I can't wait to see it again! I had no problem suspending my disbelief in this universe.
After two minutes I stopped looking for the CG and just sat back and enjoyed the ride.
Cameron is a perfectionist and it shows in every frame. Acting was great. Visuals were outstanding!
I was happy to see Richard Taylor and the geniuses at WETA invloved as well because I loved LOTR...
Bravo and thanks for giving me twice as much movie for the price!

This movie will be remembered for years to come. This is a fantastic journey through the imagination of a genius writer. The 3D feature was a bit of a turn-off for me initially as I hate being restricted by gadgets on my face or head. However, after the first 5 minutes I forgot about the glasses and everything else around me and sank deeply into the richness of the sights, sounds and characters - both human and alien. My only knock was the "kind noble alien folk against the big bad American military guys" cliche was a bit hokey - if not unpatriotic. But, just as I was starting to dwell on that point, I was once again pulled back into this exciting, mind-tingling story. Certainly my favorite movie this year!

Avatar is a shimmering masterpiece of a movie. It is in many respects one of the greatest works of art produced by man to date. The level of creativity anticipates potential futures as well as leads the way in terms of what CGI can teach us.
The screenplay is adequate to the task. It is definitively "Dances With Wolves" and yet is indeed far more complex in terms of its connection to an GAIA hypothesis. The film anticipates an Eden and describes mans desecration of that Eden. It suggests that are sins will travel with us through time and in the film resonates wisdom.
A great film.

I was disappointed.For a 3D movie,it was very one dimensional.The story followed well worn storylines and themes.It basically played like very costly environmentalist appeal.Some of the flora effects were very pretty but the characters were boring.The noble savages vs the evil foolish conquerors...and visually,it wasn't any more impressive than my old view master.My verdict: schlock and no awe.

i wasn't totally stoked about seeing another near 3-hour movie, but my kids and parents wanted to go. so we took the snow day off to go see AVATAR in 3D...well, UNEXPECTEDLY AWESOME! i thought the story-line and plot were great (even if it is a recycled concept) and the 3D was phenomenal. i cried several times (as did my father!) my young kids wouldn't even get up for a bathroom break--we all loved it!

How much did I like this movie? Enough to take the time to write this and tell anyone that will listen that it was fantastic. Admittedly, the plot was a bit thin. Admittedly there are some technicalities of the war that aren't realistic. However, it is a Sci-Fi movie...as in FICTION. I've read reviews based on people taking it too seriously. Go, enjoy, don't expect Gone With The Wind. Take it for what it's intended to be and it will take your breath away.

At first I wasn't to sure of the 3D tech but after watching this movie, I'm sold. First the movie itself was outstanding. The storyline was amazing as well as the visuals. There was a perfect mix of love, action and spirituality. Then thrown in the 3D aspect of the film and WOW... Seeing this in 3D added to a great movie and opened the door wider to the future of movies. I hope that the sequels live up to this one. Well done James Cameron... Welcome back to the big screen.

This was my first time watching in the new 3D format... It was great! The movie was excellent and the way the 3D was set up was good also. I would recommend this to anybody who has not ever seen it in this way, it give the movie an extra edge!
