The plot is good and interesting. The technology and filming is incredible, but the final battle scene went on for 40 minutes when we already knew who would win. Come on, seriously, a 40 minutes scene? Boring. The last hour was too predictable. Too much war, battle scenes, etc. for me.

What a great piece of entertainment! The world of Pandora is so cohesively designed and envisioned that one is soon unaware of the 3d glasses and the theater and is sucked into an alien existence. With the exception of the bad military leader guy, the characters are sympathetic and believable. Engaging story and a lot of fun.

This movie was so entertaining. Not just the technology that was used to create this film. It has a great story line(of course, a love story underneath it all) but great action as well. All actors were perfect. It has beautiful backdrops that were imaginative. It spoke a lot about how we(people) are truly one with the earth.

Not only were the special 3D effects amazing, but the movie draws you in until you are transported and become part of the world. The characters were not some animated voiced over animations, but real beings with real expressions. If I had to use one word to describe this movie it would be "Powerful." Excellent cinematographic presentation which looks even better in 3D. Esp the ecosystem created on the new planet takes you to a different world. The concept is new and good. The best part was the ending. But the story line is very weak right from the beginning. Sam Worthington's entry in the Avatar project is very abrupt. Human characters are very weak and the story line drifts away. It is stretched too much and gets boring at some instances esp the chemistry between the couple is very unromantic and is stressed too much. Overall a good movie and one should watch it for the screenplay and the graphics. If you want a good story and a cerebral/inspirational movie this one is not for you!

This movie was incredible! Even though it was 2 hrs and 40 min long I never moved, I did not want to miss one minute. It was a feast for the eyes and mind. The scenes in the forest were full of life and light, there were no dark scenes at all. It will captivate and enthrall you with its culture and atmosphere. Great premise and one step beyond any other scifys.

Forget the over used plot device, forget the the musical score. What I took away from AVATAR was a sense of wonder and awe that lept off the screen with a cacophony of visuals. A half hour into the film I had to tell myself that the world James Cameron created was not real, because it was so beautiful and intricate. 3D is the way to go to watch this film. Some might say the plot is simplistic and the characters a bit shallow. I might agree if I felt the point of this movie was to change our world view. We go to museums to see works of art and this is just what this movie was. Why do men climb mountains? Because they can. Why did James Camron make Avatar? Because he could. My wife and I went to see what all the interest was in this movie. Visuals were nothing short of spectacular, not a deep plot, but full of action. However, the using of God's name for cursing should not happen. If Hollywood cleaned it up just a little more, I'd consider seeing it twice.

I took my son's age 5 and 8 to this movie and we all enjoyed it. The movie I think was like two and half hours long and it kept my boy's captivated the whole two and half hours. There was times in the movie when my eight year old was reaching out to grab things and my youngest son had to remove his glasses just to make sure he saw what was seeing the 3D graphics was that illustrious. This movie has reached a higher level of movie graphics that I hope to see more of.

Went with my wife and 11-year old son. We all really enjoyed this movie. It was filled with exciting action and the special effects were absolutely great. The storyline was predictable and PC-preachy, but we are used to that and so for us it doesn't detract from the enjoyment. The only real disappointment for was the amount of profanity. I didn't feel it was necessary. I realize this is not a "kids movie" but they are marketing this to kids and so should have kept it much cleaner. I heard a few people coming out of the movie complain about how much violence there was, but I didn't think it was terrible. I'd recommend it to others and would see it again.

This wasn't a movie, it was an experience. The 3D visual effects were incredible and should not be missed on the big screen. We have long awaited the release of this film and were not disappointed. Our children (6,8,and 10) were enrapt from beginning to end. Not even a request for more soda or popcorn, and that says a lot. I would pay to see it again.

The strangest feeling overcame me after my first of what are sure to be many viewings of Avatar yesterday. On the drive home from the film, reality suddenly seemed dull and boring in spite of a beautiful sunset all around me. I felt as the character Jake felt in the movie after his exit from his Avatar, drained and disoriented, yet with an ache to return to the jungles of Pandora. Was this a "movie"? I am still trying to figure it out. It was that amazing. I was trying not to use that word but its the closest one I can think of to describe something I have never seen or felt. Avatar is an incredible accomplishment of human imagination on a level never achieved to date. I'm jealous of all those who get to experience it for the first time.

What is the big deal? I predicted the "plot twist" and end of the movie 20 minutes in. It was at least 30 minutes too long and entirely uninspired. Granted, the graphics and cinematography were spectacular and is worth watching on the big screen just for the sheer beauty of it all. Acting was strong, cgi unparalleled, and 3d effects breathtaking. It's just an overused, insipid story line.
