This was a great movie. However, there were some flaws: Dobby show up with Kreacher? (huh?), the whole snatcher thing was different, Kreacher's story is missing (which is important to understand the difference bw Harry & You Know Who), and the wanderings were undetailed (compared to book). Overall though, this was a great movie. Saw it in IMAX--awesome!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is quite possibly the best one in the series. The story follows the book closely. I was on the edge of my seat and so were my friends. Seeing this movie in Imax is also a plus. Having the full screen taken up with images of the wizarding world was absolutely incredible. Anyone who is a fan of Harry, Hermione and Ron will continue to love them as they go through more tough times. I would recommend this movie to anyone who has seen the others and for those who have not, rent the first six and then see this one, it will blow you away.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 is a very good movie! The darkness of the movie blew my expectations out of the water! The minor changes made to make the movie differ from the book were good changes in my opinion, unlike the Prisoner of Azkaban where major changes had been made.
My expectations for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 have been greatly increased by Part 1.
I have seen all of the other Harry Potter movies in theaters, but this time was the best of all. Watching the movie in IMAX made my experience so much better! The better quality, crisper sound, and bigger screen brought me closer and more into the movie than I would have been had I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in the non-IMAX version.

I had such great expectations going into this movie. I knew it was going to be split into two movies....but I just feel so incomplete having watched only the first half.
Overall the movie was still everything I expected. It was made so good, and was very enjoyable.
I do recommend people to watch this. It's better for people who know the book. My husband never saw a Harry Potter movie and didn't understand it at all. Go with someone who knows the books if you can.

Not for children! Rivals LOTR. I'm surprised I'm saying this, but I will not be surprised if this movie is nominated for Best Picture, Director, Cinamotography, Effects, Sound and more. Bravo! The directing was awesome. The scenes flowed seamlessly from one stunning scene to the next. The action is intense and well choreographed. The acting was effortless! The kids have grown up and given us moviegoers quiet a cinematic treat. Warning: not for children!

The movie was enjoyable, I especially liked the explanation of the Deathly Hallows and the fight scenes. It looks like the movie was trying to squeeze in a lot of information for the first half of the book and it looks a little less synchronized. A must for any Harry Potter fan, though.

I enjoyed the previous Harry Potter movies, but this one didn't have the action-packed scenes that the other ones had. I'm assuming since this is Part I of Deathly Hallows that it is just trying to lead up to the final Harry Potter movie/Part II. Although this movie was fine, it seemed like there were a lot of scenes that were drug out for time sake compared to the previous ones.

This first half of the final Harry Potter installment sticks to the original plot much better than the last Harry Potter film (thank heaven). The acting is better than it's ever been, the visual effects are great, and the movie really leaves you with the same emotional effects as the book. One suggestion--save yourself a few bucks and skip the Imax part. Just go see it in digital projection at a smaller theater. This was my first Imax "experience," and I don't plan to do it again. The theater was cramped, and to see the screen well, we had to sit so far back that it really didn't look much bigger than a normal theater screen at that point.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1 was not disappointing. After the long wait I was delighted to see all my favorite characters again. Exciting, sad, thrilling, and moving, this film adds even more depth to the already established characters we've all come to love and loathe. We say farewell to some beloved characters while we say hello to new ones. With excitement at every turn, the 150 minutes flew by! Can hardly wait for Part 2! O.O Is it summer yet?

I thought this movie was absolutely excellent in every respect. I thought the movie itself was constructed beautifully. For anyone who has thought that the Harry Potter franchise was just "kids' stuff", this should totally dispel that theory.
I found the camera shots and the scene edits to be handled very impressively. I particularly loved the "story within a story" when Hermione tells the tale of the Deathly Hallows. I felt that I wasn't taken out of the immediate action, so much as immersed further within the tale.
I also felt that the acting in this film, as a whole, was supremely improved over the other films. Every word, every look was spot on and natural, totally true to each and every character. I particularly thought the 3 primary actors have finally shown that they ARE talented actors in their own right. They didn't just play these characters, they BECAME them. Previously I've found Daniel Radcliffe to be a bit stiled with his acting, but in this film I felt like he showed himself to be a superb actor, worthy of playing this cherished role.
The film completely carried off the tone in the final book as well. This is clearly darker than the early Hogwarts years, and the movie has been very true to that. Every scene in this movie(as, I felt, in the final book) is important and exciting. I felt excited and involved through the entire movie.
I feel this is by far the best of all of the Harry Potter movies in every respect and I can't wait to see it again!

