LOVED it!! It has always been a dream of mine to see The Wizard of Oz on the big screen. You can't really appreciate it any other way. The effects are mind boggling, remembering they are 70 years old!!! I remember the first time I saw color television was in my Uncle's living room watching Oz. When Dorothy opened the door and it became color...WOW! I had the same feeling I did all those years ago!!! Goosebumps!

The 10 minute intro by Angela Lansbury was great. Gave you a little history on the casting and success of the movie 70 yrs ago. Lots of original footage from the opening and the Oscars and cast. The Hi-Def was great as well, not to mention how big the munchkins were on the big screen. Loved it!!

The digital re-mastering of this classic movie was fantastic! This was the first time I saw it on the big screen...commercial free! There were a lot of little things I saw that I've never seen in the 30-40 times I've watched it on TV. And the special effects were just incredible, especially for a movie released in 1939! The Wizard of Oz is simply a classic!

Excellent presentation at the beginning of the history of how the movie was made including casting, special effects, publicity etc.
The movie itself, is of course, timeless for a reason-it has many basic, universal ideas ensconced in a beautifully magical format. Absolutely enchanting and the music is exquisite. Definately not just a children's movie. I've loved it for over 50 years and would see it again anytime! Loved the theater also, despite the high prices of food.

I’ve seen this movie a hundred times. It was the springtime staple for us as kids. But watching it on the big screen with the newly remastered film (HD as the host, Robert Osborne of Turner Classic Movies introduced it), I was amazed to see so many details that I had never noticed. And as soon as I saw the opening credits in front of that black-and-white cloudy sky, I was transported back to that time.
So, if you ever get a chance to see this movie in HD on a big screen with big sound and I hear that you skipped it on purpose, you’re getting your membership in the cool kids club revoked. I just may come to your house and rip the medal off your chest, reclaim your testimonial and tear up your diploma.

The W of Oz will always hold a special place in my heart. The AMC/IMAX theater in Rosedale, MN will NOT. During the b&w portion of the movie, a DVR window popped up and left the movie with a weird purple tint. After entering Oz, the movie froze, and the management let us know they were going to do a power cycle to see if they could get rid of the tint. (I didn't even notice it at that point.) We received free tickets, but still. I enjoyed how you could hear some of our audience sing along with the movie and a few children clapped when the witch melted. Then, the theater didn't bring the lights up and everyone basically exited in the dark. To see it on the big screen was great, but the theater's lack of organization really ruined it.,

What a great time! Neither of us had ever seen the movie on the big screen even though we've been watching on TV since we were very young. We both realized there were little things in the movie we had never noticed before. Only problem was at the end when there was no AMC Studio 30 staff to turn on the lights until about 10 minutes after the movie was over. Fortunately, I carry a small LED flashlight in my purse. Other than that, it was way awesome to see this classic in the big theatre.

We watched the entire movie with a wide purple streak down the middle of it. The theater passed out free movie pass to everyone and then forgot to turn the lights on after the movie was over. I would have enjoyed the movie more if it weren't for the purple streak streak distracting me the entire movie. I won't go back to that theater ever again.

When you see it on the big screen you realize again how great this movie is. The originality of Ray Bolger's Dancing Scarecrow; the special effects which stand up even against today's computer graphics. And the wonderful evil of Margaret Hamilton who would strike terror in Hannible Lector.

The Wizard of Oz is a classic. There's no need for a review. Instead I want to review the nightmare of an experience I had at the theater, which was the AMC WOODLANDS SQUARE 20 in OLDSMAR, FLORIDA. It was a case of "no one watching the store". First, when the event started, they had the wrong audio playing. Audience members had to run out and tell the theater staff what was going on. Where was the projectionist? Then when the movie ended, no one ever turned the lights on. There were many elderly and parents with young kids who could not see where they were going to exit the theater. The ineptitude of this theater's management and staff made this Fathom event a horrible, frustrating experience. I doubt I would ever attend one again!

It was wonderful to see The Wizard of Oz on the big screen. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I took my children with me and it was wonderful--they both loved it and none of us will forget the experience. The short documentary at the beginning giving behind the scenes information was terrific too.

Movie was awesome. The restoration and HD made the movie. I caught more color and words in the film than ever before. It was wild watching the movie without a commerical break. Only negative, they should have a matinee for the kiddies and a later version for the adults who don't want to listen to the crying and parents explaining all the dialogue. Plus this movie can be scaring for very young children. so parents use your brain, you can't fast forward the scary parts. But overall, excellant.

I took my daughter last night to see this magnificent film. She started in awe of the majestic colors and sweet sounding voice of Judy Garland. This was a real treat to be lucky enough to see such a classic in the theatre. Now her generation will have the opportunity to say they were able to see this in the theatre. I can't wait to see this again on the 100th Anniversary!
