Opera is not as widely appreciated in the USA as it is in other countries. The Metropolitan Opera Company has made what many consider the best opera company in the world available to all of us.
La Boheme is probably the best "first" opera I can think of. If you don't get hooked on opera with this one, you probably will not get hooked at all.
So there you have it! The best company performing the best opera for first timers. I hope it works.
