It was OK. Expected more. Read the reviews before going. Most of them rated it good and said it was funny. I didn't find it funny. It had about 3 funny moments but nothing great. It was kind of stupid. I realize it is based on a real character so maybe that's what makes it funny for some people. The fact that this person could lead the FBI on such a wild goose chase is funny in itself. But not enough to carry the movie.

The movie was just dumb! I sat there with my husband in complete shock that Matt Damon would play such a dumb role. We had heard the movie was funny we sat there and waited for the funny part and it never happened. Walked out on the movie which never happens with us because one we paid our money and two we give every movie a fair shake. But that was just boring as heck. Please wait for the video and even then rent it from the Local library it is just that bad.

This movie was not bad, but not great. If I were to do it again I may wait for it to come out on rental. There was a lot more that could have been explored and a lot of unanswered questions. What the movie does is make you want to see a real documentary on it or read the book. Unbelievable the job Matt Damon does though, you forget it is him and he truly becomes the character, outstanding acting.

This is not puretainment. There are no sexy characters, no "action," and no gore, but there is a gripping story -- though not scripted to be exciting. It is a documentary with some adornments (a humorous commentary by the main character). The plot is plodding at times because it is real life, confusing at times, because the main character is confused. He is smart and maddeningly stupid at the same time, and a basically good-hearted man who insists on pursuing folly to his detriment. There is no problem that he faced that was not of his own making. As soon as you feel sorry for him, he gets right back at you with an action that makes you mad -- all the way to the end. But I am glad I saw this movie because it tells an important story.

I had such expectations. Damon is usually excellent. He tried the best he could, but this was a snooze fest. I did not care one bit about the characters. Mark Whitacre was a nut and his mental illness made the movie very uncomfortable. No one was particularly likeable. The story did not need to be told. It was a big, "So What!"
I wish an Informant had warned me to stay away from this dud. The sure sign should have been an empty theater on a Saturday night -- only one week after its release - with major fanfare.

This movie was terrible, it was so boring i fell a sleep for 15 minutes. It is not even that good 4 a 1 star rating it should be 0 stars what a waste of 2 hours i will never get back.

I tilt my hat to Matt Damon for trying his best in this movie. However, in the end, it just wasn't enough. The story is interesting but not enough for 1hr and 48 mins worth. If you are interested in business and what greed can lead to, get the video when it comes out. That way you can fast forward to the last 40 mins of the movie and enjoy it.

George Clooney has gotten into explaining some of the most important but oft missed episodes that shape modern society. I truly appreciate the effort and hope he continues to do so for the sake of fostering better societal decision making.
George - get better screen writers.
The latter 30 minutes of the film was good. Everything prior to that was pretty dry. I can't help but feel that the producers thought the same and said - hmmm - put in a goofy music sound track to make it bearable. Do it. Do it. That is what I kept thinking the whole time, anyway.
I would say, see it if only as a jumping off point to understand the ADM episode, read more about ADM on the internet, and wait for Clooney's next movie with fingers crossed.
