I knew this movie's theme (environmental protection and deification of Mother Earth) and the story line (indigenous people good, white people bad); neither drew me to the movie. I wanted to experience the 3D technology.
I have motion sickness but yesterday my curiosity got the better of me. To the film maker's credit I got caught up in the experience, not realizing until after the movie was over that I had not gotten sick!
Cameron has created a wonderfully realistic science fiction epic. I was impressed with his movie-making skills and vision. He didn't go for 3D’s shock value. Rather, he used the medium to show us what is possible when 3D is in the hands of a master director.
Overall my experience was better than anticipated.

Defenetely will go and see it one more time in Imax 3d experience. From the moment you sit down till the end you forget what world you live in and get in tune with this parallel realm of beauty and power. You become more aware of what our destructive ways are doing to mother nature. The good and the evil in battle for similar resources yet for different reasons. At times we forget to close our eyes and feel just like the Navi do. Absolutely breathtaking and it touches your soul. Highly recommended, a must see movie more than once at the movie theater.

Coming from someone that had no desire to see this movie, I cannot recommend it highly enough. You become immersed in this world that is so vividly portrayed and intricately designed. Great story line and state of the art electronics...an award winner. NEGATIVE comment. The world that dislikes the United States will use the significant "distortion" of US corporate and military morality against us. Sometimes the movie industry is more interested in making money through sensational technical accomplishments, than projecting the true strong moral character of the vast majority of US citizens, the US military, and US corporate America.

All four of us (adults) loved this film and talked about it for an hour afterward. Wonderful, creative imaginations worked overtime to populate Planet Pandora. The people, animals, plants and habitats are stellar! The action is non-stop and will have you on the edge of your seat. A long movie at 2 hours, 40 min., but so entertaining the time seemed to fly by. You can bet on a sequel and we can't wait to see what happens next!

I saw the 3D version of this film last night after seeing the regular version on opening night. I thought the 3D added to the immersion but was a nice to have rather than a must have. The film itself is amazing. The pace is such that you have no idea that you're watching is pushing three hours. the characters are believable with only a smattering of poor dialogue. Not enough can be said about the beautiful scenery of Pandora. They serve as a stunning backdrop for the battle scenes that make this movie as wild a ride as you'll see in 2010.

This is a must-see-in-3D movie. It is very immersive with beautiful graphics. The CGI is so well done, you can hardly detect the transitions. While the plot is predictable, you still wonder how they are going to work it out.
I would have preferred less violence so that it would be more suitable for children to see, but I'm looking forward to a sequal.

I find the movie Avatar a bit overrated, for the following reasons:
1. Story line was unoriginal ( save the day etc...) 2. Predictable 3. Somewhat sappy at times.
However, the special effects were great, if you are in to that sort of thing. I perfer real movies, interesting throught provoking story lines and great actors.

While it was no Titanic Avatar had me completely captivated from the beginning. The fact that James Cameron can't help from being a larger than life directore actually adds to this film. I really enjoyed it.

A beautiful film from beginning to end, I would highly recommend this movie. It is a timeless, classic story in which one race believes it is superior over another because of differences in ideals and technology. To me, it is the story of America and any other country in which indigenous peoples are thought of as savages because of their connection to the "Mother."
I waited to see this film because I was not sure the film would live up to the hype; I was pleasantly surprised and found myself very emotionally involved with the characters because of their development within the story.
Graphics, film quality, pure magic is unsurpassed! Thank you.
