While this genere of movie is pretty much a formulaic one it takes good acting and a good story for each on to stand out, and this movie does just that. Amanda is an excellent actress, which surprised me because I only remember her from Mean Girls.
I loved the overall story and the simplicity of the romance. The touching of generations was especially beautiful because it helped form the basis for the story. A second chance at love.
It was funny, romantic, visually appealing and enjoyable. It went fast! I loved how it made fun of itself too...that was just the perfect touch.

This movie is great for all audiences although it leans more towards the ladies. Amanda Seyfried, as usual, was a great actress and played her role as Sophie very well. The movie itself was wonderful, I thought it had a great stroy line, scenary, and plot. The scenes were beautuful and not to mention, a pretty funny movie too. There were quite a few comedic moments in there. Not only do you end up rooting for Lorenzo and Claire, but also Sophie and Charlie. So why a B+? well the movie towards the middle, sort of made me want to speed it up a little. This wasn't a big deal, but something that bothered me a bit. Overall, a great movie, and one of Amanda Seyfried's better movies. A MUST SEE!!

So, you are warned that the movie is a chic flick and then you go to see it to find out that that is very true!! The girls behind me, in front of me and even next to me were all "oooooh'ing and "ahhhhhh"ing and then there were those super adorable "AWWWWWW" moments, which would leave any guy with a stomach full of vomit.
The story in itself isn't bad, don't get me wrong, it was just not made for a male audience.
It is sweet, romantic and inspiring, yet, fully unsatisfying to me. I walked out so fast from this World Premiere at the Chinese Theater (yes, I did sit through to the very end), not caring whether Amanda Seyfried was being photographed and all the fancy limousines were waiting in front of the theater.
So, guys.... you have been warned.
Ladies.... YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE!!!

It was cute. Seeing Vanessa Redgrave & Nero Franco together reminded me of Camelot. When he was Lancelot & she Queen Guinevere.
The difference was that then she left Richard Harris for Nero; here she waited to go back to Nero.
As for Amanda Seyfried; the fact that character name was Sophie, didn't help strip of her "Mamma Mia" Sophie character.
Over all it was cute and girlie - wouldn't recommened it but for a fairy tale afternoon with your daughter its perfect.

Amanda Seyfried as Sophie is beautiful when the movie starts in New York and remains lovely as she travels to Italy with her chef fiance for a pre-honeymoon. In Verona, she becomes an ad hoc Secretary for Juliette Capulet, responding to a long-lost letter about a missed love connection. Her response sparks a romantic adventure. Unlike Romeo and Juliette, which involved an against-the-odds doomed love, this movie takes on a theme better suited to romantic comedy--finding the right mate.
The unfortunate aspect of the movie is that Seyfried has great screen chemistry with Gael Garcia Bernal, who plays her supportive but distracted fiance Victor, while she rarely connects with Christopher Egan, slated to be her "true love", Charlie. A clever writer could create a worthy sequel where she dumps the shallow Charlie and re-unites with her true true love, Victor. What a pair of movies that would be!
Despite this flaw, the film is entertaining with several tearjerking moments. Plus, my wife and I couldn't resist going out for Italian food afterward, so I recommend seeing it before dinner, rather than after!

Letters to Juliet was amazing. I knew that it was going to be a love story but I had no idea how funny the movie was going to be also. The comedy is not overpowering, but strategically placed. The casting was perfect, the setting made me feel like I was in Italy. It made me want to fall in love. Excellent film, GO SEE IT!

Took my mom to see this on Mother's Day. She loved it. It was a really nice film full of love, adventure and fun. There was nice comedic writing and you really felt a connection with the characters stories. Perfect mother-daughter or date night movie.

Starting off on what was meant to be a romantic vacation and turning into what ends up as a destined change of several hearts, Letters to Juliet is a heart warming, smile-tastic film. What a great movie!! Saw it yesterday (Mothers Day) with my daughters and was happy to have made the choice to see this great movie. I have always loved Vanessa Redgrave and she does yet another wonderful job. I have been a fan of Amanda's since Big Love and think she is getting better with every movie she makes. Great role model for the younger generation. Now I want to book a flight to Verona and drink some wine.

I took my mother to the sneak preview of this movie for Mother's Day. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of this movie. You laugh, you cry and you feel the meaning of true love all in a little under two hours. The characters draw you into the plot making you feel like you are on the hunt for your Lorenzo.
