This is a blatant attempt to re-make the cult classic Exorcist, but fails miserably in the end. I honestly was expecting to get some good scares, but instead was bombarded with incessant religious references and preaching...All that time spent on trying to preach, could have been spent on improving the story, or making it scarier, or developing a more creative and surprising story, or just try to do a good scary movie...But no, from start to finish, it's "you believe in God or not?", "Does devil exist or not" That's not what makes a scary movie! It just makes you sick of it soon after the movie starts. Anthony Hopkin's performance begins slow, no sparks, then you wait, and wait, and wait, and it just stays "no sparks" throughout the film. The supposed climax of his acting is when he himself is possessed by the devil, but then the most moronic of dialogues totally ruins it, with Hopkins, or the devil, trying to speak like a hip teenager through Hopkins, and ends up looking really embarrassing for Hopkins. What happened to the great actor with great range that we've come to know him as? Well, it's no where to be found or seen in this one. The story just keeps on sucking 'til the very end, then an abrupt turn for the corny, happy ever after ending...WTF?! This is what happens when you try to mess with a classic like Exorcist, you don't and shouldn't. But most farcical of all is the claim that this fictional movie is based on some true events, but just fictionalized...What the heck is that? Does that some how add to the scariness of the movie? No, it just makes you think, how desperate are the film makers of this one to stoop to such lousy, cheesy tactics? What a disappointment, you neither get scared or get entertained, just get very frustrated that you've been sucked into paying your money to only sit through another excessively preachy BS movie about religion.
Donnie Yen is extraordinary once again in this successful sequel to the first major hit of the Ip Man trilogy. If you are expecting just a run-of-the-mill martial arts movie, you will be happy to know this will far surpass your expectations! The story, with some research in Chinese internet, confirms it is mostly true to life, Grand Master Ip Man really did open a martial arts school in Hong Kong, he really did fight with and defeated a western champion boxer, and Bruce Lee did become his pupil. The plot is heartwarming, moving, exciting, inspiring, and enlightening. The martial arts action is superbly choreographed and filmed, so you feel every punch and kick as if you were delivering them, this is the IMAX 3D inside your head and heart without the glasses or the special screen! Good old fashioned top notch martial arts movie! The first major sparring between the various schools of martial arts was just spectacular! And seeing it on big screen is completely different than seeing it on DVD, the big screen makes you feel like you are right there beside the action, watching it up close, something you cannot feel seeing it on a computer screen or at home. It was so exciting and entertaining that I would go back and see it again on big screen before its cinematic release ends. Two thumbs up for this martial arts neo-classic! If you like martial arts movie, you must go see this one on the big screen!
This movie is NOT that complex, the story is very simple, but it tries to make it seem more complex in an attempt to pass off as "sophisticated" by using bizarre, grotesque and ridiculous scenes, purposely confusing the audience, because oh well, we all know good art is hard to understand, right?...This sums up this entire movie: an embarrassing and contrived attempt to hoodwink the audience with very poorly executed telling of a very simple story, the result falls on the side of "ridiculous" rather than "remarkable".
No, I do not recommend this movie.

EVERY man, woman and child should see this movie!!
This movie is too important to be missed by any man, woman or child. It is so well done that you get to see just how blatantly corrupt and incredibly despicable those whole group of men (and women) of Wall Street and Capitol Hill really are. Those who rule our country both financially through the world's largest banks and those with the most powers through their high governmental offices are nothing but the bottom scum of humanity. This movie catches them in their ugly nature doing things their own parents would be too ashamed to acknowledge their own children have become such bane of society, and totally the worst example and models for their own kids, yet they don't even blink when they lie. This movie shows you all of it. Bring the whole family! Must see it while it is timely!
From start to finish, not a cold moment! I honestly had no idea that the story behind FACEBOOK was so sinister and fascinating, and that Harvard old-money students with legacy are such losers and assh*les (actually I had an inkling when my brother was the only child in my family to go to an Ivy League school and became a snob overnight, and looked down on everyone that don't go to Ivy League). The movie lets you feel like and think like its creator, so you go through his journey of from being very cool to becoming a billionaire, while still a nerd and an assh*le. Very very fascinating movie!
This is definitely a movie that will shake you out of your comfort zone and make you examine what you take for granted! Wow! Unlike the other movie with an after-death title that tries to tell you what to think, this movie, "Stone", MAKES you think! I really appreciate films done well like this. Now I appreciate so much more why the title is called STONE, it's not only just Ed Norton's character's nickname, but it's a hint of what we will find in each of the major characters, it's genius! Ed Norton was again at his best, keeps you guessing 'til the end; Deniro is hands-down impeccable in portraying the conflict we all have in us, and his wife is such a tragic character, so sad to be trapped in her superstition that ruined her life. Milla's character is the catalyst and in my opinion the most genuine, honest, and likeable, a free spirit, what we all secretly wish to be but are afraid to most of the time. Great movie! Even the ending is a total surprise, and kind of a mystery...Really really enjoyed it!
I knew it was going to be an action-packed adventure, but I had no idea how funny this movie turned out to be! I love its humor! It left me laughing almost non-stop. And the action was continuous throughout the film too. I really enjoyed it thoroughly! It leaves you smiling and feeling good and a feeling of completely satisfied.
Have you ever felt a happy tingly "high" while watching a movie but without taking any drugs or stimulants? This movie did exactly that for me! I finally watched it in IMAX 3D (I saw it only in 3D when the first one came out), and I was feeling tingly and joyous the entire time of the movie, it's an amazing feeling! Honestly, I don't know which are the added scenes, but who cares! What a roller coaster ride through Pandora! And the story is just so important and so good! (just one note: I watched it at RAVE cinema near LAX, formerly "the Bridge", the IMAX 3D here is inferior to AMC Century 15, which has much better IMAX 3D screen than RAVE)
Shia LaBeouf's acting was pretty bad, just the same headlight-dazed-deer expression throughout the movie, like his other movies, the same expression, no depth, and totally not convincing as a stock broker, more like the stock broker's younger brother pretending to be a stock broker. His girlfrien/fiance in the movie contributed nothing to the film, totally weak and boring. But Michael Douglas shined like he always does, he'll make you love him and hate him and love him again. He's the best! The story is pretty good also.
It's enjoyable, but the plot is predictable, and the animation is...good, not great. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and even that didn't blow me away, just entertaining, but no wow-factor.