An excellent film. I had just recently reread the book for the 4th time to get the plot fresh in my head.
Noticed a few changes, some things left out, other things put in, but it still was an authentic reproduction of the storyline. Lots of good action and intense drama.
I'm also glad that the makers of this film created it in 2 parts. I had wished someone had done that for the last one, Order of the Phoenix. I think too much was left out of that movie.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have been reading the books since I was about 8. I was really disappointed with the sixth movie compared to how amazing the book was. But i thought the Deathly Hallows followed the book really well. It was amazing to see it in IMAX as well. I cant wait to see part two, and I am seeing it again tomorrow with my little brother!

A very exciting and thrilling movie. I loved it and so did everyone around me dispite the bad-ish reviews it had gotten before the main release. No reson for using the "Port Key" as a kind of get-out-of-jail free card. Once again Harry gets by with help from his friends. Harry seems to get by quite well with the same defensive spells he knows by heart. Dissapoitment that the dragons in the trailer never materalize in this move!! What a let down - thanks hollywood for producing a trailer full of false promises. They thought too far ahead about how to earn money on next film!

"Deathly Hallows pt 1" was a great rebound from the disappointment that was "Half-Blood Prince." Half Blood made big mistakes in changing things unnecessarily and opting to skip the big fight sequence at Hogwarts in the end. Thankfully, Deathly Hallows avoids those mistakes by staying closer to the book and giving us plenty of action throughout. I can't wait for part 2!

This installment of the HP series surely lived up to my expectations as far as keeping true to the book and its epic effects and cinemography. Because the books are so detailed, a few minor plot points have been left out (the same is true for most, if not all, of the other movies). If you haven't read the book, don't worry, as the scenes play out you should be able to understand what's going on. Enjoy!

The critics haven't had too many good things to say, but my children and I loved it. 2 1/2 hrs flew by and left us wanting more. Loved, loved, loved it. Probably wouldn't see it in IMAX again-WAY TOO LOUD- hurt my ears and my sons-actually used earplugs the whole time and still heard everything crystal clear. When it got really loud, it made my chest hurt. The picture was fantastic but we all agreed the audio was too loud. The regular theater is my recomendation-GREAT MOVIE.

An excellent key film of the impending doom to come. Strong dramatic performances by the main 3 actors revealing maturity and the overall depth of what must be accomplished.
Voldemort is his same sinister self. Moments of sympathy are expressed through side characters like Draco, the Weasleys andLuna and Neville.
There was so much to the last book that when viewing you can understand and comprehend why this movie had to be split into two parts.
From tragic deaths to the small journeys that the friends undertake the audience is moved and tense throughout.
Accompanied by a delicate soundtrack and revealing flashbacks to previous films Harry is approaching the end of this saga and nothing but bravery and courage and his friend's love and support will bring triumph.
As a truly generational experience we can not wait to witness the Voldemort and Harry finale.

IMAX version of HP 7 Part 1 was incredible. Pretty faithful adaptation of the book and even allowing for the liberties that filmmakers have to make the stroy flowed well. The ending point was well chosen. The scenes with Dobby were well done and brought tears to the eyes. Not suitable for young children as the characters have grown and the storylines are darker.

Unfortunately, every movie gets more and more watered down. Seems like they left out some important things that will come into play in the final half, unless they've really changed the final half of the last novel too. The IMAX ticket price was absolutely wasted money. The only difference was that the seats were roomier, but that wasn't worth the $7 or $8 extra. I too thought it was going to be 3D because that's what the header was on the ticket purchase page--3D IMAX. Talk about reading the fine print...My bad, but even so it seems like they purposely mislead people. I saw the movie because I've seen all of them and I enjoy the books, the characters and the actors, but the scripts and the movies could be a lot better.

If you've read the books, you'll love every pain-staking moment of the movie. If you haven't, you might lose patience a little but hang in there. It'll be worth it. Great rendition of part 1!
