Just a very enjoyable movie. A whitty script, great animation, it has something for everyone. My party of three adults enjoyed every minute. There were a lot of kids in the matenee we attended and they were having a great time too.
The IMAX 3D is amazing. It will (or at least should) become the new standard for all movies.
Kind of a crazy idea, but it was handled better than I expected. Overall 'good' movie but not a 'great' movie. I do not understand the Oscar nominations -- it wasn't that good.
The movie was OK but it was not as good as I had hoped. No one should expect a movie to duplicate the book, but this one strays too far from the book.
Not to spoil it for those who have not seen it, the movie introduces a character not in the book. Bad enough, but the character is bizare and he (it) adds nothing to the plot.
It is beautifully drawn and the voices are wonderful, so the flaws I mention do not totally spoil the experience.
It was OK. I'm not sorry I saw it, but it is just another copy of the "Computer Takes Over the World" genre. My REAL DISAPPOINTMENT was going to the "IMAX" experience. I have been to many IMAX theaters -- this was NOT IMAX. It was regular 70mm format on a (small) IMAX screen. The new IMAX theatre in Potomac Mills (Virginia) is on the small side for IMAX. I am lucky to live near Washington, DC where the Smithsonian has several REAL IMAX theaters showing real IMAX productions. I guess I am spoiled :-(
This time they show how arbitrary and asinine our top decision makers are. Clooney plays the nervous sex-crazed idiot to perfection. I never knew Pitt could play a dolt but he does convince us. McDormand; no surprises here -- great as always. The whole cast is great. I think this will become one of those "laugh so you don't cry" classics.
My wife and I were laughing all through the movie. We were both fans of the original TV show. I thought the movie would not be able to compare. I was never so happy to be wrong. I think everyone could enjoy this movie, but I advise the younger set to watch a few old episodes of the TV show. Then, when you hear things like "I missed it by that much" it will be all the funnier.
Indy is getting a little long in the tooth but he's still got it. Harrison Ford acts his age but in great shape for his age. Shia LeBeouf fits right in with his f'amily' tree; Sean Connery and Harrison Ford. He can easily carry the 'Indy' attraction into the next generation. Kate Blanchett's return to the series is refreshing and wonderful. Indy cannot resist her and neither can the viewer.
Lots of action, the bad guys are real bad -- even the girl. The good guys are good but not too good (wink wink).
