Great acting and an interesting tale of the mentoring and rise of an American gangster. Denzel Washington plays the best bad guys. He is really good at this perhaps because for so long he played good or neutral characters. Crowe in this movie reminds me of his earlier energetic acting self. The only weaknesses: it's a bit long by maybe 30 minutes and the ending is too neat and wrapped up. I really wanted it to be a bit messier and have a darker ending. Probably just me. Worth your movie money investment. A near great movie. See it if you are over 18.

This movie wasn't as violent as the previews made it seem. It still had a plot to remember, and a cast you won't forget. Washington and Crowe are amazing, and still worth a ticket at the box office!

I absolutely loved it. Probably Denzel's best role. alot language and some of everything else , but what do you expect? it's a gangster movie. it was great and i can't wait to buy it on dvd.I highly recommend paying out the money to see it even if it's your second time.

This movie is really good, it gives a good view on how a true gangster lives. This movie is not for the faint of heart because there are some parts that are graphic but only on occasion are there schenes like that but other then that it was a good movie.

Not the type of movie I'd normally see, but I'm a big Russell Crowe fan and other people told me it was a good flick...they were right. This is one well-told story, with superb casting, acting, excellent camera work, directing and editing. Go see it. Get the big popcorn and don't leave once it starts. If you remember anything about the late 60's -- VietNam, racial struggles, drugs, Nixon -- this movie will grab you. Denzel Washington is at his best. He and Crowe are two of the finest actors of this era. It's long, but you forget that once things heat up. I was exhausted when it was over -- it was just great.

Denzel has another hit on his hands. I remember this story from the news, but seeing the 'behind the scene' story was an eyeopener. It is rather a long movie and looking back, I realized they were trying to set the story, but think it did the opposite. It was very slow moving but once it got going, the time went quickly. Well worth the time and money to see this
