Fantastic movie, and historically accurate to the series. But..... I dont understand the Spock-Uhura thing. What happened to the Vulcan 7 year itch ritual as portrayed in the series. Remember the Spock vs. Kirk fight? This issue puzzles me.
This is exactly what the series needed, a prequel at last! Cant wait to buy the BlueRay version.

Remember the old Mirror, Mirror Star Trek episode,where Kirk gets trapped in an alternate universe where the Federation and his crew are all "bad". Well this movie uses this basic idea to create a new Trek without destroying the old. Events at the beginning of the movie create an "alternate" reality where the characters are the same , but different at the same time with "old" Spock stuck here with "new" Spock. I applaud this idea because it gives thefuture movies and writers to do whatever they want, without worrying about some continuity glich. If they want to kill Sulu, for example, in the next movie, they can because we don't know what happens to the Sulu in this dimension.

If you've ever been scared of Star Trek, there is now hand sanitizer for Trekkie geek germs. "Star Trek" is a youthful, energetic film now recognizable to the sci-fi laymen. And for the seasoned Star Trek follower, this movie is a much needed push of the reset button for the aging cultural icon. Great movie even if you don't care what it's about!!

what a great energetic sci-fi extravaganza movie this was. Filled with action and just kept going forward in stead of backwards. One or two little little things that did bug me (but, i won't ruin the movie) but, over all I definatly would see this again. I did like that it had a bit of comedy when it needed it to be instead of OVERLY. fun filled movie and a friend of mine told me that it was good even for the non trek fans.

I couldn't have asked for more in a movie - especially a Star Trek movie. The in depth character development, intriguing plot line, suspenseful action sequences, incredible CGI, extremely talented cast (LOVE Zachary Quinto as young Spock) and Leonard Nimoy to top it all off. Hands down the best movie in recent years. This is going in my all time top 10! The only complaint that I have is that it ended. J.J. Abrams & Co., if you are reading this, please make sequels! (Several if possible!) *^_^*

I'd consider myself a pretty big fan of Star Trek and I very much enjoyed this movie. It made for a very fun experience. I will likely see it again in the theaters just to get the experience again. I also hope there is more from this cast. They got the characters right, which was what the original series did best.

I'm a Star Trek fan to begin with and I was extremely excited when I heard they were remaking it. When I found out who was playing the characters I was skeptical because for the most part I didn't now most of them..then I found out Karl Urban was playing "Bones" and knew he would do a great job..
The movie itself was exciting and had lots of action mixed with a bit of comedy which gave it a perfect mix...I can't wait for the 2nd part to come out i'm anxious to see what's in store...this is a must see movie even if you never watched Star Trek I think you will get it and love it...

Really enjoyed the movie. Had a hard time with Spock meeting Spock, don't think that could, would, or should happen. If they both had children what kind of relations would they be????? Definitely worth seeing again. I will buy the DVD whenit comes out.

I enjoyed this so much! I think I had a smile on my face the entire time. The characters were brought to life by the new cast of actors with the personalities and quirks of the original cast. And what a nice twist to the plot. Highly recommend any trekkie to go see it and it is Ok call yourself a nerd! I went with two millernia kids and they enjoyed it also with the hotness and action but missed a lot of the underlying innuendos swirling between the characters. Only original trekkies will know that.

I have always watched star trek every series and movie that has been out since the beginning and keep in mind i'm only 18! I love star trek with a passion but did not expect this movie to be as amazing and just action packed as it was! It did a great job showing the befor of Kirk and spock and the entire crew true trekies know and love of the exterprise! It flowed along perfectly, lots of commedy, amazing CGI, and so much cool and amazing action affects!!! I had three friends with me who never in their lives have really watched or even liked star trek and they left the movie with just excitement about how great the movie was. Amazing movie and better than anything else!!!!!! Go see it!!!!!!

I've been a fan of all things Star Trek since, dare I say it, the orginal show. The director's and writers did a great job on the "new" charaters without destroying all we knew of the "old" ones. Marvelous visuals and music score top notch. Will see again; seeing on a big screen a must.

This movie is why I go to the movies. Escapism at its finest. The fastest 2 hours I have had for awhile. The familiar lines will make you smile. The direction it takes with characters will give you hope for more to come. I don't want to give anything away, but like all of Abrams characters you can't get enough.

The cast nailed thier characters mannerisms and style from the original series. I was initaily skeptical of Simon Pegg as Scotty, but I was happily mistaken. Visual effects where excellent, story was good. only two real problems. The engine room looks as futuristic as a steam ships. and Spock gets the girl?

i thought it was the best movie of the year so far, by a long shot! it was just the right legenth and had just the right mix of action comedy and drama. i have been a star trek fan for a long time and was sceptical of the movie, but was very pleasantly supprised. the graphics were phenominal and the acting was superb! i would even go so far as to say that it is the best star trek movie released so far and i hope they continue with it.

Imagine being able to create a TV show which after all of its dizzying scrutiny and analysis, tri-corder readings and campy melodrama, touching so many people to hope for "a better world" that a movie thirty years after the first motion picture, captured the visual dream of the first Trekies? Is that possible? Could this be that good of an installment of the franchise to resurrect the original show? Will there be more movies of the "on-going voyages of the Star Ship Enterprise?" I can't answer any of those questions but "I hope so." What a great movie: fun, exciting, visually fulfilling and pure "Star Trek."

I expected the movie to be o.k.. When it was actually very good, exciting, and kept me wanting more on the edge of my seat. even the girlfriend thought that it was good. the only complaint I had was sitting next to a die hard trekkie. Any cliche' star trek line and he was laughing and clapping up a storm.

I LOVED IT!!!!! I have been a long loyal Star Trek fan since the orignal TV show through all the Next Genrations TV shows to all the movies. J.J. Abrams and Lenord Nimoy have paid respect to original and next generation storyline. They have updated sets, costumes, and actors . The young adult verions of the orignal chartacers were hauntingly like the orignal actors from the first show. Some truely funny one liners brought me back to the original tv show. This movie is has reenergized the franchise and brought it to a New Generation. Star Trek Lives. I will go back and watch it agin !

The movie is very well done and just the right length. Special effects are of course phenomenal and it was great recognizing all the old personalities portrayed my new actors. The only reason I did not rate a 5 was because I didn't think the story was the best and I noted a couple flaws in the plot. If there was a 4.5... :) Definitely go see it on the big screen.

After watching this movie I switched on my cell phone and noticed the time. I discovered that I entered into the theater at 11.30 a.m. and now it was 2.15 p.m. For the first time it felt less than an hour. I don't know if was the characters of the movie that were traveling through time or it was me. I am going to see it again to experience this time travel one more time.

As a Star Trek Fan I knew that the movie would differ from the series that I know and love. I was worried that JJ Abrams (although I love the man) would turn it into a Hollywood saga. There was enough Star Trek quotes and themes to keep me happy! It was sooo good! I was not disappointed! My non-star trek fan friends loved it too!
