I've been an Iron Man fan for over 30 years, so I've been expecting this movie for a long time, and it delivers.
Robert Downey Jr. gives an over the top performance as Stark. Jeff Bridges was great as Stane. Paltrow was just adequate. There were no subplots Happy Hogan/Pepper/Stark that run thruout the old comics. They only mentioned Hogan once, which was a bit disappointing.
Great action, great effects. It delivers.

There's nothing to not like about Iron Man. The special effects are great, the story is unique, and the characters are pitch perfect. Thanks to Robert Downey Jr., we finally have a comic book movie that you can watch a second time without fast forwarding through the non-super hero scenes. I hope Michael Bay and Sam Raimi take notes. Here's where Jon Favreau gets it right: Fewer, but necessary, lead characters. Comprehendable action scenes, you never weren't sure about what was going on. And finally, comedy that's ACTUALLY FUNNY.
Literally a perfect movie, I can't wait for the sequels!

Except for the half and hour of previews, the movie started good, built momentum, and finished strong with a nice plot twist, special effects were off the chart, and the awesome sound produced by the theatre put this one over the top. THIS ONE IS A MUST SEE!!!!!

Action packed from start to finish. Robert Downey Jr. finally gets the opportunity to put his angst, demons and condescention into the right role and turn it into Box Office gold. Well written dialogue adds humor and sarcasm which Downey executes wryly. Jeff Bridges is perfect as the true villain and Gwyneth Paltrow makes a convincing sensitive 'gal friday'. There are also several other 'also starring' roles that were well written, cast and played.
I was exhausted from a long work day when I walked into the movie...left the theater positively jacked up on adrenaline. If this movie doesn't thrill you, check your pulse, you may be dead.
Easily going to be one of the biggest of the Summer!!!

Great movie. We took 4 thirteen year olds. They thought is was really great and want to watch it again. This movie kept you looking for more throughout, never a dull moment! Great camera work, fun to watch, good story line. Makes you wonder what really goes on in the weapons industury. Stay until the end of the credits, there is a little more to watch!

This was a great movie although the setup was appropriate just very surprising. Great action comic figure brought to cinema. There was not a point when the movie lagged and you wondered how much time was left or for them to just get on with the story. Great characters portrayed by everyone especially Robert Downey Jr.

I went to this movie to see how close it was the cartoons I remembered as a child. It didn't disappoint...not entirely at least. There were a few discrepencies I noticed, such as he never admitted he was Iron Man till very late and after his friend found out by accident. However it does leave it wide open for another one to come out, and will go see that one was well. Overall I would say this was a very good movie, just don't take a young child to it. there was one when we went and it screamed at the action scenes...have the child about 8 or so to go see it.

Ironman is one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Definitely a summer blockbuster. The action didn't stop, the special effects were amazing, there was good humor, and Robert Downey Jr. (who I've never cared for) was great. It doesn't hurt that Gwyneth Paltrow looked stunning as well. Overall, a great movie well worth the price of a ticket and a bucket of popcorn.

One of the better comic book adaptations of recent years, a great fun summer blockbuster that delivers the goods, but won't insult viewers' intelligence either.
Robert Downey Jr. is pitch-perfect wonderful as the caddish, sarcastic, womanizing (yet incredibly cool) Tony Stark. The communist threat of the original comics is replaced here with Middle Eastern insurgents and the American war profiteers who secretly deal with them ("Kills the people he once saved" indeed).
I've always had a preference for the self-made superheros, like Batman and Iron Man, who were really just ordinary men aided by their determination and intellect rather than supernatural powers. Downey conveys this perfectly.
Jeff Bridges is a fun villain, even though it's hard to not think of a bald-headed Jeffrey Lebowski ("Tony Stark built one of those in a cave, man! Okay?!?"). Gwenyth Paltrow, who I usually don't like, did a fine job too, as did Terrence Howard, who knew exactly which humorous notes to play in his "straight man" role as Tony's close friend.
Overall a terrific popcorn film - oh, and comic book dorks, be sure to stay until the very end of the credits. You won't regret it.

4 1/2. This was a really good movie. Hubby and I took a group of twelve 10-11 year old boys for a birthday, our 14 year old daughter, and Grandma. Everyone loved it. There were a lot of side comments by Downey that the kids didn't really get. Some of the scenes went just to the edge but quit before getting crude. Overall, safe, clean, funny, great special effects. I would recommend this for the middle school set or maybe mature 4th or 5th graders, and up.

My husband took me with him to see Iron Man, and I was pleasantly
surprised. Downey is perfect for the role! It has great action, moral
conflict, even romance. Something for everyone.
I was surprised at first to find that a good deal of the movie was set
in wartime Afghanistan. They really did a good job of making a movie
about a current war that everyone will like. It's not touchy for people
from either side of the political spectrum. The bad guys are REALLY
bad, and the good guy is AWESOME.
Great movie! I hope they make a sequel.
