I get that all of you LOVE this movie, but I think you're dazzled by the special effects. It's a very, very old story. Think Custer's Last Stand as a story line and how many times has that been done in the movies? I think I would have thought better of it had it not been so long and so drawn out and he never fleshed out the true enemy -- the corporate guy. He stuck with something too obvious -- the army guy. It's trite. It's old. It's just okay. Go for special effects only because the story just isn't there.

I watched the 3-D version and it was beyond fantastic. The visualizations were fantastic! It almost felt like I was on Pandora. the story line was good, but the cinematography was spectacular! I would pay full price and see it again.

It took me about 15 minutes to get used to the 3D glasses, but beyond that I was completely drawn in to this fantastic movie. It is magical and exciting and emotional and one of the best movies I have ever seen. I would recommend it to anyone who like good story lines and action and beautiful cinema.

I fell in love with the Na'vi people. They way Cameron depicted this race to truly show how we humans can't see life around us. We should all be crushed when a single tree gets knocked down. We truly cannot see. The emotions the people had on their faces was incredible. I felt connected to every character in the movie. Great movie in 3d. 3d technology has come a long ways..finally it's done right. It's not over the top in your face 3d. It only serves to amplify the beauty of Camerons work.

Avatar is a work of vision and genius. I saw it in 3D and sometimes took glasses off to see how it looked. The 3D was not abused as is so often the case and I think the movie will play nearly as well in 2D.

The plot wasn't really anything special, no surprises here. But the cinematography was top notch and the graphics were superb. This is without a doubt the best looking 3D film ever. Sometimes 3D is over done. This was just right. And it just worked. I guess the tech has also gotten better. In the past, the only 3D that worked well for me was spectroscopic.

This movie was so enjoyable. Even my seven year old loved it. The story is engaging and the special effects enhance the story and don't get in the way. The only criticism is that I think the 3D was unnecessary and the 3D glasses were uncomfortable.

...little animated movie from the 90's called "ferngully" and just expand wildly using today's technology...or am I the only person who has noticed this? Ferngully theft aside, this was a wonderful story, timely and , hopefully, thought provoking, about taking everything we want, or think we need, at any cost. The most beautiful colors and imagery I have ever had the pleasure of seeing on the big screen, greatly enhanced by 3d! Perhaps an old tale retold, but a new visual masterpiece.

This was my first 3d movie experience and I could not have picked a better movie, I'm hooked. I don't care about story, plot, etc. Give me a good action movie and I'm set. It's "Dances With Wolves" in moslty animated format. The animation work was unparalleled, and the special effects well above average. But in the end, this movie was a simple fantasy tale, earily similar to Kevin Costner's native American saga. I was underwhelmed. I never really liked Saturday morning cartoons either.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
