I went to see this because I believe Robin Wright Penn is an underappreciated actress and rarely carries a film. I was not disappointed as she played this lost soul with patience, acceptance and respect. Alan Arkin is wonderful as a scared, aging discontent while Zoe Kazan ( Elia's granddaughter) and Keanu Reeves ( I know...I know) are also terrific. You can easily argue that the script has weaknesses and that the director, Rebecca Miller ( Arthur's daughter) is too much in love with her characters, but I love small character-driven movies with superb performances and if you are like me, I suggest you see this.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
