I am a huge movie buff, but this movie blew me away. I have always wondered what it must have been like to see what is not a classic, like "The Wizard of Oz" or "West Side Story" on screen when it was first released. I think I finally know! It was a fast moving story, that kept you on the edge of your seat! I LOVED it!

Avatar is outside the realm of any typical movie i have watched. While the plot is simple and predictable it actually made it a great escape and fun to watch. When the movie was over it seemed as though i had only been watching a few minutes when in fact it had been 3 hours! Wow! While the action was never ending it wasn't forced but seemed to be a natural part of the story line an i credit the special effects and the realism of the Avatars and their world. I haven't been back to see a movie twice in 30 years but i went back to see this one again two days later!

Great, great movie!! Special affects are extraordinary, of course. Expected excellence and I got it from start to finish. My grandson came with me to see it and I thought he had fallen asleep he was so still but he didn't, he watched the whole thing... and he's six and doesn't sit still for much. Have to see it at the movie theater and in 3D. Will lose alot on DVD.

Was expecting a great movie because of all the hype. Some cool special effects but the 3D wasn't that amazing and the storyline was completely predictable. And how is it humans have space travel but have weapons that seem so low-tech? If they're worried about bad press, where were the reporters?

Beautifully made movie, great experience. Disappointed in simple common plot. Good to see that the damage that unrestricted corporations do is highlighted, but the solution of outdoing the violence of the mercenaries is untenable. Also, this is not just a problem of the future, mercenaries for Canadian gold mining companies are now killing many anti-mining activists in El Salvador.

We arrived JUST as the movie began, realized there were not 2 seats together and so for three hours sat on balcony stairs and watched the entire movie. I would have NEVER lasted 15 minutes if this had been any other movie...but Avatar had us glued (or was it stuck) to our "seats". We were stunned is all I can say...I have not been able to get the movie out of my mind and unable to stop telling everyone that they MUST see this if they only see ONE movie this new year. Kudos to James Cameron...this is your finest hour!

If your into "Lord of the Rings" or "Star Trek"....this is your film to see....otherwise for those of us that would like a plot and some drama to go along with a storyline (a little more human....), this was very weak. I know its year 2154, but c'mon there could have been a little more story behind this "so-called" military mission. The 3D was nice however...save the money and just go to the 2D version....

I was expecting much more with all the hype. Some of the 3D was good but overall just average. The story line did not produce any Wow moments, just typical good vs. evil with good winning out. If you are not thrilled to see on a IMAX 3D screen wait for the DVD.

Yes, 3-D is fun, and this film created an awesome new visual world, but it falls short of being a great, or even good, movie. Lord of the Rings had poignant dialogue and character development--Avatar comes no where close. Aliens had a dark, frightening moody drama-- Avatar had no such subtlety or richness (at least of I and II) . The visuals don't make up for shallow dialogue and predictable plot, including the transparent political agenda.
Didn't anyone else find the "joining" of the Avatar and animal a little creepy?

I went to see Avatar on New Year's Eve, went all in as far as Lux Level, dinner, etc....and I was not disappointed. It was an experience, beyond just movie-going. The 3-D cinematograhpy was out of this world and fantastic. Whatever plot limitations there were, I felt the overall experience more than made up for it. I'm recommending as "must see"....(in 3-D and preferably IMAX if possible) to all my friends. If you're not inclined to sci-fi type stuff, do yourself a favor and give this a try.!

This is truely a cinematic event, especially in 3D, no doubt the best 3D release I've seen to date. The 3D was so natural and that the viewer is not even aware of it after a few minutes, other than it seems like THIS is what movies are supposed to look like. It lacked the flashy look-this-is-3D shots that are prominently featured in most 3D releases, instead using the technology to immerse the viewer in a magical wonderland of nature and the ways and relationships of creatures there.
There is no deep story or complicated plot here though, the simplicity of which is surprising considering the rest of the effort and the sacharine Saturday morning cartoon ending is a little disappointing.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE!
My husband and I have seen it twice now, paying for and taking other family members to it!
It draws you right in, delighting you and enthralling you with the wondrous world that James Cameron created! Good vs evil, where the good is truly good and the bad is surprisingly VERY bad! Movie magic at it's best!
GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE IN THE THEATER AND ESPECIALLY IN 3D as you will feel a part of this world! It is worth every penny spent! I cannot wait to see it again!

I would recommend this movie to families with all ages of children and adults alike! It is very long but you dont realize how long it is because every scene keeps you wrapped up in the action!
