By far the darkest of the Batman movies to date, and the best thus far. The acting was great, wonderful characters, and OMG the makup on the Joker and Two Face......WOW! Definitely a must see film.

The current edition of Batman is a fun romp with an amazingly inventive portrayal of a cliche character, by H. Ledger.
The; exploration of the ethical conflicts of the rogue hero (one of everyone's favorites) is shallow but honest and refreshing in a comic book plot.
The violence was like the bass line in a jazz symphony. I liked it.

The movie is AMAZING. Slightly on the long side, but it keeps you entertained. I can see myself going back and watching it several more times. Definitely one of the greatest movies this year!

"The Dark Knight" is full of action, however I still like the original Batman (Michael Keaton) the best. Don't get me wrong, Christian Bale makes an awesome Batman...and Heath Ledger was excellent as the Joker...but it is so much "darker" than the original. I would not recommend this movie to small children, as they may have nightmares.

Loved this movie. If you're a fan of the Kevin Conroy Batman & the WB Series, this movie will not disappoint. It captures the essence of the villain ... there are no two ways about it ... you should be scared when you see villains and not feel like you're at some child's birthday party. Nolan is amazing and I truly hope he decides to do a third installment.

This movie is a definate summer blockbuster. I can't wait to see it again and again. The price of a movie today is high, but with such a great story, I didn't mind paying for it.
It is not a child friendly movie...but adults will enjoy this new chapter in the series.

What Tim Burton originally started in a movie series, what Joel Schumacher single handedly destroyed in a film franchise, Christopher Nolan has come and perfected it. Reinventing Batman, making it more than a comic book movie, adding story, emotion, and feeling. I originally thought I would not like this movie as much as Batman Begins because gotham city was not given that Burton look that he is good at doing, it was just a normal looking city but that did not grab my attention at all in this installment or the previous. The stories that tie the characters together is genius. The acting is first rate, Ledger does a great job making the Joker character his own, Christian Bale is probably the best person to play Batman thus far but Keaton would not be far behind, Maggie Gyllenhaal? I do not know how she ended up in this movie, but someone who can act better would have made this movie flawless, and Michael Caine just adds polish to the film. This movie is just more than just Batman a crimefighter, it explores the person inside, the man behind the mask, it gives him a name and shows that even a superhero is human. If you're looking for action, suspense, and a good film with more than just blood and gore but a good story then see this one.

I must admit there's a part of me that misses the stylized Batman films by Tim Burton. However, one is hard pressed to find flaws in the re imagining of the franchise by Christopher Nolan. The gritty world here is far more realistic than anything in the earlier films, and it would be much more difficult for the series to descend into the silliness of the Schumaker films as it stands now.
The Dark Knight is a substantial improvement over Batman Begins and Heath Ledger's performance lives up to the hype. The scenes presented in the previews don't start to represent the brilliance of his performance.
My only reservation would be to be careful allowing preteens to see the film since the violence is much less cartoonish than many might expect from a Batman film. Still, fans of the comic should be used to this style and will probably find it refreshing.

If there was a quinticential sequel better than the original, this movie is it. It's darker, faster, more complex, with a much darker and more desperate evil. Heath Ledger's performance was steller - what a better way to go out in a blaze of glory.

This was MY most anticipated movie of the summer and it exceeded all expectations. The translation from the comics to the big screen was superb. It perfectly captured the grittiness of the Dark Knight era. Every character was complex and each have their own interpetation of justice and good & evil. Batman's relationship with The Joker was spot on. One can't exist without the other. Speaking of The Joker, his screen presence was so engrossing that Batman became a supporting character. I thought Jack Nicholson was the epitome of The Joker but Heath's portrayal is the new standard!

This movie was awesome. It lived up to all the hype and then some. The cast had great chemistry. It could have ended 35 minutes earlier and i would have still been happy. This movie had all the elements. They did this one right. i can't wait until the next one. The way they introduces "Two-face" was great!!!!

Christian Bale had already surprised us and proved that he could wear the batsuit, scare us, kick villians into next Tuesday and make us wish that Bruce Wayne really could get the girl in "Batman Begins'. But in "The Dark Knight", we get to see the posthumous Heath Ledger surprise us all with his freak, madman role as The Joker. Ledger's Joker makes Jack Nicholson's version look like a pansy. Even Aaron Eckhart turns in a surprising performance as Harvey Dent and I for one cannot wait to see him back as "Two Face". Bale did not disappoint again and never before has the inner struggle between Bruce Wayne and Batman been so perfectly humanized. Christopher Nolan has hit the ball WAY out of the park with this one.

From acting, plot, directing, special and video effects, to any other characteristic that makes a film great instead of just good, this movie deserves the highest grades possible.
The only negative is that Heith Ledger won't be seen again as the fabulous Joker who he portrayed in the Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight was a fantastic film. Not just because of Ledger's great performace as The Joker. But Harvey Dent/Two Face (Aaron Eckhart) was great and all of the actors were amazing. The story itself was good and there was plenty of suspense.
