Heath Ledger's creepy performance as Joker was the best part of this movie- a great character actor, Ledger portrayed an inner dark side unlike any previous Batman villian had achieved. One has to wonder if Heath's shocking end after shooting this movie is in any way connected to the mood he brought onto the screen. The rest of the movie was highly predictable, repetitive/redundant scenes and dialouge and ideas already covered in the previous movie- Batman Returns. The acting lacked passion(with exception of Ledger)- it was surprisingly flat. The continued 'teaser' endings where truely tiring. The set-up for the sequel-the marriage of two-face and joker- could have happened earlier and 30 minutes could have been cut off the movie without loosing any dramatic effect.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This movie is a must see! I can't wait to buy it on DVD. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger did incredible in this film. Out of all the Batman movies and TV series there has not been two better people to play the roles of Batman and The Joker. Heath has definately left a great legacy that no one is going to be able to fill. Awesome job guys!

I was looking forward to this movie ALMOST as much as I was looking forward to the Transformers last year, and I was sure it would be a hit. I'm sorry to say however that I was rather diappointed. I would recommend it simply because I am a fan of Batman and I am loyal to movie franchises that I enjoy - also, it wasn't a terrible movie I think it was just cursed by the fact that there was so much hype around it. I was expecting the best movie ever but instead I got a movie that was at times hard to follow, too many twists and turns, and not enough good Batman scenes. Of course, I like everyone else it seems thought that Heath Ledger stole the movie - he was awesome!! Anyway, if you are a true fan of the Batman movies go see it, you will be entertained, but don't be expecting a gem. Batman (1989) still the best,. followed by Batman Begins, then The Dark NIght, and Batman Returns. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin don't count in my book - two of the worst movies EVER!!

I'm a big fan of Christian Bale and have seen all the Batman movies. This one was, by far, the best! It's dark so not recommended for children but wow! Heath Ledger deserves an Academy Award for his performance and not because he has passed on. Fantastic, action packed, lots of angst and you don't even realize you have been watching for 2 1/2 hours. A MUST SEE!

Well I personally loved Wanted way more than this movie. Obviously, Heath Ledger was awesome and was the best part of the movie. In my opinion, this movie seemed to drag on forever and I started falling asleep. But guys would definitely like this. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FOR KIDS...THERE WERE 5 YEAR OLDS IN THE THEATER. PARENTS...DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS!! TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE!!

The one question I pondered after watching DARK KNIGHT: "How does life go on after seeing it?" Seriously, I sat in complete awe of what I had just seen, right up until the last credit. I just didn't know what to do with myself. I felt like I should have smoked a cigarette or something. ("Was it good for you?") This is quite possibly one of the best films ever made. Ever.

I would definetly recomend this to friends. Heath does a great job, he is the star role of this film and will be greatly missed. It was a 2.5hr movie and in my opinion you could hardly notice, every second kept me on edge.

I really enjoyed the Dark Knight. I thought the action was good, the plot was interesting, and I especially enjoyed the Joker (he was very amusing and maniac-like). I did think that it appeared to be a little lengthy but that is my only complaint. I can't wait to see it at the IMAX!

Overall great flick. Fantastic performances throughout. Totally sets a new bar for what comic book movies can be.
It will remind you how unfortunate and untimely Ledger's death was as his "Joker" is the type that would haunt your dreams. The best of the series so far and easily the best film year.

Action packed scenes, hear stopping moments, incredible acting through and through. LOVE THAT JOKER! Some scenes very realistic almost with a "9/11" feel with the bombs and Joker terrorism and all. Never seen a movie with no bloody gore scenes or cuss words that kept me tense on the edge of my seat like this movie did. Very adult feel... very SERIOUS actors who immersed themselves in their roles. Don't rule out superhero movies at the Oscars this time.

I was skeptical with all the hype that preceded The Dark Knight's release, but I was pleasantly surprised at how great this movie was. It had an interesting story, and the interaction between all the key characters kept you wanting more. My biggest surprise was the portrayal of Joker by Heath Ledger. He really does deserve an Oscar bid for this character. He gave me no reason to think that he was anyone other than the Joker, it was incredible, you had no idea or hint that it was Heath Ledger under that make-up. My only criticism was that I wanted to know his back story - but I know only so much can go into the movie without diminishing other parts of the story. Over all AWESOME!!

Wow. Unbelievable. I have something of a nostalgic streak, so I will always hold the original Superman movie over all other superhero movies. It set the standard, it was the first. But this summer, I definitely discovered the number 2 superhero movie: Iron Man. Yep, i was absolutely blown away by it, raved about it to everyone. And then I saw the Dark Knight. Holy crap. This movie makes Iron Man look like a fan film filmed in a college kid's garage. Fantastic action sequences, excellent pacing throughout, wonderful dialogue and character development, and Oscar-worthy performances. Trust me, the hype over Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is NOT HYPE. Its just the truth! Although the Joker is radically different from the comic book version visually, Heath captured his personality and sheer madness perfectly. Heath deserves a nomination, for sure. Maggie Gyllenhall was a fine replacement for Katie Holmes, whom I can't stand. Christian Bale was as great as he is in every one of his films, and is just as good as Bruce Wayne as he is as Batman. Michael Caine, an acting legend at this point, captures Alfred's spirit perfectly: A sincere concern and love for Bruce, balanced with a strong sarcastic streak regarding his nighttime activities. Morgan Freeman, another acting legend, is as rock solid as usual as Lucius Fox, Bruce's right hand man at Wayne Enterprises. Aaron Eckhart was great as Harvey Dent, nothing special though....until he became Two-Face. Wow...wish he had more screen time as the coin-flipping psycho. His fury and madness just EXPLODED out of the screen, it was really something. And last but not least, Gary Oldman as good ol' Commissioner Gordon. It's just so cool to see Gary play a good guy, and there's some real work for him in this movie again. Not like the previous versions of the Commish, where his job is to just flip on the Bat-signal. No, Mr. Oldman flexs his acting muscles in this one, yet another powerhouse performance from this powerhouse cast. There is a serious bias against fantasy/sci-fi/superhero movies in the Academy if this cast doesn't get at LEAST one nomination. Anyway, not only the (ok, second) best Superhero movie of all time, but one of the best MOVIES of all time. Period. Go see it. Then see it again.
