I resisted going to this movie as long as I could since (with the exception of Star Trek and Wars which are classics)...I generally dislike sci fi movies....and in the first few minutes of the movie I wondered why I fell for the hype, until Jake got his new Avatar "legs".....so moved by the beauty of this story I'm going to paint myself blue! Well done on so many levels, no wonder it took 12 years to make it! Perfection. I recommend you go without knowing the story line, it's better that way, just sit back and enjoy it.

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. If you are gonna see this movie it has GOT to be in 3D. No motion sickness, no strain on the eyes...It is like you are IN the movie. The storyline is amazing as well, James Cameron is a genius. How greed can make or break a culture and a message of how WE humans are treating Mother Earth. The love story is touching as well...had me tearing up a couple times. A must see for any SCI FI fan or anyone else who wants a 3D joy ride of fun, excitement, and romance.

Endorsing a blockbuster isn't something I'll do often, but Cameron got this one right. Visually stunning, with a grand mythic plot we'll sit through over and over, and very few false notes. If you grew up reading sci-fi paperbacks and made it to this golden age of animation, it is pure pleasure to watch another world envisioned this well. The physics of Pandoran geology are pretty questionable, but the motion in the flight scenes is believable without quite inducing vertigo even in 3D. Yeah, go see it.

The technology in Avatar 3D is spectacular, but the film, itself, totally lacks imagination. The film is nothing but a remake of every good guy / bad guy film made in the past 100 years, with every cliched special-effects explosion worked into the mix. This movie blew my mind. I was very skeptical about it and I had no idea how the story line would be but it rocked my world. I would have to say this is one of the best movies I ever watched in my life! You cant tell the difference between CG and real life. Definitely go see it in 3D!

I've been waiting so long for this. This is the best science fiction film produced in many years. It actually has a story...I didn't leave the film feeling: "I just watched two hours of gratuitous violence with dumb junior-high level dialogue and humor. What a waste of time!"
The film actually has a classic love story in it. Yes, it is all Hollywood with all of Hollywood's exaggerations. I could barely tell I was watching digitally animated characters. James Cameron should be honored ten times over for this one....now he just needs to work on his temper and cliche final battles with the chief villain.

I took my son to see Avatar and boy what an experience. The 3-d glasses made parts of the show come up so close you felt like you could reach out an touch them.

Neither my fiance nor I had any desire to see this movie. However, literally every where we went people were talking about it and asking if we had seen it. Reluctantly, we agreed to watch it to see what the buzz was all about and were astoundingly surprised. It was captivating. It had the unique ability to seem realistic despite its implausibility, and it completely pull you into the story. It really is wonderful and the stereoscopic 3-D took it to a whole new level. The only negative comment I can leave is the acting left much to be desired, but the film itself more than makes up for it.

An absolutely stunning visual feast; Cameron was given the technology (and budget) to create a breathtaking world that you have to see.
The film has several overtly political moments (i.e., thinly veiled references to preemptive war & Iraq) that soured things for me and many in the audience--there were audible groans when some of the dialogue came up. These side rants run the risk of depriving the movie of ‘timeless’ status.
However, setting that aside, it is STILL a must see. I don't care if you're a genre fan or just a general moviegoer: see this movie. It is a remarkable experience and presages--I think--the arrival of a whole new class of movies in 3-D--it feels like we've finally 'arrived' at this new generation of cinema!

This was a very cool movie visually - but the anti government political references were endless and the whole story line was Pocohontas. As soon as you realize this you know everything that is going to happen. Why would DIsney let Cameron steal the story line so blatantly... and why didn't any professional reviewers write this before I paid $14.00 to see it. The Soul Tree knows what you did James Cameron! Bottom line: I liked it.

Once again, James Cameron brought me to another world where you experience a great adventure. He took us back in Titanic and now into the future w/ Avatar. One word, "Outstanding!" The Cinedine experience really made more enjoyable, because I'm a first-timer. Personal seating and eating in a movie theater--awesome!

I expected the story line to be offensive to pro-American conservatives and it delivered on that abundantly.... Marine hurt fighting for his country looses the use of his legs, and there is a cure but 'of course the VA isn't going to pay for that....'. The straw-man villain character is so shallow and one dimensional, it was laughable. Setting the offensive story line aside (at one point my wife who is much less conservative than I asked if I wanted to walk out?), the movie was not that impressive in its use of CGI and other 'movie magic'. Certainly nothing we haven't seen before. The 3D really was not utilized to any effect at all. Save your time and your money, this movie is worth neither!

ok here we go this move is an amazing move i first saw it be 4 in no imax but i must say it was good normal but imax is just... WOW! the plot is rather close to dances with wolfs but i like this better. if u have not seen it get in the car right now and go see it. if ur going to go get there early to get goos seets. i mean imax has a huge screen but if ur in the middle its like all around u its truly amazing im going bck as soon as i can and u should too. also this is a great movie 4 teens.
