should have been...meniachal, psychotic, disturbed, no remorse, and even a bit humorous. I'm not a big fan of Aaron Eckhart but I think he did a great job. I was also glad that Gary Oldman's Comissioner Gordan had a bigger role in this film. He is a great actor and his character is amazing in this movie. Maggie Gyllenhall was way better than Katie Holmes ever would have been and Christian Bale is the best Batman to date. Plus, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman? Wow...seriously the best movie of the year. Well done Christopher Nolan...well done.
