This was the best movie that I have seen in a long, long time! The effects were excellent. Story was great! Downey was the best fit for this movie. He is a great actor that has been overlooked by his troubled past. Look for some of his early movies like Less Than Zero.

Action packed, quick witted and amazing special effects. This movie was a must see for me as my sister ( a stunt woman) plays Ramirez the driver of the hum v in the opening scene; that said I was thinking " another comic book movie...oye!
To my delight it was fast paced, thrill filled and a bit moving...add a smattering of sideways commentary on war and our presesnt political mess and it was a definite big screen go see.

I went to see this movie with my children and their friends. I had no idea what the movie was about. I was pleasantly suprised at how impressed I was - this movie holds your attention for the entire 2 hours and 6 minutes; and don't forget to wait until all the credits have run for a peek at the next installment! Enjoyment for the whole family with definite "cover your eyes" moments.

A great movie. Tons of action, a great storyline and the actors were perfect. Very enjoyable!
Definitely a PG-13 though...several small kids in movie and they were all crying at one particular scene.

From start to finish, this movie grabbed and held me in my seat. It has been a long while since a movie gave such an entertainment value.
The whole package! Humor, suspense, drama and good old fashion kick..s. Robert Downey Jr. was superb... Paltrow's Pepper was just the right seasoning.

This is, by far, the best super hero movie that has ever been made. The plot line is complex but not too complex. There is action everywhere. The super villain is great. This movie will keep you asking for more. Have no fear, rumor says they are already working on a part 2. I definitely recommend anyone to see this movie. I would even say that it is the best movie of the year so far.

This summer should be a blast if Ironman is the first taste. There is nothing about this film that disappoints. The photography is brilliant, the screenplay is witty and beautifully executed by a wonderful cast. Special FX add to this films excitementt. The pace is fast and fun filled. Ironman is Robert Downey's crowning glory. I want to go back to see it again. Note, however, that this is no kid's movie. Adult content including references to alcoholic behaviour and screen violence make this an adult film. Get a babysitter and go see Ironman!

But I'm glad I did. My husband is a huge Marvel fan, so I try to get into the things he likes so we have something to talk about. I probably wouldn't have gone to see Iron Man by myslef. But, we went opening night & I am glad we did. I totally enjoyed the movie. And for not being into Iron Man to begin with & not knowing much about it, I didn't feel lost in the story. My husband has already seen it 2 more times, but I think I might ask him to go back for a 4th so I can see it again! LOL

Once you realize you'll have to suspend you belief just a little more for this film than usual, it becomes a heck of a good time. The screenplay is pure formula and plays it safe. It has all the right beats at all the right times. That's about as critical as I can get. Overall, this is a great film if you're looking for a solid, pop hero, big budget, action flick. Downy does a remarkable job as Tony Stark (although I thought that Backstreet Boy inspired facial hair was a bit much). The rest of the cast is incredibly well played as well. Especially Jeff Bridges, who is barely recognizable as Obadiah Stane. The CGI is brilliant as you would expect, the character development is exceptional, and Jon Favreau does an fine job directing. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

iron man is typical of the superhero genre, requiring suspension of disbelief on many levels. i thought the effects were ok, but the continual breakage of the laws of physics made them ring false, especially in the flying scenes. the holographic CAD effects were nice.
the message of the movie is that violence is bad, unless you're killing bad guys. sheesh.
all in all, the movie is entertaining. mr. downey was so brave to take this part! and only a very fine actor, like mr. downey, with all of his foibles, could make this movie interesting from a character standpoint. it is a plus that the movie had other top flight actors.
iron man only gets 3 stars, as not nearly as good as spiderman, which i would give 4 or 5 stars.

The movie really held my attention with ties to Afganistan and todays problems. The attention to detail in mechanical movement of the armor and rocket flying characteristics amazed me. I wasn't before but I am now a Robert Downey Jr. fan. My Grandson (9) accompanied me and he is telling everyone about how exciting the movie was.

Really enjoyed this movie. I was surprised and pleased with the amount of time that was dedicated to character development. The movie was well acted with plenty of humor and refrained from becoming one special effect after another. There were a few cheezy big robots fighting scenes that I am sure were there to please the younger audience but they were thankfully brief.

Initially, I thought this may be a great actor in a poor hollywood superhero flic, but luckily I was pleasantly surprised. It was fun, a little too long but Downey makes it happen brilliantly. Favreau really was the saving grace , not creating a sappy summer flic and using great actors. See it big screen.

I saw Iron Man yesterday. This was an outstanding movie for men and women. My wife (not a superheo buff) absolutely loved it. I highly recommend you go see it on the big screen. It leaves you wanting to see more....can't wait for Iron Man 2.

With so many movies resembling each other these days, I was excited to hear all the buzz about how Iron Man stands out from the crowd of superhero movies. How disappointing to discover I'd been tricked. Knowing nothing about the story going into the theater, I instantly recognized every aspect of the plot as it seemed to take forever to unfold. There was nothing believable about Tony Stark's internal transformation and in spite of being the most interesting person on the screen, I felt sorry for Gyneth Paltrow having to pretend to be a woman capable of even the subtlest of stirrings for this flimsy, sarcastic, self-absorbed main character. If you prefer visual overstimulation and cranking up the noise over a fresh character and story idea, you won't be disappointed. But the rest of us are going to have to accept that endless variations on the same handful of adolescent male fantasies are the only weapons Hollywood seems to be developing in the pipeline for the foreseable future.

While I don't usually wait with bated breath for the release of action hero movies, the reviews and friends' reactions enticed me to view Iron Man. I was so impressed with the definition the actors gave to the characters and sense that the characters could have come from people we pass on the street. Granted, their roles were designed to be exceptional, but it was the human touches that brought the heroic within the grasp of our understanding and support.

I'd have to say, out of all of the super hero movies, this has to be the one where the actors took it the most seriously! Robert Downey Jr was a PERFECT fit for the Tony Stark role, and Jeff Bridges as the main antagonist was brilliant!! I enjoyed every minute of this movie, and am extremely glad that they decided to make it!! Can't wait for IM II!!

We enjoyed this movie very much. Smart script and acting made all the difference! Lots of action, not much gore - which we prefer. We really liked the subtle humor throughout the script....a superhero movie for grownups.
While the movie is rated PG-13, the previews for other movies shown were not appropriate for PG-13 (even though the previews said they were suitable for all audiences). We'll wait for the DVD for our younger children to see Iron Man!

This movie was amazing! Perfectly cast, flawlessly executed. Non-stop action. The first half was a little slow, but set up the rest of the movie terrifically.

This is how you make a summer action movie! Not too much or too little. You have to have to have to go check this film out IN the theater in Digital! Excellent storyline, funny, not cheesy at all.
I had to seriously sit back and think to try to find something that could be remotely negative about the film. I would have liked to seen more in the final epic battle.
