After 15 minutes I thought I was watching Aliens. The first thing i did when I got home was check IMDB to see if James Cameron had a hand in both. Very much so. Marines-check, scientists-check, greedy corporate types-check. Strange and dangerous land-check, angry tough Latina marine - check. And of course, Sigourney Weaver. They even had her vehicle/walker thing from Aliens. But alas an amazing movie. Visually stunning and with a compelling story. Best installment of the Alien series yet...

My family recently saw Avatar in 3D and we all really enjoyed it! The story was really good and the graphics were out of this world. It's amazing what they can do with comptuer graphics now, I couldn't even tell the difference between that and real life actors!! My 5 year old loved it as well, even though she cried at certain parts because they were sad. I would highly recommend this as a famliy film!

I can't believe how long I waited to go see this movie. The scenery was awesome, the story was great and you had to feel happy for the main character who gets to walk again through his avatar. I would have loved to be able to ride one of those winged lizards or just wander through Awya. I will go see it again but I think this time I have to see it on the IMAX screen.

While the story line was a standard "civilized man steals from natives", albeit well done, the animation was so realistic I couldn't tell the real actors from the animated ones.
The 3D was so well done I found myself swatting flies and ducking incoming objects.

Based on the age old fight of the natives trying to preserve their way of life and their home, this movie was taken a step above with the 3D and the elaborate imagery. A little bit for everyone - a love story, the battle element, science/science fiction and the "happy ending". The presentation in this movie really immerses you into the world/action, making you forget sometimes it is not real. There was some acting (parts) that are too much (over done), but on the whole a really good movie.

When you look on the ticket and see the run time on this movie you say oh, jeez thats kind of long, and well its animated? hmm
This movie is BIG its the only way to put it-its sweet and lovely and horrible and sad it takes you on a ride.
Its the best movie I have ever seen. The actors were perfect the special effects were out of this world. I was totally sucked in and I didn't want to leave. Lots of handkerchiefs came out. If you can detach yourself from reality and just get consumed by this story and effects of this magnitude you will leave the theater in a trance. bravo bravo bravo

Cameron makes elaborate movies with simple themes and certainly doesn't miss the mark here. The same story told over and over again (indigenous people run off their land for the sake of the almighty dollar) is re-told yet again, but this time in a vibrant and beautiful other world, the likes of which the silver screen has not seen before. Some of the acting is over-the-top, but overall the film is worth seeing in 3D. You might think about waiting to see it on blu-ray if you have a a high-end setup.

I really loved the movies special effects. Although the movie did drag on towards the end the computer enhancedment was great. The 3D part of it didn't thrill me, haven't really been a great big fan of 3D. Worth the money if you love special effects and fantastic computer digitization.

This is the second time we went to see this film. The casting was perfect. The actors did a fantastic job. Special effects were out of this world.At the end of the movie we didn't want to leave we wanted more.We went to Marcus theater in Elgin and bought the tickets under the impression it was on the ultra screen.Sadly to say they said they took it off. My daughter and grandson were devistated as well as my wife and myself. That was the only reason we went to see it a second time was to experience the movie on the big screen.But all in all we still had a good time.
