This was an inspiring movie . . . makes you want to push your limits, the goal of the race director. Excellent photography, beautiful, tough, painful, exhilarating course. The music was well put together, giving a sense of energy, of the pain, the excitement and the suffering. Between everything, I felt the pain of the director in turning away his buddy who did not make the cut-off, the excitement at the beginning of the race and even by those who were at the top of Columbine getting beat by hail but having a blast. Through the experience I found myself rooting for David Wiens, though a huge Lance fan. I definitely recommend this movie to any insane outdoor fitness enthusiast . . . or anyone willing to go down this crazy road. Cheers!

I think this movie is fun and interesting for avid cyclists or above. But for the casual watcher (i.e. my girlfriend who is not a 'cyclist') the movie didn't offer much in the way of intrigue or excitement. You might say 'no kidding'... But shouldn't one of the goals have been to appeal to non-cyclists on some level as well?

The race footage is very exciting. The pace and sequencing is good. Beautiful, rugged Colorado scenery and daunting race course conveys the extreme challenge and the emotion of the event. I came out of the theatre compelled to go try it.

It was a great movie! I've done many long distance mtn bike events and the Soul Ride 100 miler down by Tucson years ago and it totally brought back all the memories. The movie did a great job of showing what its like to do one of these events. I have to get out and do some more of these races again!

Great film that documents the heart and soul of racing at altitude. You get to meet great personalities and heart warming locals. The challenge and competition are highlighted in the race between Lance and Dave. All cyclists would enjoy this one.

Amazing race, scenery, and athletes! I really got a feel for what it must be like to race at Leadville after reading about it since former TdF winners (OK 1 winner and 1 DQ'd winner) started showing up in 2007. Would have liked to see more on the everyday racers who were walking up the climbs and the locals who created the race to help save their town after the mine closed, but maybe that's a another movie.
Only detraction was that the sound quality was a little off - hard to hear the commentary, but that might have been a problem at the theater where I saw it since I didn't see that mentioned on other reviews.

Great movie. it was nice to know more about the event. I understand the movie was put together rather quickly, but I would like to have seen more footage on the background of the riders - like they do for the Ironman. It was great to see riders that have done it for the 15 yrs and still love it. I could have done without the panel discussion; I love Lance, but this movie is not about him.

Thank Goodness a friend told me about this movie at the last minute. It was a great movie and definately one to see on the big screen. I am a huge Lance fan but was pleasantly surprised that the movie was more about the Ride itself than the people in it. Very inspirational.

This movie was visually excellent. It definetely showed the visceral side of mountain biking without glamourizing the gore. The sound quality was terrible. The music (which was fitting for an action movie) drowned out the spoken words of participants and commentators during the race. I think hearing what they had to say would have greatly enhanced the film. If the sound had been better balanced, I would have given 5 stars.

Very good film. Inspiring and moving qualities cause you to want to go out and do something big. Did not give it five stars becasue I felt that the film concentrated on the leaders to much. Although they did touch on several of the "ordinary" riders and their stories, they cold have included more. I also felt that they could have shown more of the real race - crashes, mechanical issues and such.

Great movie it gave a good view of what the riders had to endure to make the 100 mile trip. It's not a race for most, but a challenge that can be looked back on and proclaimed "I did that". Everyone I saw leaving the movie was smiling.

there is so much more to the leadville 100 than lance armstrong. don't get me wrong, he is a great cyclist but the reason this race is so huge is because of the people that are in the middle of the pack and further back. could have been a better movie without all the armstrong hype. should have focused more on what has made this race what it is today, not the commercialized race that it will be in the future.

The commentary from the panel of directors and participant winners (including Lance) is a nice added touch. When I see movies like this I'm seeking inspiration and a tug at the heart saying to myself, "I wonder if I could do that!" This movie is good for adults and kids because it demonstrates excellent sportsmanship while still being one of the most competitive events in the nation. Go see it!

I thought this movie was superbly done. It was inspirational for cyclists, other athletes and anyone who has ever faced a seemingly insurmountable challenge. As a Lance fan I obviously loved watching him set a course record as he hammered relentlessly, but I equally loved the stories of others in the race like the woman who had been nearly killed by a car training for the race. She not only survived but finished the race this year - unbelievable. Additionally, the cinematography was excellent and was what initially caught my attention when I watched the trailer on line. If this comes out on DVD I will certainly buy it!

But why Bob Roll as the narrarator??? This is a unique film that shows the grit of the athletes and the wildness and danger of the trail against the beauty of the peaks and valleys surrounding Leadville. I agree with other reviews that less Lance (who I love, mind you) and more personal interest stories would have made it even more poignant. By the reaction from the audience I was in, the most moving scenes had nothing to do with Lance. The most visually stunning scenes, though, show Lance racing in a setting and style that most people have never seen - giving his incredible gift yet one more dimension. And while I love the Bobke - he was, in my opinion, the wrong choice to narrarate this film. It needed a stronger, more evocative voice.

I thought this movie got all the points across that it intended and then some. It was an inspiring movie. It showed 1st hand how difficult this event was, and the fortitude the participants had. It made me want to get in even better physical/mental shape so I could hope to take part in this event some day. All the individual stories were awesome. Definitely recommended.
