I think they hit the mark with all the characters. I was really impressed with Zachery Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as McCoy, Zoe as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty. I really enjoyed this movie.

I hated the original star trek. I hated it basically because of Captain Kirk (the overactor). I was happy to see the new Kirk and his acting skills are phenominal as is the rest of the cast. They cast each role extremely well and, according to my Trekkie hubby, they stayed with the original storyline. I saw it for free (through an advanced screening) and thought it was so good I paid to see it again with friends a few days later. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!

This was one of the most action packed Star Trek movies I've ever seen. The special effects were fabulous with a strong story line. It was especially important to see the origins and development of the character relationships of the crew we all know from television.
I enjoyed every minute and plan to see it again. This is definitely one for your DVD collection when released.

I am not a Star Trek fan and am not quite sure why I went to see it. However, it turned out to be a really good movie. It was very entertaining with all the sci-fi, action and a little bit of humor. It contains a cast that keeps you guessing who is going to be the next to appear in this movie. I would recommend it to both Trekies and non Trekies.

This was by far the best of the Star Trek Movies. The actors were true to the characters they represented, it left me with the feeling that I was truly watching the younger versions of the original cast. A true Treky will notice that the movie keeps true to the original episodes as this one picks out little details from the original episodes and revisits them in the movie. This one is definitely action packed keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

We all have to admit that Star Trek was 'losing its cool'. The tv shows were shown again and again, and the movies became less and less important.
When director J.J. Abrams came up to the stage, I didn't know what was going to be in store for the new Star Trek.
If this was another sequel, it would probably be unsuccessful. But to go back and make a prequel of what happened before the first Star Trek movie is brilliant!
Chris Pine played James T. Kirk, and he accepted the role with great power.
Although this movie may get intense in all rating categories, it has a wonderful story with a high morale.

I went to see Star Trek with fairly low expectations. As a devout trekkie myself, I figured that the franchise had long since gone the way of its creator. While the last few movies were decent, they certainly were not up to the high standards I had set after viewing TOS and TNG in their entirety. While Star Trek's latest cinematic incarnation is not in keeping with the aesthetic nor the plot line of the original series and movies, it certainly revived the franchise for me, and for others, in a way that I never would have considered possible.

I love this movie! Saw it on Mother's Day with my daughter who has never liked Star Trek. She loved it too!
Cheers to the cast who recreated the characters so well. You really believe they are the younger versions of the originals. True to the original Star Trek series, this movie has lots of action, great special effects and a good story. Kudos to the writers who kept the humorous touches which are an intregal part of the original characters and their relationships.
This is a wonderful movie adventure for all ages. It is obvious there will be more to follow from this fantastic cast. Star Trek is going to continue to "go where no one has gone before."

Story line was great, The special affects were great. Loved that the main characters seemed to recreate the mannerisms and presentations of their lines just as the original actors did.
I also loved the humor that was mixed in.

If you know the Star Trek universe, you will be greatly pleased.
Those who know the series will be entertained to see the familiar characters on the screen. The cast does a good job of capturing the mannerisms of the old cast.
The timeline for Star Trek is usually written in gold. All the series and the movie adhere to the same timeline, which is what makes the whole universe attractive.
This movie changes the timeline It is done in, in such a way that it should be accepted. I would pose that it was good enough to attract Leonard Nimoy to reprise his role.
All in all.....Star Trek Fan or Not. There is something in this boost of the Franchise for everyone.

This movie is, without a doubt, the best in special effects yet. The way they were able to work in the twist of future and past, was exciting. It allowed for the differences of the characters, while keeping the some of the things we love best about them. The action packed scenes kept me on the edge of my seat. Several of us Trekies were clapping and whoopin it up. I want to see it again, soon!!!

I'm 40 yrs old and a non-Star Trek fan. But the trailer's for it were so good, I went to see it anyway. And man am I glad I did!
This movie was very well written, as you don't need to be a Trekkie to understand it. The laughs were plentiful, and more importantly, original. The effects were incredible as well. Overall, this was one of the best movies I've seen in quite some time.
Don't wait for it to come out on video. In fact, spend an extra couple bucks and see it in Digital Projection (like I did). Well worth the $$, in my humble opinion.

Growing up in the 60's, I loved Star Trek, and now the Trek has grown-up too. The special effects were great, the acting was admirable, but the casting and writing MADE the movie. Hats Off to JJ Abrams and company!

Absolutely amazing! This movie kept my interest from beginning to end. You will stay on the edge of you seat. it's funny, interesting, filled with action and has a little bit of sexy going on! This movie will keep you wanting more! The only disappointment was, I expected a little bit more from Captain Kirk. They could get someone else to play the part a little better. he was kind of like a teen movie type actor! Other than that loved it loved it! I mean even Tyler Perry's in there for crying out loud! This Trek movie is the best of both worlds: Easily accessable to old and new fans alike! You don't need to know the history of this franchise to follow the story or the characters but it certainly enriches the experience for devout followers of the Star Trek mythos. Some die-hard fans may snipe at certain key plot points but the main purpose of this film is bring in a new audience and it succeeds greatly! Abrams and his writing team make you connect instantly with every character (Kirk,Spock, McCoy,Uhura, et al.). I personally can't wait for the next film!!

After seeing Star trek, I reflected on other recent action movies that has an established fan-base already. And as many movie critics compare this to iron man, i think it is better. It kept my attention the entire length of the movie, while Iron man did most of the movie, but not the entire movie. Plus star trek stayed true to the preceding story lines, and added a believable twist! definitely a must see!

I enjoyed this movie - the storyline was well written. Loved the casting of Scotty, Spock ( new & old ) and Dr McCoy. Didn't love the actor who play Capt Kirk. Other casting was GREAT! Special effect were very good. I would definitely reccomend this movie.
